I saw someone else talking about how Mirabel is the only one who communicates and understands casita and it makes so much sense
Her abuela does that too
like the person above just said, her abuela does that too. they both have a connection with casita. it might mean one of the reasons mirabel didn’t get a gift is because she’s abuela’s successor (I saw this theory on a video somewhere) and it makes sense because mirabel opens the door to the new casita at the end. maybe that was her door all along. but yeah this is just what I think :)
This is why the front door to the new Casita has HER doorknob. She is Abuela Alma’s natural successor, and “her” door is the Casita’s door.
I love this movie so much- and I love Mírabel as a main character so much. She is so relatable. (I’m not Latina, but I get her role in her family SO MUCH.) Also her voice actress absolutely nailed it.
Abuela always thought Mirabel doesn't have a power and it convinces Mirabel that she really doesn't have a power but the truth is their house, Casita, is her power and that she holds the casita. That's why it started breaking everytime Abuela tells her that she should stay aside.
@@popolfortee3002 she commands the castle. She doesn’t talk to it like Mirabel
My eight year old commented, “I think she got a gift, she just didn’t get a door.” And I really love that.
Exactly! She already had a gift, she just didn't need a room for it. Well said, I really love that too
You have a brilliant kid right there! 😊
She got the front door in the end. Her room is the entire house.
Awww!! Love this so much! What a sweet little one
❤❤❤
Shook to see Stephanie have such a naturally high voice after seeing her on Brooklyn 99 😭😭
THATSSSS where i recognize her face from. never seen Brooklyn 99 but i’ve seen memes and that’s where she’s from 😭
Me too 🤣🤣 I was like OMG I couldn’t tell that was her voice 🤯
That's familiar to the actresses voice
I love her “Rosa”! This is so weird.
You should watch her in ( in the heights) another Lin manual Miranda musical but she is in the film adaptation
Mirabel is just like abuela. She didn't get a gift, she was born with it. She takes care of the family and makes sure that their miracle is safe. Mirabel is the next matriarch of the family Madrigal.
Yes, that makes sense!!
yep!
Exactly :-)

If there was a sequel in the making, then it could be about Abuela Alma passing away and Mirabel taking her role.
we don’t talk about bruno is literally perfection it is probably my favorite disney song of all time
It's so catchy hehe
i am MARRIED TO DOLORES' PART HOLY SHT THAT WAS SO GOOD
Circle of life?
@@michiyoymzk4504 RIGHT ITS SOOO GOOD
@@michiyoymzk4504 omg SAME but also Camilo's part, SO GOOD
Fun fact: Bruno's original name was Oscar, but Lin asked the writers to change it to Bruno because it would work for the song about him.
Thats what I thought because I was like how do they match the “we don’t talk about Bruno no no no” so well like did they write the song first and then choose his name cause “we don’t talk about Oscar no no no” would sound weird. Idk if that makes sense
@@gisellejakeline277 No that makes sense. I get what you're saying
I can’t imagine it as Oscar like, “we don’t talk about Oscar, car car”? Makes no sense
@@gisellejakeline277 oscar ar ar ar would be great
I love the way Mirabel prononces Bruno in the "ah, Bruno... well, about that Bruno..." part!
it's so fantastic how latin and asian culture are similar in some points, the filipino animator talking about how abuela was like their mom is a nice detail
Yeah! I'm Indonesian and while Raya is supposed to represent southeast asian culture, i feel more connected to Encanto because Encanto shows the real culture that's more connected to the people, and shows the dynamics in a colombian family, and i can relate to encanto a lot!
Yes and although Raya is all about our pure ethnic culture here in southeast asian. But this latin culture like Coco,Encanto and other latin theme animated movies like book of life, vivo etc. are giving more vibes on pre modern filipino culture and lifestyle in some points.
I thought I was the only one! As a Filipino, at first I feel guilty that I connected more with Coco and Encanto which are movies about Latin culture more than I did with Raya, which is a movie for our very own South East Asia. But then I realized it's because those movies are focused more about family relationships and given the history of our country, our family values tend to align more with Latin cultures about valuing our family.
