@@mathprodigy Sorry it took so long to reply to this thread, it's pretty hard to find comment replies, compared to comments themselves. This has been done to some extent since I uploaded this video (shoutouts to IsaacA for that), but afaik there are still more places to look • Squish-cancel hyperjump in BitS - the details are hard to explain in a comment but in very specific circumstances if you try to squish Mario the game will trigger failsafes which push him out and change his action to 'idle', from which you can convert & restore speed. This is believed to be possible using the axle of the elevator in BitS (at 3:28 in the video), and if so you could BLJ on the elevator, get squish-cancel, convert speed to forward via sliding-speed conservation, then possibly fly towards the Whomp, wallkick off it, return to the elevator & jumpdive, gaining massive amounts of height because of the forward speed, and skipping all the way to the top very quickly, saving ~15 seconds. The ideas behind squish-cancel are explained here: ruclips.net/video/SQhH8lnoH4k/видео.html • Wall-overlap after the moat door - after entering the moat-door from behind Mario is spawned in an empty area behind the water, and getting back to the water itself involves passing through a wall hitbox, which pushes Mario forwards (seen at 1:28 shortly after Mario starts swimming, when he's suddenly pushed forwards for a frame). Because of the finite precision of the floating-point numbers used to determine whether you're colliding with a wall, it's possible to collide with two walls at once on the seam between them. The push effect you get from this is cumulative, so this will push you twice as far, potentially saving a few frames. To everyone commenting about saving 5 frames to get 4:20.69 SUPER MARIO 64 RUNS AT 30 FPS, NOT 60 FPS FOR CHRISSAKES SO 1 FRAME = 0.033 SECS 4:20.77 - 5 FRAMES (0.16 SECS) = 4:20.61 TO GET 4:20.69, YOU NEED TO SAVE 0.08 SECS, AND WE'VE ESTABLISHED 5 FRAMES = 0.16 SECS, SO 0.08 SECS = 2.5 FRAMES BUT IT IS DAMN IMPOSSIBLE TO SAVE HALF A FRAME SO YOU NEED TO EITHER DEAL WITH SAVING ONLY 2 OR 3 FRAMES SAVING 2 FRAMES NETS YOU A TIME OF 4:20.71 SAVING 3 FRAMES NETS YOU A TIME OF 4:20.67 THEREFORE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET 4:20.69 GET THIS DAMN FACT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULLS OR SO HELP ME Thank you for listening to my TedTalk.

Between all the people who've worked on 1Key (and Any% as a whole), absolutely
i watched how this TAS was done and i love this so much on how much work that was put into this
damn, i would have never thought that matpat's video on how -sans is ness- mario is faster than sonic, was actually true
Sonic on the Hedgehog Engine 1:
Bowser: You will need at least 70 stars to get Peach back
Mario: Give me 4 minutes
Especially when Wahoo warped behind Bowser at 2:15 , I was dead
"I'll be home in 5 minutes. If I catch you playing that stupid game again, I'm dumping you."
this is honestly incredible! good job!
This is incredible. Great job all around.
To everyone commenting about saving 5 frames to get 4:20.69
SUPER MARIO 64 RUNS AT 30 FPS, NOT 60 FPS FOR CHRISSAKES
SO 1 FRAME = 0.033 SECS
4:20.77 - 5 FRAMES (0.16 SECS) = 4:20.61
TO GET 4:20.69, YOU NEED TO SAVE 0.08 SECS, AND WE'VE ESTABLISHED 5 FRAMES = 0.16 SECS, SO 0.08 SECS = 2.5 FRAMES
BUT IT IS DAMN IMPOSSIBLE TO SAVE HALF A FRAME
SO YOU NEED TO EITHER DEAL WITH SAVING ONLY 2 OR 3 FRAMES
SAVING 2 FRAMES NETS YOU A TIME OF 4:20.71
SAVING 3 FRAMES NETS YOU A TIME OF 4:20.67
THEREFORE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET 4:20.69
GET THIS DAMN FACT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULLS OR SO HELP ME
Thank you for listening to my TedTalk.
Sonic: I'm the fastest thing alive
Mario: Are you sure about that?
Looking back at this comment, I feel kinda embarrassed
TASers: 1 key run
viewers: no_clue% run
Wow, i left the speedrunning community roughly 11 years ago and to come back to this is amazing. Beautiful work. Im starstruck
Legendary upload
9:14 cuando eramos niños y no sabiamos nada del mundo.
Eramos felices con Mario
By my calculations, these camera changes cost 5 frames of game play, but saved 13 frames of lag, for an overall net savings of 8 frames. That's quite a bargain!
(In comparison to the other run mentioned in the description as the fastest run on emulator.)
Girlfriend: hey you want to come over to my house.
Me: Sorry I’m playing Mario.
Girlfriend: but I’m home alone.
Me:
Also amazing TAS love to see the speedruning community do such amazing things. Love the TAS, and you guys are the best.
Dang this TAS guy is good
2:16 this part where Mario bljs across the entire stage always cracks me up
I hope someone is working on those 5 frames we need.
Mom: You have 5 minutes.
Me:
The most amazing thing about this TAS is how it makes the game look actually fun to play.
The moon walk at the end was 👌
To answer that we need to talk about paralel universes
Take a shot every time Mario says “yahoo”
Yes
Watching this again it makes me crack up every time Mario starts a BLJ and his voice clips start to overlap
Word. Especially when Mario warped behind Bowser at 2:15 , I was dead
Glad the credits are there, such a beautiful song.
I had to look away from the screen for a moment and by the time I looked back, the final Bowser battle was already said and done. You know you've achieved a god level speedrun when you can have "blink, and you'll miss it" as a genuine warning.
