- Hello Everyone.... This video is about my experience of riding the Triumph Street Twin in Bangalore. I rented this bike for few hours to experience how it felt in regular city riding. I've been wanting to ride this bike for a very long time and wanted to see how much better it felt than my Interceptor. So do I think that price difference is justified and does it feel 3x better than my Interceptor.....??? watch the video to find out..!!

1- Triumph ST you rode here is an older one, see the speedo, why is this important?- Coz newer one has 18% more power, 2 Riding modes, Reduced weight, retuned engine, Higher Reving (than previous one), Alcantara leather seats, Brembo Brakes, Higher spec KYB suspension, New Multi-Spoke Wheels, new Instrument cluster with BONNEVILLE badge..
2- Now coming to other feature lists of ST- Adjustable Brake & Clutch Levers, Torque assist Clutch, Switchable Traction Control, ABS, optional TPMS system & Handlebar heating system, Ryde-By-Wire, immobilizer security feature and the USB power socket, LED rear light, LCD instrument cluster which shows- Fuel available, Instant consumption, Avg Consumption, Distance to Empty, 2 Trip meters, Clock, Engine RPM, Gear Position indicator..
3- Coming to other things- 900cc parallel engine & Gearbox of ST is butter smooth, Paintjob is flawless (Iron Mat Stone colour is unique), around 140+ Accessory option from Factory, Heavy grunty & just loud enough Exhaust note with occasional pops & bangs- I assure you, no need to go for aftermarket option at all.
4- Feel-Good Factor of riding a BONNEVILLE heritage is something a classic lover can relate to.
650 Twins are an excellent venture from RE. We want more bikes like this from them. Yes, they (ST & 650s) look similar, coz both are trying to give us Classic Brit Bikes.
Since the day Zigwheels guys compared these two bikes, people have carried over their line "3 times" literally!!.. If you ask me, one who would consider Triumph will never consider RE, is it practical??? answer is "it depends" on how you value the above points.
If my video made you feel like I don't appreciate what the Street Twin offers in terms of quality or what Triumph as a brand offers in general then I would like to clarify that is not the case. Infact something like a Scrambler-1200 XE is on my bucket list.
I do know that the bike that I rode was not the latest one - plus even the tyres were not stock ones. And ofcourse the ST is a much better bike overall and that is something I stated in the beginning of the video itself buddy....I hope you understand that I'm not trying to belittle the brand or the bike here. I've made videos of shortcomings and issues I've faced with my Interceptor as well and I've been called a RE hater for that in the comments.
I love all kinds of motorcycles....and yes I will own a triumph in few years.... quite possibly a classic like a Scrambler-1200 or an adv.

New int 650 or a ST 2017 second hand for the same price, wich to choose?
If you have the budget for paying considerably more in terms of maintenance, parts etc and plan to ride mostly without a pillion because of the really low ground clearance - Then definitely the Street Twin - it's engine and parts quality is much superior.
Fortunate to have both these bikes and both are excellent. You may want to set your preload on the street twin. Luckily haven’t had any neutral issues with either bike
Hello is the heating in interceptor same as street twin? I get horrible heat in traffic from the twin.

Hi Satyendra.... Tubeless kit is working absolutely fine and I even encountered a puncture which took 2 minutes to fix.
I would strongly recommend this for Interceptor if you have Pirelli tyres.

Street Twin no doubt is an amazing machine but I do think uska price @9.5 lakhs bohot zada hai India me...plus iska ground clearance itna kam hai ki pillion ke saath bike ke damage hone ka chance bohot zada hai speed breakers par...to Indian conditions ke hisabse iski ground clearance kamsekam 150mm honi chahiye thi.

What you told makes sense on everything,except the price of interceptor...3.3 lakh for a home grown bike is a bit more..if it was 2.5 lakh this also would have justified...!!
Hi Jose... If we talk about other major homegrown manufacturers like Bajaj and TVS.. their most premium offerings are Dominar400 @2.4 lakhs churning around 40ps/35nm and Apache310 34ps/27nm @2.8 lakhs both of which are single cylinder motorcycles... So taking those into consideration I genuinely think that a price tag of around 3+ lakhs is justified for a Twin cylinder 47bhp, 52nm motorcycle.

@Jose if not ridden plz ride the interceptor it is unlike any other RE eg 350cc/500cc of Re wld hardly produce any pickup or power this one is insane fast
Liked the video. Good content man. Just one feedback, kindly try to include roll on acceleration feedback between both bikes. That is a major consideration and shows which bike is more practical to use in day to day life. I have only so far seen one other review which went into this point and that really set it apart.