I think that says a lot and I can't help but wish that our representation was also focused on family themes. But still, I'm happy I can connect with other culture through shared values!
just for the record, i'm brazilian. some people forget we're latinos because we don't speak spanish, but we have those shared values with our neighbor countries and after watching some filipino doramas i notice i connect more with them than to US shows
@@maeo1612 well since the philippines were also colonized by the spanish it would make sense to have some common traditions with latinos
If Dos Oruguitas doesn't win an Emmy I'm rioting
Oscar but I'm down with the riot idea. Stupid people of the Academy go with high minded 'art' and not 'the masses'. Randy Newman never got the respect his work deserves.
@@constancemiller3753 if you don't riot for real, I'll send people to your house for real.
A Grammy... or Oscar!!
I'll ride along with you and I know many others who would join!
I love the part when Abuela touched her earrings and fix herself, it’s a subconscious thing and it felt so realistic and you have to be really attentive to catch that. Just like how Hayao Miyazaki opened the jaws of his dog and applied into the dragon.
THIS. It literally feels so familiar and casual, like you're holding your abuelita back from being on time to the morning church
YEah that was a great call on the animator's part, he really did the right thing using his mom as direct inspiration! You can feel the authenticity in it.
I know it's Dreamworks, but it also reminds me of one of the animators of that film talking about how he'd have Moses' adopted mom touching his face and caressing his cheeks a lot because his own mother would do that.
And how the animator for Ariel liked to draw her biting her lip because that's what his wife would do. I love seeing artists put themselves and those they love in their work!
Time stamp?

english is not even my first language, but when Dos Oruguitas played, i BAWLED. it sounds so sad, tragical but also peaceful, familiar and full of love at the same time. the lyrics wasnt even translated in english in my theater. its amazing ❤️
That's amazing. If you read the English translation, it will make you cry harder. I cried the first time I saw it/heard it because I know Spanish. The song along with the animation makes it so much heartbreaking and hopeful.
That song is so so so beautiful, it makes me cry every time
I love how Lin’s songs were brought to life by amazing visuals, the whole experience was mesmerizing.
Knowing that a Filipino animator is part of this masterpiece is overwhelming. It made me love Encanto even more.
Dos Oruguitas, Dos Oruguitas, Dos Oruguitas!!! The build up/crescendo(?) to the Dos Mariposas line is so beautiful, I tear up every single time I hear it. Oscar Nomination and hopefully win for a most beautiful song. I wish I had the talent, and was much younger, I'd love to work for Mr Miranda someday. He is genius!
This NEEDS to get a Best Song Oscar nod. My Spanish is absolutely terrible these days, so I took time to study the lyrics the other day, and WOW. The lyrics blow you away in the original language. (I had a similar reaction to “Remember Me” from Pixar’s “Coco” when I concentrated on the lyrics in the intended language. Both songs are so much more powerful in Spanish.)
I cry every time I hear it. In my head it's Abuelo Pedro singing about his and Alma's love story. Am I making the tears worse for myself? Yes.
I love that, song. Esa cancion es divina.
I’m sure I’d think so too if I had any idea what he was saying.
@@tgcme1 The English version is on the Soundtrack and at the end of the movie during the credits.
personally think that the movie is about trying to live up the grandma's expectations. Just like Mirabel says " we will never be good enough." we experience it a lot in Hispanic and Latin homes. If we try to express our feelings we are seen as being dramatic. If we have depression it's not considered valid. You're seen as lazy. Because if you're not successful you're nothing in their eyes. It's a lot of pressure. Like Luisa's song. " I'm pretty sure I'm worthless if I can't be of service."
Knowing there's a Filipino animator involved in creating this masterpiece is such a joy. Encanto more than a movie really hits home since I really relate to the characters, the struggle within the family, and that in the end, you'll always go back to your family because they are one of the greatest foundation that you could have in this world.
you dont really think about it but Philippines was heavily affected by latin and spanish culture
hence me as a filipino being able to relate HEAVILY with the film
its amazing kudos!
