Concrete Pour and Polishing Concrete Floors, Incl. Full Time Lapse - Machine Shop Build Ep. 13

  • Machine shop floor is getting poured in. Pouring and concrete leveling is done by a professional construction contractor. Surface hardener was added before concrete polishing with a trowel machine. I also did a concrete pour time lapse from this and you can see nice smooth shiny polished concrete floors as a result. Enjoy! I know I will.

    I've a similar project, stalled at the moment, because setting in the reinforcing, and pipework, then concreting is the next step. So, using a contractor for the concreting, might be a good idea, as my back is not up to much bending work.

    That concrete wasnt polished, just hard troweled with a machine. Your concrete guy did a great job and obviously knows what hes doing by screeding flat and using pans on his machine at first to get it even flatter, but its still not polished concrete like title says. More like a "burnished" concrete floor.
    it would be a great foundation for a polishing contractor to start with though, if you wanted an actual real diamond polished floor

    • @DonnDIY
      @DonnDIY  5 лет назад

      He used surface hardener so no diamond polishing was needed. The floor is polished by my standards, thus the title. Sorry if it's misleading.

    • @DonnDIY
      @DonnDIY  5 лет назад

      I think so too. I'm confused about the imperial units but this 26,3 m2 took 2,7 m3 of concrete. The prices vary, the concrete itself was around 90+ EUR perhaps, but there were other additional fees and of course the contractor's salary.

      @@DonnDIY..A cu. yd. in imperial is a 36" cube....(1.3079 cu. yd. equals 1 cu. m.)
      I see that your project needed 2.7 cu. m......or 3.53 cu. yds.
      I built a bridge/road project in 2001 using the Metric System as that was one of the early jobs in the US to be 'engineered, designed and drawn' using metric measures.
      In September, 1996, our US Government/States started engineering/designing federal projects in metric measures as our officials had voted to convert to metric. But later they 'got scared' and cancelled the transition and we continue with the Imperial System.

    • @murraykyle1643
      @murraykyle1643 5 лет назад

      2 flaws. 1st is no vibration. 2nd is throwing cement over the surface whilst floating. The floor is thin and the concrete had a high slump so most air probably was tamped out when striking off. You should never throw cement powder on as it can onion peel off later, the action of the power float blades is supposed to draw the cement fines to the surface and so create a dense crust.