Triumph because of its high torque does pull away faster in any gear but Interceptor isn't too far behind - Triumph offers 90% of its torque at around 3k rpm and INT provides about 80% at 2.5k rpm.... that's all statistics but in real life both the bikes can be ridden at lower speeds on higher gear which is a boon for city rides.
@@TheTwinPost oh that's good to know. The video I saw mentioned that the roll on acceleration of the interceptor in the range of 40-80 kmph was better. I think this was done in 4th gear.
Great video bro.... I'm recently planning to buy a bike and i have both of them in my bucket list (fyi: i recently got a job and have sufficient amount to buy) ... Can you give me your opinion for which i should buy first.? (I am also planning for ladakh trips)
Hi Siddharth.... Street Twin is a better bike overall no doubts about it. BUT it just cannot handle tall speedbrakers at all, so if you're planning something like a Ladakh ride which would require you to load luggage to your bike which would further affect the ground clearance of the bike.
Ladakh offers few stretches where you could potentially damage your Street Twin really bad by scraping the underbelly. If you're planning to ride alone on highways and city streets then Street Twin would be an amazing choice if budget permits.

@@TheTwinPost what do you think the best bike would be for Indian road? Because middleweight naked are good but those pot holes and speed breaker are Killer to this bikes and as far as retro bike concern situation is the same. I don't want any ADVs but I want to ride in city and occasionally for long. Which bike is better which is bigger than 600cc but not more than 10lakhs.
I was also rooting for iron 883 but it's heating issue in city traffic is unbearable so sadly I had to canel it.
If you're not interested in Naked sports bikes like the Z900, Street Triple-R, Gsxs750 because of the ground clearance issue and don't want to go twards an ADV then there aren't many options left .... something like a Triumph Street Scrambler 900 can do the job you're asking for.... It has a pretty decent ground clearance, bigger than 600cc, looks retro and sounds amazing as well....riding within city limits is easy plus you can mount some luggage and do touring since it's oretty comfy too....heats up alot lesser than the v-twins of harley and the Ducati Scrambler.... all that at around 9.6 lakhs.

I took this bike from wicked ride some weeks back. they have used a wrong size tyre at the rear. thats y the ground clearance became really worse on this particular bike. it was hitting smaller humps also just with rider. I informed them about wrong size while returning the bike.Another street twin i rode with stock tyre was not this bad even with pillion.
Hi Hari... I too noticed that they had installed a Timsun-689 150 section tyre. This is an interesting and really logical point. Even i enquired about the tyres but the representative had no idea about it and said that they just give the bike for servicing - parts are replaced if required and all they do is just pay the bill and the rest is not something that he was aware of.
Even the Continental GT-650 that they have has a 120 section Ralco tyre at the rear 🤷
@@TheTwinPost its not about 150 section. the aspect ratio and type of tyre is different. they used 150/60 radial tyre. stock is 150/70 bias ply. That reduce the sidewall height significantly.
So please don't give a generalised comment in video or comment saying you cannot ride this bike on speed breakers. i have ridden stock bike. i was able to manage with pillion better than this particular bike with wrong size tyre.
I understand what you meant.... I'm saying that looking at the tyre I realised that it isn't the stock tyre since this bike comes with Pirelli Phantoms as stock. This bike even with stock tyres can tackle regular breakers but with a pillion it isn't that good in that.
A popular youtuber *Sriman Kotaru* owns a recent version of this bike (not the latest one which was launched this month) and even he showcased similar issue - funny enough even his pillion got off the bike a couple of times at speed breakers.

Yes. Triumph is 3 times better or more.
Is this possible if we place the street twin exhaust in interceptor as the street exhausts are slightly small and they are not high like interceptor because if we put any saddle bag then it has the chances of getting burned but this is not the case in street twin and moreover the sound is amazing in street twin exhaust...
So can we place Street twin exhaust in Interceptor?
One thing I'm sure of is that these won't directly fit the Interceptor pipes... And the engine noise of the StreetTwin is very meaty and bass heavy....quite different from the Interceptor so I honestly don't think that the Int-650 would sound like the triumph even with its exhausts.

@@TheTwinPost thanks because any exhaust note that you put after mkt is illegal and moreover the exhausts of ST is fitted by the truimph only so not fix that in interceptor and I have also seen one video on RUclips where a guy fixed ST exhausts in interceptor and sound is quite good