I've seen and talked to people of Philippines in social media and I'd say they were part of LATAM and their isles must have moved from our continent some time ago 😂
I've heard them use Spanish words too (I'm from latam btw)
true, I like this movie way too much and I felt like it has a touch of Filipino with it, and it did! The animator was Filipino it's amazing hahaha
@@GameRock06 the reason for this is that the Philippines was colonized by the Spaniards for 333 years. Filipino culture and are heavily influenced by Spain!
my dad did say that one of the shirts a character was wearing also belonged to filipino people too (i’ve also seen the shirt been worn on filipino people too)
Me too!!!
Kudos to the Filipino animators. It really touches our heart
EVERY TIME I hear “Dos origuitas” my heart breaks… That scene hurts a lot… I’ll never recover from that.
So proud of Mikee Sevilla!! Such an inspiration to the young Filipino animators today!!
"We Don't Talk About Bruno" is my jam! 😁😁😁
Disney for the win, I really love this movie. So relatable for Latin culture. My two favorite songs “we don’t talk about Bruno” & “Dos oruguitas”.
*So i'm Mirabels age and I relate to her a ton, I literally saw myself in her like as a character. I needed new glasses, and I made them look like Mirabels and went around school showing them off, everyone's singing we don't talk about Bruno. This movie has given me so many different ideas and I've created so many different alternative universes in my head, my creativity is booming rn. This and Turning Red were so cool. Great job! I'm looking forward to this being a part of my teenagehood memories when I grow up. Im already smiling abt it. :)*
Yep, Lin’s about to be an EGOT winner with Encanto - “Dos Oruguitas” is such an emotional song on its own, but add in the storyline, and it’s heart wrenching. An EGOT for him would be well deserved!!
“We don’t talk about Bruno” has been stuck in my head for three days and I CAN’T GET IT OUT
ITS ADDICTING
It dethroned Let It Go...
@@cargo71 Did it really? I'm not surprised though. Let It Go was a good song but let's be honest, it's not better than We Don't Talk About Bruno.
I love Mirabelle's dress, this physics is great, I want to see it live
“We don’t talk about Bruno” is a cut above the rest!! Not even a competition!
… maybe “The family Madrigal” second🤷♂️
if only they interviewed more cast members
Rotten tomatoes has an interview with more cast members, the screen writer, and the directors.
There’s a part 1 of this
I thought nothing would top Coco but I was wrong, Encanto was just as amazing!! Both made me cry 😭
I absolutely loved this movie my daughter and I watched it so many times and I did cry at the end when I first saw it because even though I’m not Latina I relate to some things when it comes to family.. so it really connected me in ways I never thought I also love the music too even though I didn’t understand the Spanish part it was just so beautiful to hear. I love seeing other cultures, it is just so amazing to see and learn from! I hope they make a second one!❤️❤️
We don't talk about bruno keeps playing in my head even weeks after watching the movie😅
WHAAAAAAAAAAAT? the animator is a filipino? whaat? deeng! You make us proud!
This was my favorite movie of all time. I love the music and everything about it! My favorite song was" we don't talk about Bruno" I watch this movie about 10 times already!
That horn line Lin talks about at the beginning is LITERALLY my favorite part of the song!!! That's crazy that he pointed it out!
I love Waiting On A Miracle... honestly I love ALL the songs😭💕
the animators deserve a lot of credit for this beautiful cartoon as well...wonderfully made
🧡🧡
This movie just shows how diverse Stephanie is. I’ve known her from B99 for years, and to hear her sing some pretty high notes was quite cool.
The ending “and gave us a miracle” always gives me chills
I love Stephanie's voice. So beautiful
I wonder why they didn't talk about surface pressure at all? That song hit me the hardest out of everything in the movie. Pretty much bawled. 😅
I was thinking the same ! Louisa is also the only one who doesn't have part in 'We don't talk about Bruno' !! (except Antonio, who's too young to know about him). the movie did not do her character justice at all !
Hi im am from philippines i love this movie so much the ending makes me cry and finally it came out in movie hd sending love from ph😁❤
It would be awesome if Disney would make a movie animation like this based on the culture and music of the Philippines and Lin-Manuel to write the lyrics and songs but it’s like shooting-for-the-stars-impossible 😅😅
Hopelessly dreaming for that dream to come true hahaha
@@ellagracelle1871 i think disney should start making tons of these types of movies taking place in different places around the world! but its unlikely 😞
@@ellagracelle1871 agree, and i wish Lea Salonga and other artist from PH could be part of it. 😊
@@ellagracelle1871 i keep thinking about that too, ever since moana came out~ raya was ok but it would be nice to have something closer to the philippines. Also with songs!
