This was the track that when I first played this game, and first heard it, made me realize that I was witnessing one of the greatest video games soundtracks of all time.
For me, its the percussion that really sells this song. The orchestra is as sweeping and epic as the rest of the OST, and is absolutely beautiful. But something about how loud and violent the drums sound sells exactly how powerful and terrifying fighting a giant truly is.
Yess, the percussion is so incredible in these combat tracks. Here it's like thunderous footsteps, but in others like A Despair-Filled Farewell it creates a continuous roar throughout the track. No need to even mention the strings 😲This soundtrack is something special.
Aw dude i was so young when i first played it too. I remember getting it at 5 below. I think I only ever got past the first colossus because my ps2 never had a memory card so i would have to fight the first boss so many times. This song was played on the tv so much as a kid and after being reunited with it 14 years later, its just as beautiful as it was to little ol me. One day I will have to beat this game to satisfy younger me.

@@frantheman0619 I already have one for PS4 and there’s a couple great games but I would love to see this one made in VR, a good VR game that’s stupid fun is GORN. If you haven’t heard of it just think of the movie gladiator and that explains most of what it is. Really fun game.
This game would still be groundbreaking and one of a kind should it release out of the blue this day. The soundtrack might be the best ever composed for a video game.
Check out the HD remake released a few years ago, if you haven't already. It makes an already impressive game even more spectacular. My one and only complaint is the controls and how they interact with the physics sometimes. They're kind of bad. Better in the remake, but still pretty frustrating.
@@Lycanthromancer1 I'm fine with the janky walking and climbing, since it makes the simple act of running up a colossi's back more intense and terrifying, since if you aren't careful, you can easily fall off. What I'm not fine with is how it can sometimes spazz out and clip you off a ledge or fling you super far even when you were grabbing on.
I can remember the exact moment I knew this was a Legendary game after climbing my way to the top of beardys head and getting ready to sink my sword into his skull he started head banging to that bit at 0:36 I had no stamina and he flung me high into the air but as I came crashing down he positioned his beard perfectly and instead of hitting the floor I grasped onto his beard and finished him off...it felt so Epic, what a game.
when i first played this game in 2006 (i was 16) and at 0:37 (that music part) I realized I was just a tiny human with a horse (and with a tiny sword) fighting litterally a colossus... With the best OST... Change my opinion; this is the game with the best PS2 graphics

The best song on an already incredible soundtrack. This, to me, is the essence of Shadow of the Colossus condensed into two minutes. It is powerful, harrowing, sweeping, epic, and exciting, but it carries with it a melancholy throughline, and I think that last part is the real majesty. How a song can manage to be so exhilarating and yet so sad at the same time is nothing short of breathtaking.
Ah yes, my favorite 2nd phase theme. While Revived Power may be more epic, this song really emphasizes the STRUGGLE that you are going through. You need to climb this giant colossus and kill it. You can do it, but no one said it was going to be easy. 1:27 this part is music genius. Just thought I'd throw that out there. BUM BUM BUMBUM
I have been whistling this loads recently and despite listening to it every so often, it still gives me goosebumps! Amazing piece of music for a truly remarkable game!

Truly by far, Shadow of the Colossus was a masterpiece, a staple point if video game history. Both in gameplay and music, the game is exemplary! I can only hope that someday, a true sequel, that surpasses the bar set by the original, will be released. It was the game’s creator Fumito Ueda had originally planned for there to be 48 Colossi, but due to hardware limitations, had to be reduced to 24, then later only the original 16. Imagine what could be done with the far superior hardware of today! We have Virtual Reality! There are games out there the size of entire universes, complete with their own economic systems! I can only imagine what a game they could make!
I remember taking the controler from my family when we were gathered around to play this game and everyone was so terrified of the first colossus. I was shaking running up to it and climbing that thing, i couldnt have been more than 12. Such an amazing game.
I remember playing this on the PS2, when i was grabbed on a colossus this would play. Now in the PS4 it's even better with the quality. This song just gives you that adrenaline when fighting them, Honestly, What makes this game so awesome it's not just the soundtrack, but knowing it's just you, your horse, and them in the Forbidden Lands.
It's cute as heck, but I find the guy filming it more impressive. Did you know that kitten claws dig all the way through pants? It looks cute, but it hurts like hell when the tip gets caught in your skin.
