I lost my rabbit due to bloating we don't have proper vet who checks rabbits, so I bought him home. He was all sleepy.I was searching for the reasons so I came across this video which gave me exact reason as to what happened to him . I guess it was late or meant to be . I gave him some gastric medicine which contained Simeticone but he started breathing differently seeing him like that gave me chills I rushed him to the vet one decline saying they dont check rabbits so I took him to another he started having seizure....my baby passed away yesterday Im having really hard time coping with the fact. He ate some walnut that was the main reason ..My heart has shrunk my baby rested in paradise in my arms . They are one of the most innocent adorable animal who are playful, naughty, and wicked sometimes .My baby was very intelligent and brave who loved us all and we loved him very much .Its hard to deal with the loss of beloved pets . I will miss you my baby OREO..We will surely meet when my time ends here till then stay with your sister and children .I love you ( my heart goes out to all the people who lost their pet )
I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your poor bunny :(. I almost lost my baby two weeks ago. In the same situation as you, where all of the vets nearby either wouldn't see rabbits at all, or they only had 1 vet who could, and of course they were not there that day. I started googling the issue and ended up in hysterics, sobbing when I realized that he might die if he didn't eat soon. It was late at night by that point, but I called every emergency vet I could. Finally, at one that was almost an hour away, we found an amazing vet who would treat him. She was awesome, and the vet tech was great with rabbits too and had some of her own, which is very rare to find around here. It ended up being fairly expensive, but they did give us a few breaks on the bill -- he had to stay two nights. I was so anxious the entire time. I wish I knew what caused it, though. I've reduced the amount of pellets and increased the amount of greens, since he's already getting plenty of hay and water. I looked all around for anything he may have gotten into, but I'm just not sure and he can be a little thief at times
@@seralynn7286 Bloat is different than stasis. My Joy passed away due to bloat in the same manner. His stomach popped like a balloon. It was the worst case of bloat and gas I saw. His lungs stopped working.
I feel you. I lost my bunny 3 days ago too due to bloating. Brought him to a rabbit savvy vet but it was too late. His heartbeat weakened while doing x-rays. I don’t think I will ever get over losing him
Hey. My bunny had what you described bloat. I 4 Vet turned me down. No knowledge or no time. I massaged him and gave him 1 mil for gas for babies and I saw a change in him 10 min after. I gave 1 mil every hour for 3 times. And he came out of it. I felt a small ball like on his right side under his first (last?) Ribs and that started to unsolved after 2nd dose of colic". Afte rthe 3rd he went to pee and he started to eat. It saved him I think. Thank you for this video.
@Random Shares oh if you go to the pharmacy ans ask for something that parents give their babies when they have colic. Give 1 mil if they bloated. It helps gas buildup to aoft3n up and go away
@@Randomshares1009 It sounds like bunzillaz is talking about baby simethicone drops. It is safe for rabbits (I confirmed with the vet who recently treated my bunny for GI stasis), and the usual dose for rabbits is to give 1-2 mL every 4-6 hours as needed for bloating. Just make sure it's infant strength and not the adult simethicone.
As you said I gave my bunny simethicone dill oil with fennel oil drops(Gastica) and after around 3-4 hrs he is now eating drinking & running like before 😊
Absolutely. Thanks! I get so tired of people detecting a bit of gassiness, and immediately forcing food down a rabbit's throat. I use Ovol, wait an hour, give some more, and gently massage. It always resolves in a few hours. I do not assume gastric stasis. You can burst a bunny's guts by force feeding.
Dr. Saver. Great video. Bloat also similar meaning like Gas trap in stomach? As you familiar from our cases by contacting you & then your prescribed of appetite medicine which works well.
A bloat is typically caused by a blockage typically in the small intestine that stops fluids from flowing out of the stomach. Which causes the fluids and gases to build up and make the stomach bloat. This obstruction can be caused from the rabbit eating something such as plastic or carpet or ingesting a lot of their fur. It can also be caused from a tumor or abscess. A bloat as well as gi stasis can also while not common be caused by a abnormality in the structure of the intestine. I hope I explained that well.
I lost my bunny today on the early morning 💔 I didn't know she had Gi stasis, she stopped eating, drinking, pooping for more than 24 hours, I took her to the vet but abviously she wasn't diagnosed correctly, until I found a video on RUclips talking about her symptoms which exactly indicates she has been suffering from Gi stasis, but unfortunately it was too late, I gave her simethicone hoping it will work and indeed it really worked, she was finally able to poop after more than 24 hours, however she was very weak and breathing heavily, I think that the toxins have already spread spread to their organs due to the feces being trapped/retained in her intestine for a long time, as bunnies cannot fart, burp or even vomit 😢💔 My advice to anyone who owns a bunny is to monitor its behavior before it is too late. Isolation, lack of appetite and lack of activity are among the primary symptoms of this silent disease that kills our lovely bunnies💔😔 I love you, goodbye shizuka💔
Normally, the STOMACH of allcreatures, be it human or animal, is positioned in the LEFT part of the thorax, madame...! So why palpating two fingers behind the RIGHT elbow...?
She’s not just palpating behind his right elbow! That’s just the part of her actions you can see with the camera! If you watch the video all the way to the end, you will hear her say that when the stomach is soft, your fingers should almost meet in the middle. That indicates that she is palpating the stomach on BOTH sides of the rabbit! You just can’t see what she’s doing on his left side.
Great video! Maurice is an excellent model. 🥰