@@thekaryodysseys6360 haha same here! Ever since Moana came out I was like “oohhh we finally got a brown disney heroine! She kinda does look like me but not really, hope we get a brown asian one as well” and then we got Raya, but all I see are indo-chino faces and our Arnis 😂😅
But you know, we can only dream haha as it’s next to IMPOSSIBLE!
Love the capybara that wouldn't move 🤣🤣🤣
His eyes! hahaha
Stephanie saying she cried the most during the song Dos Oruguitas:
Me who cried during We don't talk about bruno whenever Camilo was singing: ... :D
IKR ME TOO
I can't believe another Filipino blood again in this amazing and magical disney movie "Encanto". Such an honor to be a Filipino, you are really a pride to all kababayans..Kudos to YOU. Me and my daughter can't last a day without any songs play in the house. In just a day I already memorize 'we don't talk about bruno'..😂 that is what encanto did to us..the impact is really inevitable. Soooooo happy..keep up and congratulations for amazing illustrations. MABUHAY♥️
This movie makes my heart sing ❤️
Hi, I'm from the Philippines and I am very proud that one of the animators in Encanto is a Filipino. Galing! Sending love, support, and a lot of praises from the Philippines.
Really? Filipino?
I’m even more proud of it!
Im here for Sebastian Yatra(I’m a fan of him since 2016) but now I’m happier that there’s some Pinoy there!
Dos orugitas made me cry Too. Opened up my heart wound haha.then cried again on Carlos Vives valleys song haha
Since I speak Spanish I was crying so hard when I heard 'Dos Origitas'
And every single song that's sung in Spanish, is so much BETTER in Spanish. I say this as a Swedish person!
Heard them sang in other language (English, Swedish), and it just doesn't have the same beauty. Colombia, mi Encanto is one of the happiest songs and ALWAYS makes me smile!!
when one of the animators, Mikee Sevilla, turned out to be Filipino,,, I REALLY FELT SO EXCITEED AND PROUD THO??? encanto's a rlly great film too
I'm so glad they interviewed one of the animators because I always feel like that they get left out because people focus so much on the cast
I love that Colombia is being represented with this movie. I actually just automatically assumed it was a Mexican family. Also was really surprised to hear “Rosa Diaz” (from the Brooklyn nine nine show) actual voice!! and that she can sing Wow!!
I love Dos Oruguitas is the song I cry at every single time I’ve watched this movie. It is just so beautiful
Latinos, Afro-Latinos, and Filipinos in one magical film
We got Coco and now Encanto, I really hope some day we get another movie showing off the Caribbean (As a Puerto Rican, I would of course love one focused on Borinquen), and other countries. Show all the wonderful parts of Latin America!
I already watched the movie,3x yes 3x 😆 absolutely love it
My family has watched it 5 times already! We love it!
i watched it 9 times lol
I lost count lol
I watched the movie and I am obsessed with the song "We Don't talk about Bruno" its sooo good!
I am enthralled that they hired a Filipino animator for this film. It must be the reason why Encanto hits home for me. We’re so proud of you, Mikee Sevilla! and all the other animators and casts who have given life to this masterpiece. Kudos!
I love the animator.. Filipino present here HAHAAH
We don't talk about bruno also got stuck in my head sooo much
Another Pinoy pride animator of this movie is a Filipino! Wow so so proud!
As a Filipino which we are highly influenced by Latin cultures. We can relate the great story of Encanto which portrays family, love, culture, and magic. Everyone is special and loved, with gift or no gift. Thank you Disney!
Carlos Vives is amazing, he has so much soul when he sings, you just get up and dance in all his songs.
Every single song in Encanto was amazing. But I completely fell in love with Dos Oruguitas, and the performance makes it perfect
Every song in this film is amazing. But dos oruguitas wrecks me every time I hear it. I don’t even speak Spanish but it is the most beautiful song.
bro saying these ppl are talented is such an understatement
Wow! The animator is from the Philippines! 😍 proud Filipino here..♥️
mikee sevilla i hope to see u make an amazing musical filipino animated disney movie in the future!!! your works are AMAZING!!
awh as a filipino, seeing the filipino animator suprised me and made me really happy!!
