I started bass fishing back in the '80s. Back then if you want the best boat it had to be a Ranger boat. I love watching young people save things like this. Pretty much these days we live in a throwaway society. If something breaks we throw it out and buy new.
I enjoyed your video I definitely hit the like and subscribe button.

Turned out good, but if I could make a couple of suggestions. First off is you should lay out the carpet in the same direction, all carpet has a grain to it and if you don’t lay it all in the same direction then it will look lighter and darker across the boat. I would also suggest using weldwood spray grade contact adhesive through a gravity fed paint gun. It is pricier but you will not regret it, you don’t have to use clamps and it sticks so much better, because you can get a much better coverage and it sets up so much faster. I’ve done boat carpet and upholstery for 18 years now, so just a few suggestions from the years of experience.

20 oz carpet doesn't have grain. It all looks the same.

@@TinyBoatNation all cut pile carpet has a grain to it, and will reflect light differently from different angles and can make it look like two different shade of the same color. I work with 22oz carpet everyday, believe me there is a grain to it.

It's funny how many people are surprised carpet has a grain. And that weld wood glue is the best!!! Ony glue that I know that is 100% waterproof. And holds like no other. Ony thing is I would hate to be the guy who changes the carpet down the road after using this stuff.

I recarpeted my son's old Astro bass boat last summer. It went pretty much as you did this one. I used the same Lowes outdoor carpet glue you used. I used some yard sticks I had laying around too. It's a job

I know the video is far from new, but this comment is important for those watching to learn how to carpet a boat. Always mark the uncut carpet on the back with a generous sprinkle of arrows pointed toward one end. As you carpet each section, make SURE you keep all the carpet pieces oriented in the same direction. If you don't, the odd pieces will appear to be a slightly different shade. It looks like he may have gotten one piece on the rear deck in the wrong direction.

Make sure your carpet is not too thick. You will have gluing problems specially when folding corners.. I used rubber back 20oz and it’s a mess on the edges and corners with all the lockers.
Not a glue fast enough or strong enough without hours of clamping.

Oh my God what a relief to hear someone else praising carpet!!!! I'm so tired of every new xpress owner saying it 10,000 times better than carpet in every way. ITS NOT!!!
First off it's too fuckin noisy in an aluminum without insulting the underside of the lids with foam rubber but that adds a shit ton of weight. Per gary clouse. We do not think the current foam is durable enough to use yet although we believe there are products coming to market soon that will be good enough for Phoenix boats.
    Rant over

Hey Michael how did you remove the the driver seat and passenger seat platform to get the screws out of my 1990 Ranger 364V. I took out the six 3” stainless steel bolts out three across the back behind the seats and the across the front toward the floor but it still want let go and it acts like there’s something across the back wall holding it. I don’t have the full bench seat just the two seats like tempress folding seats. They have to be removed to be able to get the slip skins on. I noticed that this boat your working on is similar to mine the the fiberglass platform lifts up off of the gas tanks. Are there any hooks that it has to lift off of. Let me know if you can help Thanks Wayne

Hi TBN! I'm working on a rebuild of a 1970s 14' aluminum seanymph. Im replacing the wood flooring and recarpeting the flooring and sidewalls of some bench seats im going to add. I was wondering if you suggest carpeting the panels before building, or building the floor, storage, and seats then carpeting over the wood structure? I can send pictures of the boat im working on if it clarifies. Thanks for all your vids, been following for a while now while tearing down and rebuilding my boat.

I just picked up some Lowes adhesive last week to redo my fiberglass boat. Do you find much difference between the 3M Super 77 and High Strength 90? Are there any concerns that those products will eat away at any of the substrates they came in contact with?
