2022 P2 owner here. Best car I have ever owned! Turns heads on the road, handles well, excellent sound system, and practical in many areas. Considering the Polestar 5 as my next move once it goes into production.
Same here, mine is in the shop(somebody rear ended me). They gave me a brand new ix1 M sport as a rental. As soon as I started driving it, I felt like I went from a horse to a donkey. The BMW was definitely more roomy on the inside, heck even comfier by a hair. But the Polestar is more practical for day to day use, and also a lot more fun to drive.
Been waiting for you guys to review this, and coming from an owner you pretty much summed it perfectly. I'm 6'4", ordered the car online having never sat in it and hit my head on the roof the first time getting in. The seats thankfully go down, and I eventually found a position that was really comfortable. After about a week I learned to love how it hugs you. Obsessed with how it drives compared to my old Model Y, and I personally like how it's more understated compared to the Tesla. FYI - you can turn the HVAC on in the car by hitting the "play/pause" button if the car isn't in gear.
I love my Polestar 2. It was a huge gamble at the time because the market was so insane and the technology was, and still is, so new. It’s worked for us though and charging overnight with an installed level 2 system at home has been such a blessing. Always starting your day with full battery like your iPhone is such a convenience! Also there is a power tube that Polestar just release that bumps the torque to over 500 and the horsepower to ~480. Of course I bought it even on a leased vehicle! Only negative on this car is the rear glass visibility is seriously almost as bad as a Camaro. Make sure you like that before you buy one.
@@LilBrotherWatches didn't mean to brag, just took delivery of mine and I'm still so excited about it... I've put almost 2k km in 3 days... that's how much I've been loving it. I used to have a Model S 75 before this and boy, what a difference. But that's off topic... I did test drive a Polestar 2 with the performance package, it's actually really good, the interior is good, performance is good, but it's just so damn ugly...
Can confirm, the state of the charging network seems to be way better in Quebec. The Hydro Québec chargers (circuit electrique) are always working in my experience.
Had the Polestar 4WD for a 45min test by myself. Good fun and a very nice ride. Cabin space is a little cramped for anyone but the driver and did not have to charge it. Would only by full EV once I have a charger at my house. Then I would consider the car.
I wanted a BMW i4 initially but your rant is the exact reason why I chose a Model 3 over one. My Tesla is a perfect daily driver but that's about it. I miss the handling dynamics, the way the seats hug me and especially the fit and finish quality of a BMW. I drove from Toronto to PEI last Summer and A Better Route Planner routed me all the Superchargers along the way. But when I changed the car to a BMW i4, it said I wouldn't be able to make it. Once Tesla releases their Superchargers to the public like in Europe and/or when these public chargers get their shit together, I'm trading my Model 3 for an i4 in a heartbeat.
Oh man, Canada needs to allow companies to charge by the kWh like they do in the US. That scheme of changing prices based on how fast your car is supposed to be able to charge is crazy.
*I just sat in one at the dealer. I am 6"6" tall and I felt like a big grasshopper shoved into a small match box. NOT FOR TALL PEOPLE!!! I ended up with a Telsa 3 and I have plenty of room including my son how is 7" tall. (P.S. I did buy a KIA EV6 at first and it have total Electrical failure after only 3 weeks ownership and 500 miles and the dealer said it would take 5 months to fix so it had a MAJOR factory defect of some kind!!! Dealer refunded my purchase price only AFTER I spent $2000.00 to hire a real scary Lawyer and he faxed them a nasty letter! Kia is too new at the electric car game so better give them 5 more years to catch up or end up being their Guinea Pig like I was!!!)*
I randomly got one of these as a rental (thank you for the mixup Hertz). I was blown away. Comically quick, love the sport seats, infotainment was great. In love. I’m thin and 5’8”, I fit in the car perfectly. Range is a bit terrible. I had to charge it daily for my few days of use. Good work.
We own a P2 front wheel drive and XC40 Recharge. Love the cars and both apps do work. Sorry you couldn't make it happen. As for size, I can see if someone is 6ft+ space would be limited. Otherwise, plenty of space. As for charging price, measurement Canada will allow kWh charging sometimes in 2023 which will fix the issue. :)
Another method to keep the car 'On' while being away is to press the play/pause button when the car is 'Off' to turn on what is commonly known as accessory mode, which runs the heater.