As a filipino, i'm so proud that one of the animators of encanto is a filipino and LGBTQ!!!
"teaches us how to draw a capybara"
*continues to just draw and not teach*
My TTS heart can’t stop thinking of Waiting in the Wings when it comes to waiting on a miracle
THE ANIMATOR OF ENCANTO IS A FILIPINO???
WOWWW PROUD OF YOU FROM PHILIPPINES
I LOVES ENCANTO (plz make a another encanto
Aside from the story and songs, what I really loved about the movie is the effects. Hair and clothes are so soft and bouncy with the appropriate swishes and the facial expresions and body language with all the nuances. Disney has really come so far to promote people of all color and culture, not just white.
Dos oroguitas is something else
OMG I DIDN'T KNOW THAT ROSA VOICED MIRABEL 😯😯😯
I swear. Someone be cutting up onions every time dos oruguitas plays
Dos Origuitas made me really cry.
I need a spin off centered on Dolores and Camilo.
This is the only movie that I’ve gotten goosebumps to the music
Lin is an absolute BEAST! He is just so amazingly talented
Dos Orugitas made me cry soooo much
you just gotta love Lin
I would definitely want Isabela’s gift if I could have one. It just seems so cool pretty and powerful.
i LOVE THIS MOVIE really warms my heart
Make encanto2 everyone wants it
So proud of you Filipino animator 😍😍
we want an encanto 2😭😭😭😭..
Yessssssssss
Colombia has given us some of the funniest, most surprisingly exuberant films and series on Netflix and other streaming channels. I can’t wait to see this.
Dos Oruguitas me hace llorar sin fallar 😭 La letra es tan dolorosa pero real
No wonder why I felt deeply connected with this film cause one of the animators is a Filipino! 🥰 Hello Kabayan! So proud of you that you're part of the making of Encanto movie! 😁 The culture of Colombia/Spanish is really similar to the Philippines. And I can relate to Luisa, being the strongest in the family and the part where she sang the Surface Pressure and that she needs to take a break sometimes because everything feels so heavy already... 😅I don't know but there's something about this movie that I really love. 10/10 Disney Encanto! 🥰 I literally can watch this film everyday! 🥰
We Don't Talk About Bruno will be the most memorable song
I was literally shocked when the ANIMATOR spoke in TAGALOG!!!! I mean, I'm a FILIPINO and I didn't know that the Animator was also a FILIPINO. I'M VERY VERY VERY PROUD!!
Love, from the Philippines❤
Im a proud Filipino here!😩🖐️
I thought Dos oruguitas was an old ballad, didn't know it was made for the movie 🤯
Yooo filipino animator the bestttt
Seeing that one of the animators is Filipino, makes me really want to become an animator someday😍
The music is amazing!!!
The music is soooo amazinggggg!!!! Beautiful!!!
Me encanta que usen palabras en español latino en la versión en inglés... Y me encanta cada canción de esta maravillosa película!!!!❤️❤️❤️
I wish they had gone over what else can I do, it’s basically the best song in the entire movie for me.
Si a beautiful movie, haven’t seen in a long time, reflecting the true love in family which is accepting everyone and help them be their best, and also that when you work together in a family , the casita ( the power of the family) never breaks down!
Love it! Thanks to everyone who made this possible!
Lots of thing to learn!
My inspiration was from abuela, sometimes we don’t know the past of someone , she suffered and that suffer turn her into a hard shield to protect her family.
Hope to see next movie Madrigal 2
And see how Mirabel turns into the new family leader, and some clips to see abuela finally reunited with Abuelo Pedro.
They didn't talk enough about the making of We don't talk about Bruno. I mean I love Dos oruguitas but That song deserved to be nominated for Oscar!
To be honest Dos Oruguitas represents more the pain of Colombia during the world and Sebastian’s emotions made it even better. That song is underrated even though made everyone cry(you can see from the views that it’s underrated more than other songs) and m that song deserves to be nominated in the Oscars
Musically and lyrically for me that song is the best song of the movie
