I bet the elders men riding to the forbidden land said. "Look even if he makes it there, he'd have to kill 16 colossi with just a sword. The lad will probably get killed by the first one or just tuck tail and run home. Why are we even going here?"
Maybe it's from experience finding it over and over but I searched for the whole OST and when I read "Revived" the first riff played in my head and when I clicked it and was that I just smiled
People always talk about how the mournful colossus death song and the events of the game strongly imply that killing the colossi is not a good thing overall, but even so, this song openly acknowledges that scaling a living mountain and killing it is damn impressive.
What this game does is play around with the Heroes journey trope. Wander is an anti hero. The Princess is already dead, so saving her is a tall order. The evil God plays the role of Mentor rather than villain, and the wise village elder takes the villain’s place. By entering this forbidden land and killing these Colossi we almost unleashed an unstoppable monster onto the world until they stopped us.
Yeah I imagine the ending of this song playing behind a story of legends past in the beginning of a movie or video game. Very good music to listen to while trying to make a D&D Campaign!
In all my lifetime hearing many different songs on different media, I consider this the ultimate epic adventure song. Because it is epic, "adventurous" and, most importantly, kind of mysterious.
Never played it as a kid (Nintendo child) and then heard this awesome track on a JonTron video. Years later I finally played the remake on my PS4 and maaan what an experience.
This song describes perfectly the feeling of climbing a giant monster and feeling the wind against your body as you hold tightly into his fur so you don't fall, while still determined to kill the beast.
1:16 is so underrated to me - so bright and triumphant! Every time Shadow of the Colossus music is knocked down, these uploads just keep climbing back up like Wander. Shows how timeless it is!
There is a high chance that this game has the most brilliant soundtrack a game ever had. Shadow of the Colossus couldn't exists without it. Every enemy you encounter gains character and the fight becomes an emotional journey only because of the musics quality.
Your fortress is surrounded on all sides by the enemy. You've held out for longer than expected, but your defenses will give way at any moment now, and the horde will pour through and slaughter you all. As you rally your remaining troops together, saying your goodbyes and telling them it's been an honor, the earth trembles beneath you. The men in the lookout tower blow the horn, and are shouting with excitement. You peer off into the distance, and see a black mass pouring from the mountains. Your friend made it through after all... and they've brought the cavalry.
Every theme in this game is great, but this one just stands out. Now if only it wasn't played on the colossi that are either too quick (Barba), uninteresting (Quadratus), or annoying (Basaran). Oh well, who cares about that when this song is this epic!
the sounds of glory after three hundred attempts and several deaths in the fight with a colossus... ...damn, this should be considered a work of art in the louvre museum.

The phrase "The mad bastard is actually doing it." Personified in song.

Yes :) Because when I first discovered Shadow of the Colossus, this was the most popular song I heard but today I prefer Counterattack

"This is wrong, but also holy crap."
"You shouldn't have done that, but damn"
Sentence from my sister when I played this for her in the car: “this makes me feel like I’m on a horse, not a car”
But oh no, not a horse. A 600 feet tall giant bleeding oil
"correct"
I named my first car Agro for a reason
@thelombax2002 I got told it was a tradition to name your first car when I got it. My current one's just 'my car'.

When you realize it's the same guy who composed the ost for Outlaw Star too : D
Wait seriously?!!
I thought I heard some similarities, outlaw star is in my top 3 anime shows
He also composed for various kaiju movies such as Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah, giant monsters all out attack and the Heisei Gamera trilogy.