I feel like last time I commented on one of your videos that noted public EV chargers it was taken negatively, but I honestly appreciate you guys calling out the faults in public chargers and forcing providers to address it!!I love your videos and have followed you since the Element days.
You can preheat via the app, or by setting a preconditioning timer within the center screen of the car, or if you go out to the car you can open the door, reach in and press either the Play/Pause button or the home button on the center screen and that 'starts' the heat or a/c and the radio, etc.
Got my P2 in Oct 2021 and after 15 months, I'm still loving it. My only nitpick would be the RUclips Music app which I use to play music from my playlists. Sometimes the streaming/downloading doesn't work, so I have to switch to a bluetooth media player app and play the music from my phone which is more cumbersome. I wish the RUclips Music app in the car would allow you to download your songs and playlists and play them from storage instead of having to only stream them.
I have the P2 with 476 power upgrade. It goes like a scalded rat. The car is mine, my husband has an ICE vehicle for journeys with the kids, because the Poley really isn't suitable for 3 to sit in the rear, especially tall teenage boys. The rear visibility is limited but still adequate, and the cupholder is not a problem for me, as I don't like to eat or drink in my cars. I bloody love it, it is my first EV and I am used to driving luxury vehicles, ie. Audi V8 (S5) and A45S AMG. Polestar is better to drive and the torque is insane. Mine is this colour too- Thunder!
I own a P2. Would love you guys to try out the performance pack with the 76HP upgrade. Huge difference in drive quality. And you are 100% on the charging issues. Ontario has to be the worst market in the developed world for non-Tesla charging. The holidays were a total shitshow. Still glad I bought the car though. If you have a reliable local charging solution, it's all good 90% of the time.
The sticker on the side is giving me Virgil Abloh Off-White vibes. Wouldn't doubt if that's where they got the idea, considering how popular the brand Off-White got
neat. I think what keeps a lot of people away from EV's is not the charge station issues (though I'm sure it's a factor), it's that your test car was ~75k. That's a lot for a small car, in the ICE space you'd get a lot more car for the money.
Yeah, not sure what you mean. The Nissan Leaf exists. Obviously the nicer the car, the more expensive it will be. You can't criticize all EVs because this one happened to be expensive.
@@nopota7290, "more reasonable", but still not affordable for a lot of people. We need electric cars in the compact / starter car area more than we need more luxury brands with big price tags.
If you drive a lot like I do (over 100 miles a day) the cost is the same as a regular car. No gas and maintenance really did make my Tesla’s monthly cost just as much as my used Scion tC
I own a Polestar 2 AWD since May 2022. Disagree with your observations regarding seating. I'm very tall and no issues with the drivers seat leg room. Perhaps change the seat back or the tilt of the back. The app does work to preheat. I don't use it but my friend does. Yes some of the chargers don't work but pricing is dependent on the company. And need more infrastructure outside of gta. Love the Google maps for advising crashes, alternative routes and radar. Best ! Would recommend people purchase the extended warranty. As it gives you more km warranty. Love driving it.
Probably my favourite EV on sale today, hands down. That and the third party dealers that are ordering it to sell on their lots, are coming down in price, so one could get one for roughly MSRP, especially the Front motor variants.
Drive it and the i4...and you will never think about this car anymore...one of the worst I have ever driven...extremly noisy...you hear the wheels and Wind all the time...lane Assist is the worst ever driven...pushes steering wheel out of your hands. The seating Position made me claustrophopic...
Finally! Love the Polestar2! Please include the baby seat in the back of all future reviews! It’s very relevant data that a lot of us that are Jakub size with babies need!
I just saw one of these this morning in the dark and couldn’t tell what it was. The taillights look like no other car. Now I know what I saw! Lol. Looked good though!
I've got the same car (2022) and love it. The "engine start" function is a bit gimmicky but you can always preheat or cool the cabin without the app (which works great in Quebec) by going to the climate menu and go into "parking climate". So if your app isn't connecting you can set timers or go in the car, start the parking climate and it will cool/heat for 30min at a time. It is the fastest and simplest way if the app fails. Love your videos keep it up !
