Thanks, Rob...and getting the FGBC code reference was helpful. We just returned from an extended visit to Babcock Ranch and it's the 'real deal', for sure. To your knowledge, have any insurance carriers recognized the FGBC in the form of premium reductions?
Hi Jack, there are multiple carriers (Chubb, The Hartford, Travelers, etc. that offer some level of green building coverage) but to get a real answer you'd have to quote a Babcock Ranch home specifically against a comparably equipped non-Babcock Ranch/Fort Myers home to compare savings.
@@RobFreeman Thanks again, Rob. As it happens, I did get a quote from USAA for a specific home we've "ordered" - long wait time at the Ranch; very popular - and the rate was ~$1K/yr. Given what's been happening with home insurance in Florida these days, I was surprised they would even cover more FL properties, let alone offer such a low rate. But no awareness of FGBC at USAA that I've been able to find (so far). Maybe such awareness does exist and is simply reflected in the $1K quote.
