Love, love, LOVE Heart of Dakota!! ;) I've used all the guides from preschool through high school, and they just get better and better every year. Loved your video!! ;)
Thank you for the encouragement! ❤️ I think the two are pretty different. HOD was more of a Bible Study/learning how to do devotions on your own type of thing…CLE is more of an in depth study of different parts of scripture. Both really good, but different.
What a wonderful review! Thanks so much! Do you and your children love it enough to continue on through the middle school and high school guides? We have done LHFHG and have really enjoyed it. Thanks for your insight. ☺️
I'm so glad it was helpful! We really love HOD! The only reason I decided to switch to something else for this year, is because I wanted to do more of a family style learning with History, Bible, and Science with my 4 kids. But I would definitely consider using HOD again as our family needs change and my kids get into the upper grades!
@@ourthriftyhomeschool what are you using this year? I’m looking at HOD for next year, loving how much books/literature is incorporated. So there’s no option to combine History, Bible, and, Science with HOD curriculum? Next year my kids will be 4th and 7th graders.
I loved HOD! But…it was too much on me trying to run 3 different guides, and knowing I’d need to run 4 in the near future. I wish I could’ve combined my kids bc I love the content of HOD, but they really recommend not combining unless the kids are less than 2 years apart.
Could you tell me how handwriting is handled? Are they doing the spelling dictation or written narrations in cursive? Or is the only time they work on cursive in the Draw and Write book? Thanks for this wonderful video!
Our handwriting was included in what we used for Language, which was Christian Light Education. The following year, we used Cheerful Cursive, which was good too. But, you can just use whatever handwriting you want. I believe the cursive part is up to you to decide. When my daughter hit 4th grade, I required her to write almost everything in cursive...but that was just my personal preference. I did not make her do her dictation in cursive, only because I didn't want her to lose points on spelling when she actually might have just written the cursive letter wrong. I hope that helps!
I’m starting out our homeschool adventure this year with HOD! I have a 3rd and 5th grader and was going to use Preparing Hearts for His Glory for both of them... do you think it’s appropriate for a 3rd grader, or should I start with Bigger Hearts for His Glory for the 3rd grader? 🤷🏻♀️
I'm so sorry, I'm just seeing this comment for some reason! That is so exciting that you are using HOD! You will love it! The rule of thumb is to only combine kids that are less than 2 years apart.....so your kids might be a little close to combine? But that is up to you, bc you know them best! I would recommend focusing on the younger child though, bc you can always beef up assignments if needed, but you don't want your younger one to struggle to keep up if the work is too challenging. So if it were me, I would probably put the 3rd grader in Bigger and the 5th grader in CTC. Preparing is wonderful...but its usually best suited for 4th grade (in my opinon) :) hope that helps!
When we used this, I think it took 3-4 hours? I’m not sure exactly bc it was a few years ago. As for using it with 2 kids, I would think all you would need for each would be anything consumable (like some of the levels have notebooking pages), but other than that, I think everything could be shared.

That is awesome! I love hearing from people that have used it on high school! Thank you!
I love curriculum reviews! Thanks for sharing!
Running late is my cardio, too! Only, I have no place to go right now! LOL Cute shirt! Getting all those books is very appealing!
Lol 😂 yes! I love all the books!
Love your shirt! This is the first time I have ever heard of Heart of Dakota.
Lol 😂 thank you!
I had never heard of this one before! I love learning about new curriculums!
Man, that curriculum looks so fun!! We're giving Sonlight a whirl this year and are really excited!
That's another one that is full of amazing books! That's great!
Heart of Dakota interests me! It looks like there’s a lot of great literature mixed in too. Thanks for sharing!
Yes! So much good literature!
Fantastic video! Thanks for answering all the questions I had about HOD !
Thank you!
I’ve always love this curriculum. Great flip through and introduction.
Thank you!
Thank you for doing what you do! Your reviews are so helpful for me. How do you think HOD's bible study compares to CLE's?
Thank you for the encouragement! ❤️

There are so many different types of curriculum! This one look fun!
I never knew how “Charlotte Mason” HOD really is. Thank you for this thorough look inside!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! It’s a wonderful curriculum! ❤️

I had been looking into heart of Dakota but went with the good and the beautiful. I love that it is history based.
We are using some TGTB this year too!
Hello! I am curious why you switched from HoD to other curriculum. I have a kid going into 4th, trying to decide what to purchase. Thanks!

How much time does it take in a day to do a lesson? I have 2 kids in the same level should I buy two of everything or what would you suggest?

This video is giving me heart of Dakota fomo!