Happy New Year! Love the video as always guys. If I can make a suggestion is to separate the review of the EV infrastructure from the car review. Upon starting the video I was under the impression the Polestar was bad at charging (when its been great on other reviews) but it's actually because of the crappy Ontario infrastructure. I feel you could have spent more time reviewing the car instead. I would have love to know more details about the not being able to use the App in Canada, is it only for the Pre-heating? What makes the Polestar attracting is that in Canada, it's one that you can get really fast compare to other models. Next time do an EV review in Quebec :) Would love to see you guys around here for it.
Agree - came here to suggest the same thing. The latter half of the video isn’t even about the car, it’s just a rant about the charging network in the GTA. They’re fair points and I do appreciate all the testing you guys are doing but as suggested, maybe do it in a separate video and instead give more details about the car itself. It really degrades the quality of the review IMO
I like these; would opt for the 476HP Perf Pack but as others commented still waiting for some more range and infrastructure improvements here in the US and for Tesla to open up to use by non-Tesla models on their supercharger network
Right now in Canada, Model 3 is not available in dual motor AWD and if you want the Performance version, it's 82k. You can have a Polestar 2 with AWD at 58k.
I have one! 1- One pedal drive WILL come to a full stop if creep is off. It's the only way to drive it! 2- Tuxmats are back ordered for the PS2 since I think November, it's too bad! 3- You have to precondition the car by putting the charging station itself in Google Maps when you drive there to get the fastest speed in winter. 4- The app works fine in Canada, you can also trigger heating from a timer on the screen or by double-pressing the Play button. 5- I think Quebec is the only place in North America where you can literally go anywhere with an EV without an issue. 6- Love the car, I consider it a significant step up from the 2019 G70 Sport I had.
It is awful compared to the i4...drove both...noisy, you feel any hole in the street...lane Assist is a nightmare...pushes steerig wheel out of your hands. I would never think again about any polestar
I was considering both and ended up with Polestar 2. I think I would have been happy with both. Polestar has more firm suspension and maybe sport version I feel are more 'sporty'. I4 feels more 'luxorious' and M50 definitely has power to match. For me P2 infotainment is best there is. Google navigation is awesome and I like that all touch points are pretty big. Easy to hit while driving. During winter traction control is way better than in I4 (or M3P). I do not kill all the power immediately when your turn steering wheel (I4) or randomly put power back and forth (like M3P). Noise levels with similar tyres pretty much same as in I4 M50. Many of the shortcomings of early P2s (like mobile app, TCAP reset stuff, ...) are fixed in current versions.
Have the launch edition dual motor now 2 years. Love it. The app works in the States to preheat. Can use voice command on Google Assistant from phone or smart speaker also to preheat, lock, unlock, check battery range. Tesla announced it is opening charging network in North America to non-Teslas. That’s already happened in parts of Europe. We all need better charging networks.
Just to confirm i live in Québec and the charging Network are reliable. But most of the charger are 50kwh but the New installation are more 150kwh and some 350kwh. The family as 1 électric and une gas car since 2017 and are planning to go to 2 Electric soon.
My partner and I have one, we have the base wheel (the optional ones are icky in my opinion haha) we have the tow hitch on it and it tows like nothing is behind it. But it's a great car, we love it to death.
In the US any EV charge stations that charge based on time, do so at the request or mandate of the state it resides in. Otherwise the charge station will charge based on amount of power delivered. That may be the case in Canada as well.
As a 6' 3" individual, I opted to buy a Volvo C40 over the Polestar 2 when I was shopping. Same drivetrain system and power delivery, just in an SUV crossover platform. Very similar in a lot of areas overall. If I was shorter, I would have definitely purchased the Polestar 2.
Great review. Seeing so many on the road these days both in California before I left in October and up here in the Pacific Northwest. I hope it continues to sell well.
yep, same here in the Boston area... they sold 50k of these vehicles worldwide last year, and that makes sense to me, given how often I see them on the road now. Beautiful looking car. The iPad-like infotainment screen just looks horrible, though, and is a huge turn-off to me (as is any car that has them, like Teslas, Mach-E, etc.).
Pre-heating is a thing. Pre-heat on an adhoc basis via the app and/or set a scheduled time to heat via the app or car. Also, you can keep the car 'running' after you step out by pressng the play/puse/volume knob.
Been waiting for this review. Thanks!!! Gotta say, it sucks that you guys are charged per minute. Around my area, all of the Electrify America chargers are Price / kWh, which makes way more sense.
