    What Ive found easiest was, if old carpet is still in good condition without dry rotting or holes, trace and cut the new carpet on top of your old carpet for an exact fit for perfect and easy installation

    Looks great. I love my old Bullet. It’s now 24 years old. It’s been drinking for a while. Did mine myself. Bullet sells the carpet for its boats. The front deck is already cut and has finished edge. It was a lot less work than yours. It’s been 10-12 years and still looks good. I probably won’t do it again myself, I’m getting too old.

    When I did my boat, I bought a couple of wire brush attachments for my impact driver, put some Goof-Off on the glue, let it sit for about 20 seconds then went over it with the wire brush and finished the front deck in 15 minutes

    • @BassGeek
      @BassGeek  4 года назад

      The front deck wasn't really the issue, it was under the driver console. It was tacky. It was a 2 day deal. I had to use goof off and scrap it would just muck up wire brushes and sand paper just didn't work.

    Hey all you needed to remove the carpet is 2 gallons of gasoline and a lowes spray bottle .
    Step 1 , remove all obstacles
    Step 2 , soak carpet let set for 2 to 3 minutes, then the carpet will just peel off.
    Step 3 , re spray after carpet is off to wipe excess glue residue.
    Then just place carpet mark and cut , clean surface and glue then let tack . Lay carpet and smooth out .
    The end

      Just a my opinion, I restore these bass boats for a living, I do about 2 to 3 carpet jobs a week by myself, I have found over the years that it is actually a waste of time to go as far as you guys did, as long as you use a sharp scraper or sander and knock off the top layer and smooth it up, what is left on the boat is not going to effect the glue sticking. Start to finish on tearing down and prepping a boat for carpet takes me about 3hours mainly because of that, because if it is stuck on good enough where you need a solvent to get it off then it wasn’t coming off for awhile lol

      I cut out a square out at the corners. That's a good start. Then I cut just a the inside corner of that so you don't have to fight the overlap. Just cutting the squares are a good start.

      Basically you cut them the same way he did, where you cut a 90 degree angle towards the corner but instead of going all the way to the corner, you stop about 3/8 of an inch from the corner, that allows you plenty to go around the corner and butt the carpet ends together.