this is absurd to say Street twin's underbelly scrapes through the breakers, and pillion had to get off the bike. that's totally ridiculous. I have never ever felt that's a problem riding in Delhi, either you have the wrong tyre size (in the video one can see they are not Pirelli Phantom) or you are totally biased. Also, no reviewer or owner of Stwin has ever complained or gear shifting issues.
Talking about Triumphs....i love the motorcycles they make...infact Scrambler1200 and Tiger are on my bucket list whenever I can afford them.
Regarding gearshifts: Express Drives
You can check their review...they also mentioned that the gear shifts felt hard.
Regarding the pillion getting off the bike - Even Sriman Kotaru (RUclipsr) who owns a Street Twin has made videos on it....in one such video he test rode a brand new Street Twin with a pillion where even his pillion got off the bike at one of the speedbreakers and he was riding a brand new bike with Pirelli Phantoms.
And yes the one that I rode was running with different tyres which also contributed.
As was mentioned earlier, adjusting the preload on rear shocks has mitigated the ground clearance issues on my street twin.
Being vertically challenged (relatively), the street twins 756mm seat height makes a huge difference in comfort especially when we’re talking about 200kg plus bikes.
Simply put, the street twin’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing and I’m lovin’ it
Hi Amit... As much as I love my bike there's no denying the fact that the Street Twin is in another league when it comes to overall fit n finish plus the quality of parts used...plus the stock exhaust sound is something which even makes the Speed Twin's exhaust sound feel okayish (my personal opinion).
I do feel even with the preload adjustment there will still be an issue if you have a pillion who's a bit on the heavier side (I weigh 83 kgs and my brother who was my pillion in this video weighs around 90 kgs - he's 6'2) with tall speed breakers.
You said the speed twins underbelly scraps on speed braker but you never show it and you said sometimes you even have to stop the bike at speed bumps which sounds ridiculous. You must be paid by Enfield
Hi there Imocha...the bike in this video is the *Street Twin* and not the *Speed Twin* , also I did show the instance of the bike scraping it's underbelly on a speed breaker at 3:25 of the video please take a look....and please check 3:54 where I have stopped the bike and you can see my pilliom getting off the bike (in the rear view mirror you can see it clearly). There's a pretty famous motovlogger named *Sriman Kotaru* who owns a Street Twin and he has addressed this issue in his videos as well.
Lastly - Sir you think Enfield would pay me who has 2.7k subscribers to make videos on Triumph..??
My previous videos have been on the issues I've faced with the Enfield where few people said that I have been paid to talk bad about Enfield 😆.

Triumph Street twin is for 8.52 L in UK
Hi Dhruva... I got this price from the Oxford Triumph in UK who were providing the best deal that I could find online.
Going to buy the Street Twin cos you just can’t put a price on the feel good factor. I’m getting the triumph next month didn’t even consider the RE
People who can afford a Street Twin would definitely not look towards RE....and that's exactly why I said in the beginning that overall ST is a much better motorcycle than the Int-650.
The feel good factor that Street twin provided me was great....it's just that it never made me feel I was riding a 9 lakhs worth bike....not taking away the fact that it's a really good bike. Plus the ground clearance is something which bothered me alot.
I would definitely consider buying a Triumph in future...but I would probably go for something like a Scrambler-1200 but that's just my personal preference.

If RE increases the price of the Interceptor by around 1.00/1.5 lac, they can certainly produce a bike with equivalent quality, fit and finish. Also do note that the comparison is not fair as the Triumph is +250 CC. In fact, this is a plus point for the Interceptor, as it can match up to a 900 CC Triumph ! In any case, all things considered, the Interceptor is by far, the better bike. Not to mention the haughty, stiff necked and snub nosed staff at Triumph, who think they are doing the customer a favour. Of course, the scene is not very different at the RE dealerships, but I would still favour the RE for coming out with a bike so good in nearly every respect. I should know............I own one of the first releases !
At 3 lakhs Interceptor is definitely a steal to be honest... And yes that snub thing has happened with me at Triumph (Delhi) and Banelli (Bangalore) dealerships where they have denied a test ride after learning that my current bike is a RC390 (at that time). Suddenly their test bike wasn't available...and at Banelli they were worse.

Gearbox quality of triumph is very good compare to intercepter..

Sure if you own one then that's great.... The one that I rode clearly felt to have harder gear shift than the Interceptor comparatively.

And for reference please do check out the video on 'Express Drives' YT channel as well as they too found the gear shifts to be a little hard.

Hi Hari....there are quite olanfew similarities between these two machines... the 270 degree crank, the kind of tyres they run on, modern classic style and even performance wise they are not far from each other. There's a reason why even leading automotive channels have made videos on this topic... Bennett's Bike from UK .....Zig Wheels from India.
Sure it's 3 times better as triumph stands for quality
But it's also 3 times the price
Disliked the video for comparing the old generation Street Twin for the comparison. At least get the current gen which is faster, has better suspension, riding modes, better brakes than the old gen
Hi Mandeep.... This was a rented bike which I got from *wicked ride* Bangalore and my bike is also a 2019 BS-4 variant.
@@TheTwinPost the interceptor has not gone through any significant changes.
What I did notice is that the newer ones feel a tad smoother.
And sir like I said in the beginning - Street Twin is a much better motorcycle than the INT no doubts about it....I just wish it had more ground clearance to suit our conditions.
If money isn't a concern then obviously one would choose the Triumph....I personally travel with a pillion so this isn't for me...rather I would save some more and get the Scrambler 1200 XE and get the regular mounted exhaust on it.

You should be comparing same segment bikes. These are two different segments and therefore should not be compared. This way, tomorrow you start comparing Tiger with a Himalayan.
Ofcourse they are from different segments...but they have quite a few similarities as well for the 'type' of bikes they are.
Performance wise these are not very far from each other... Even their 270° crank.
ZigWheels did it.... UK channels like Bennets Bikes did it too.

Indeed....but the issue is population.
Major cities like Delhi, Mumbai etc have a really high density of population....trust me i haven't recorded videos in high traffic places.