@@youmongrel I think the solution there is to have idle fees. And make them really expensive. If you are charged after 10 minutes you start getting charged $1 / minute 🙂
We have the lunch edition polestar 2 in the Bay Area California. We LOVE it. I worked at tesla for 2 years and have love for tesla but I have NO regrets getting the P2 . I cant wait to save up some money and get the Polestar 5 one day :) Notes: I get free charging at work. This is not our only car. we are also pretty small people. i am 5 9 my wife is 5 foot . I would say above 5 10 or 5 11 you might need more room. Its really annoying my arm dose not reach the stearingwheel with my elbow on the arm rest. I FEEL YOUR PAIN hahah
I test drove this one in the summer. It drove well, but didn't offer enough space in terms of cargo, storage, and passenger space. I got an EV6 instead and I am pretty happy with most of it.
You must be from an alternate reality then. I have a Polestar 2 and my neighbor have the EV6 so we are able to compare them side by side. The EV6 only win in passenger space. The Polestar 2 win every other metrics wether its cargo space, fit & finish, driving dynamics & performance. And you can actually sit in the back of the Polestar 2 without actually having your knees above your shoulders. We will not even talk about the infotainment system as the UI of the EV6 look like a bloated samsung phone and is the same of a 2018 Soul. I also test drove his and boy is it so sedated.
@@Sebaste22 actually, most people would surely find the cockpit-control area in the EV6 to be vastly superior to that of the P2 (and by this, I mean the computer screens and buttons outside of infotainment screen). I'll bet that if you took a poll of all drivers, the vast majority would oppose a Tesla-like "iPad-glued-to-dashboard" vertical infotainment screen and favor a horizontal nicely-integrated-into-dashboard infotainment screen.
@@Sebaste22 Every has different tastes. I don't knock on anyone who prefers the P2. I couldn't see my growing kids being comfortable sitting behind me at 6'2". I would prefer the P2's infotainment system over EV6's. I can fit two sets of kid's golf clubs and two sets of adult golf clubs in my EV6 plus four shoe bags and then some. I couldn't see that possible in the P2 with the rear seats up.
I live in the states, and drive an EV6. I drive a lot for work, most of the time, it’s within 100 miles, so I just charge at home. But 1-2x month, I drive far away (250 miles +) and the Electrify America chargers have worked great. I know I am probably the exception. And it charges $.43/kw hr
I have a Polestar Dual 2021 and split my time between Toronto and Montreal. I have never had a problem finding a charger. The ones at the PetroCan stations are credit card tap and work well. Also, I use the Polestar app all the time. I can lock my doors with it, use it as a key and preheat my car with it all the time. I don't understand why you think the app doesn't work in Canada.
I drove one of these when i was in the market last year. Nice car. Beautiful, drives well, nice materials inside. Three things ultimately sent me in another direction: 1. It's just a little too small and the cockpit a little too snug for my wants/needs. 2. Polestar dealer network is thin; the closest one to my home was 1.5 hours away. 3. Range is just a little bit less than what I'm willing to accept.
Totally agree. Would not recommend this car if you're far outside a large metro area and need to drive +300km/day. As for "too small" it really depends on you and your hauling (human or otherwise) needs.
For now, all electric vehicles are not practical for me due to several reasons : 1) living in an apartment complex with no access to trickle charging means I’m wholly reliant on the current limited fast charge infrastructure 2) the max range assumes no usage of any other electrical systems especially power hungry air conditioning / ventilated seats which will be used 3/4 of the year on full power in my desert climate. 3) recommended charging ranges seem to be 10% to 80 or 90. With max range around 300 miles I reckon on only achieving 200 maybe max. 4) until the max range gets to 500 miles at least so I can get 300 + and also with decent performance figures I’ll stick with ICE
I am a polestar 2 owner and I love it. I think you guys did a good review. But there is a way to preheat the car without the app. Turn heater on / get off the car / after the car turns itself off push the PLAY bottom and everything turns on again. Then close the door
@@TheStraightPipes thats true. Look into a private Canadian company trying to make chargers more reliable called FreeWire. Apparently if they are installed at gas stations, they can power the entire station if the power goes out.
Another great video, gents. I have now owned my EV (Mustang Mach E GT Perf) for four months now and I only charge at public charging stations. It drives me bunkers that you guys have so many issues charging your vehicles where you live. I live in Southern California and I have 4 Electrify America stations within 20 minutes from me. There is usually one charger down at each of the stations, but aside from sometimes having to wait for 10-15 minutes for an available charger I have no problems. I hope that these problem y'all are having in Canada and elsewhere are only temporary and the result of infostructure not yet meeting demand. That pricing this is also weird to me. They shouldn't charge per minute. Everyone should be charged based on the amount of electricity they take. So many issues, but I am sure it will all sort itself out eventually. I bet filling up a car with gasoline was a lot more difficult back in the 1920s. I still prefer my Mach E over a polestar because of the speed, performance, and ride quality.
My Ioniq5 Ultimate was in the body shop and had a Polestar P2 for a week - during the epic snowstorm *of the Decade* in Vancouver. Yeah, laugh... but it was a real Eastern snow- dry and voluminous. Roads were horrible. The series of storms would have shut down Montreal for 1/2 a day. Yet, the car drove like a dream on the non- M+S all-season tires. Compared to the Ioniq5, the instrumentation and screen layout in the Polestar seemed much more integrated and coordinated. It is way prettier all-round, for sure. While the Ioniq5 has landmark styling, I prefer the 'normalness' of the Polestar sedan. But... That said- I way, way waaaay prefer my Ioniq5. The Polestar felt cramped in every way. No real elbow room. No real knee room. Poor headroom and getting in and out was a pain- literally. The way I had to stoop over to get in and out hurt my neck. I found the screen controls to be clunky. I found that the materials, no matter how vaunted they are to have been recycled, seemed cheap with hard or almost-hard plastics under the fabric. Fit and finish was poor. There were squeaks. Seats were uncomfortable with "numb-ass" setting in in a single hour of driving. The range isn't as good as the Ioniq5. There's way more room in the Ioniq5. As you stated, there's no remote app to start the car to heat it. No 'accessory mode' for running the sound system so if you're on a bluetooth phone call and put the car into park, the infotainment system cuts out very shortly thereafter. Its acceleration logarithm is different; slower off the mark with the power applied more gradually than the Ioniq5 so from 0 the Ioniq5 will beat the Polestar. But the worst part was how cramped the car felt. And the Ioniq5 (even if you buy after-market) is cheaper at the top trim than the Polestar at top trim. Someone just asked for more head-to-heads. Here's one: Polestar P2 v. Ioniq5 Ultimate.
I just love my IONIQ 5. I have the standard range with a 58kWh battery and I get almost the same range of the Polestar 2 they had in the video. Yeah, the IONIQ 5 is spacious, kids dont want to go back in the back seats of the kona now. Lol. By the way, It takes a lot of snow to close the roads in Québec... We are used to it, and equiped to deal with it. I think you meant Toronto, not Montréal, like they call the army when they got too much snow... :D
Had mine for a month now, love it. Already would have spent 180 on gas. So nice to just get in and drive. So just reduce your monthly payment by your monthly gas and that's how much it really costs.
Re: Charging speeds I think it makes sense to have both speeds cost different amounts for 0-90 vs 0-350, assuming both work correctly. You don't want someone in a first gen leaf taking the 350kw charger if a 90 will charge them the same speed. This is set up to discourage that from happening. If you did a different rate from 90-350 but made 0-90 the same, someone in a faster charging vehicle will get stuck on a slower charger.
@@TheStraightPipes I probably should have specified "a slower charging EV" instead of trying to find an example I assumed charged slower. My point was that there are vehicles which cannot accept 350kw, and these vehicles should be discouraged from stealing the good charger when they can't make full use of it, hence the price difference.
You not going to get the maximum charge rate at 52% SOC. To help with the charging speed the Polestar2, and some others, will preheat the battery if you enter a charger in the navigation and navigate to the charger. EVs get their maximum charge rate at a low SOC then begin to taper the speed as the battery fills up. We don't have the time based charging here in the US in most states. Some states do. We also get 2 years free 30 minute charging at Electrify America so a road trip is free except of course for wear and tear. On the pre-heating the cabin issue you talked about: I pre-heat the cabin all the time when it's not plugged in. Use the app and tap on climate which take you the climate page and tap start. Done.
I have a Polestar 2, (short lease until my V60 arrives in August) After 6 weeks now I find somethings amazing and a few things really annoying. The amazing parts are the general driving experience, the speed but most of all the Android based infotainment man that's good. I really hate the mirrors, it looks good but if you own one you find out really quickly why other cars have mirror housing because if it rains you can't see shit in them. The back window is also annoyingly small and the placement of the backup camera makes it relatively useless. All in all great car fun to drive but be careful if you're standing behind one 😂 Edit: when I got the car I was looking for a video by you guys about the car and I was really surprised to see you'd missed it. Thanks for fixing that, your videos are gold
I have also Polestar 2 and rear camera gets dirty in notime and back window is small. But mirror stay clean for me. I am surprised that you have some issues with it. We have several other cars and Polestar mirrows stay cleanest during rain and winter. While not perfect is is just so great to drive and and look at.
This seems like the car that architects in the 2020's would drive, now there's no SAAB anymore... Am I wrong? 😂 It's very minimalist Scandinavian-chic!
The charging situation definitely depends on region and living situation. We took our Mach-E from Cleveland to a few places in Florida and back (maybe 2,500 miles on that trip). Charging was pretty much a non-issue. We had one issue one time at a public charger, and it cost us about 10 extra minutes (most plugs weren't going full speed, so we waited 10 min for the fast one). If you live somewhere with access to a level 2 charger every night/day, you will rarely ever use a public charger. I've been driving a full EV since 2018, and I definitely am having a good time. :-)
I have an EV and I love it, but yeah - traveling in them sucks (even in a Tesla, where the charging is fairly painless, just time consuming). Unfortunately EVs are good for city driving only, and only if you can charge at home. For everyone else, ICE is the only way to go currently. We own an ICE vehicle and a BEV.
I test drove the polestar 2, tesla model y performance, model 3 standard, and lucid air recently. Driving-wise, polestar 2 was definitely the best with the solid secure feel and simple intuitive interface. The teslas were a bit too complicated and ride too stiff....felt like i was driving a go-cart. Lucid has plenty of power but even though it looked the most luxurious, the creaks it had and the fact my size 10 shoes kept hitting something at the toe part gives it more opportunities for improvement. That said, I would probably opt for the model 3 standard for the practicality of the charging network and decent ride. If you doubt you'd drive over the 400+km range in a day, I'd get the polestar.
I’m not sure how things are in Canada but charging in the states is very simple I’ve been a EvOwner since 2015 and yes early days were rough but haven’t had a problem for the past two years. Plus charging is free for two years with a polestar lease.

Yes a volvo. That's what you get ...awesome vechiles
I really like the Polestar 2. If I was in the market for a new car, and electric made sense for my current situation... it'd be on the list.
Just don't like the exterior design at all. It's such a shame, cause the rest looks pretty interesting. Wouldn't trade my Taycan for this tho...
@nogoodname8133 that’s a weird humblebrag
@@LilBrotherWatches the Polestar 3 and 4 on the other hand look sexy as hell.

Put in a charger at home. It’s well worth it. Save a tonne on gas money you don’t have to spend. And Maintenance
Nothing but a disposable throw away
@@Americafirst-i8q all cars in the last 10 years are nothing but disposable throwaways👍😎🇨🇦
I love the driving feel of mine so much I keep taking it to the track, Polestar isn't for everyone but if it's for you they REALLY crushed it.
Do you live in the GTA area? What track do you go to? I have the C40 and am interested in trying it on a track.
Oh man, Canada needs to allow companies to charge by the kWh like they do in the US. That scheme of changing prices based on how fast your car is supposed to be able to charge is crazy.
They've opened up per/kWh charging now. Just have to manage a changeover.
You can preheat the car in the HVAC settings, and the app does work in Canada to do the same.
It was greyed out for me
Another method to keep the car 'On' while being away is to press the play/pause button when the car is 'Off' to turn on what is commonly known as accessory mode, which runs the heater.
I feel like last time I commented on one of your videos that noted public EV chargers it was taken negatively, but I honestly appreciate you guys calling out the faults in public chargers and forcing providers to address it!!I love your videos and have followed you since the Element days.
Love you're reviews! Any chance you all could do more over you head-to-heads? I love the older videos where you pitted EV against each other.
You guys need to be on a government committee on EV charging infrastructure.
The polestar name is baised on the north star. That is why the logo is a star.
You can preheat by pressing the climate icon, then parking icon. As you leave the Poster 2 will balance the interior temperature.
You can preheat via the app, or by setting a preconditioning timer within the center screen of the car, or if you go out to the car you can open the door, reach in and press either the Play/Pause button or the home button on the center screen and that 'starts' the heat or a/c and the radio, etc.
It would take a couple of real motor journalist to point out those type of things. These guys mostly just like to do burnouts with sports cars.
Last time I drove from Ottawa to Markham I almost got stuck, got TEN chargers not working on the way...
Worst? Try Manitoba.
@@kurtpenner2362 yeah, i've heard Manitoba and Saskatchewan are pretty rough to find reliable charging
Wait, you guys can't use Tesla's infrastructure in Canada? It's not cheap, but in a last ditch attempt it's better than getting stuck...

neat. I think what keeps a lot of people away from EV's is not the charge station issues (though I'm sure it's a factor), it's that your test car was ~75k. That's a lot for a small car, in the ICE space you'd get a lot more car for the money.
It is a luxury brand. The BMW 330e is a nice comparison to this if pure EV is out. The price is only about $4k difference.
Yeah, not sure what you mean. The Nissan Leaf exists. Obviously the nicer the car, the more expensive it will be. You can't criticize all EVs because this one happened to be expensive.
75k almost fully loaded, this is just missing the performance package. It has every single option but that. The baseprice of 58K is more reasonable.
I'm actually surprised things are that bad over in Canada.
The situation is a lot better down here in Costa Rica.
I’m so happy you guys are doing this one! I’ve waited soooo long!

I'm picking up one tomorrow!
That’s dumb
I like these; would opt for the 476HP Perf Pack but as others commented still waiting for some more range and infrastructure improvements here in the US and for Tesla to open up to use by non-Tesla models on their supercharger network

I’ve always been curious to drive the Polestar 2 (as an i4 owner especially it’s an interesting comparison). Great video!

As a stockholder in Polestar, this puts a smile on my face.

Petro Canada has issued with their chargers right across Canada, either charging very slow or not working at all.
For now, all electric vehicles are not practical for me due to several reasons :
1) living in an apartment complex with no access to trickle charging means I’m wholly reliant on the current limited fast charge infrastructure
2) the max range assumes no usage of any other electrical systems especially power hungry air conditioning / ventilated seats which will be used 3/4 of the year on full power in my desert climate.
That’s ridiculous

Our government owned companies letting us down
@@TheStraightPipes thats true.
Been getting Polestars at National Car Rental all around the US. It's a great car! I'm hoping to get one myself soon too!
Had mine for a month now, love it. Already would have spent 180 on gas. So nice to just get in and drive. So just reduce your monthly payment by your monthly gas and that's how much it really costs.
Also, the app works here in Canada fine, no issues preconditioning it
Rocking the 90s arctic cat jacket nice 🤌🏻
Re: Charging speeds
I think it makes sense to have both speeds cost different amounts for 0-90 vs 0-350, assuming both work correctly. You don't want someone in a first gen leaf taking the 350kw charger if a 90 will charge them the same speed. This is set up to discourage that from happening. If you did a different rate from 90-350 but made 0-90 the same, someone in a faster charging vehicle will get stuck on a slower charger.
The leaf can still charge at the 350 and will only be charged the 1-90 rate. So it doesn’t actually do anything lol
Ahh we all missed you boys! Happy times ahead 😎
Bro, just don't live in Canada... public charging in Norway is basically flawless
Done.
I have a Polestar 2, (short lease until my V60 arrives in August)
After 6 weeks now I find somethings amazing and a few things really annoying.

Have they improved the horrible plastic used in the oversized transmission tunnel thing on the 2021 model?
This seems like the car that architects in the 2020's would drive, now there's no SAAB anymore... Am I wrong? 😂
It's very minimalist Scandinavian-chic!
Love the electric car episodes
The way Jakob smiles when Yuri calls him his Polestar is adorable 😂
The pole star is the north star, Polaris.
I’m not sure how things are in Canada but charging in the states is very simple I’ve been a EvOwner since 2015 and yes early days were rough but haven’t had a problem for the past two years. Plus charging is free for two years with a polestar lease.
Polestar 2 vs Tesla Model 3 vs BMW i4? Which is best at what? Good and bad?
Polestar is owned by Volvo Cars, which is a publicly traded separate company from Geely. Geely still owns stock in Volvo but they are definetly not the same company anymore.
