We sacrifice a LOT of things to modify and race our cars but we keep pushing on because this car life, is something we can NEVER walk away from. Without cars, what else is worth working towards and spending money on?
To put it in real life perspective the FC is built to be a sporty GT car with most of its development in its stock factoy setup focused on keeping the car as planted and yet controllable at all times. The FD was built to be an all out thoroughbred which was focused to be a rival of the Porsche 911 in terms of performanc and price. In wangan overall stability in high speed reigns supreme which is why cars like the R33 and FC are most prominent in the midnight club community in japan. So to feel drawn to this specific time attack FC is understandable since tsukuba is much of a power track despite its small and short size. The FD lacks poise and stability in high speed which is why in the manga he was supposed to give the current owner a reason why the FC is better than the FD
except that's all Manga BS because the FD IS better at high speed and all around verses a FD. Drive and compare in real life...NO comparison. Side note: I love FCs, but lets not forget, Manga and Anime are fantasy...as if a S30 would beat even a moderately tuned GT-R on the Wangan or anywhere else. Not gonna happen.

This is what i like about this anime, it is so down to earth, showing real life situations and issues, like that akio guy having more than 1 job to cover the expenses or the guy who is with his family now and has left racing in the past because it would be a luxury for him to afford.
Hiramoto-San, gave up his happiness and all of the money saved on a GT-R, plus parts to make it fast, his new born child really made him see that it’s not worth to race, it wasn’t worth beating The Devil Z and Blackbird. He had to let go of the past.
This guy was interesting aswell. Unlike the others, he did have a story in the past where they explained everything about him, which can make us understand this character more than any other

Man this hits hard, my mom had an ‘86 RX7, even though it wasn’t a turbo and it was an automatic we still loved this car and its beguiling rotary song. Unfortunately our family was growing and being a 2 seater wasn’t going to work so my dad traded it in for a ‘88 Maxima. I wept that night. Part of me still wants a turbo 5 speed FC even after all these years.
Then you’re a real car guy. Do whatever you have to to reclaim a piece of your youth. My motivations are different in what I want but I want it for the same reasons. It’s going to take some blood, sweat and misery but I’ve come too far and paid too high a price personally to give up now
I absolutely love my FC. I really don't ever want to part with it; I've owned mine for 15 years now. It's definitely one of the most precious possessions of mine.

Possibly that since Kijima is owning it he needs to change the plate since he is living in Tokyo and found the car in Gotenba. Remember Episode 1 when Akio got the Z since he was living in Yokohama, he still got the 53-681 plate.

Yeah after being a rip off of the 944 I'd say naw. Same with the FB which was styled after a Lotus. The only properly original RX7 would always be the FD.
Samuel Jones every generation of the RX-7 was absolutely stunning, although I do agree that the FC in particular clearly borrowed styling cues from the 944.
Borrowed ? Mazda clearly came out themselves and said it was "inspired" by the 944 and the FB as a rip off of the Lotus Elan, the only timeless thing about RX's are its power unit the Rotary, they really can't be timeless really if they are rip offs of an original design.
As a former owner of a 1991 convertible FC RX-7 (it was my first car clear back in 2013) the moment Kijima said "This is it, without a doubt! This is _my_ FC3S!" That hit me hard. I crashed mine on the way to work one day... Wasn't racing, but I was being stupid by driving 15mph over the speed limit, in the rain, on bald rear tires... What I wouldn't give to have another FC RX7, nevermind the prospect of getting _my_ FC back... That being said, I just bought a 2022 Corolla XSE hatchback with a 6 speed manual, and I'd be lying if I said that car wouldn't fit in with a series like this if they used new cars instead of the older cars. I tried to intentionally make that thing understeer 3 times already, and it just wouldn't do it. It just grabs the road like it's a train car on a train track, and that's with the all season tires it came with. If that car had some grippy performance tires, that thing would never lose traction around a corner.
every few yrs I go back and watch Initial D and Wangan Midnight. I gotta say I do really love Wangan Midnight the cars and the way the whole show really encapsulates the charcters feelings and emotions makes me smile while watching it. this scene is just soo damn good too.

Coming back to these wangan midnight series again recently. These presented the "petrolhead" feel more accurate or more pure than those fast and furious movies.
recently i marathoned fast and furious before watching X. dam, more sequel i realized those cars were more destructible series by series and the explosives were directed by michael bay
I feel that the Kijima arc in the anime is no where near as good as the Manga one. They just removed so much stuff in it. The guy who owned the ZERO FC wanted to see why Kijima chose an FC instead of an FD (Because the FD is generally a faster car), so to prove that the FC is better than an FD, Kijima and this guy named Oki who drove an FD went up against each other, and Kijima won (I can't remember how he won though). Oki was once a touge driver that made a switch to the Metro Highway which is also pretty cool.
I personally recommend the manga. In the anime, many scenes are cut and I have the image that the characters have little motivation to do what they do. However, the direction and expression of the anime is so great that I encourage you to watch both if you have the time. (I am replying using a translation site)

That fc reminds me of a 325 e36 my family used to own before I got my license. My father bought it all beaten up and sold it before he could fix it because of some debts. After 2 years he bought it back and restored it, sadly he sold it again because someone offered him an e46 m3 in exchange for the car. I really want that car back...
MrZTrevaz My father got lucky because the guy that gave him the car was a friend of his, but he also regrets that trade because of the attachment he had towards the e36. If you are attached to your car I would recommend you to stick to it, but if you are not, then there is no problem if you trade it.
In the manga , the FC don't have spoiler , it stay original style with the front bumper + Gemballa lights + BBS LM rims , the zero FC was similar to Ryosuke FC

I'll take that as a compliment. Just remember if you're used to Initial D...WM is not about racing tactics and has no touge racing or Eurobeat. It's about extensive tuning and high-speed battles. I like it just as much as Initial D even though you can't really compare the two.

A true car person will understand what he did and why he went to those lengths to find his old FC. I sold my nice car 2 years ago and while I’m happy it felt like a part of me is missing. One day I hope to either find my first love again or look for another one. Hopefully before I’m too old to enjoy it

I have the same feeling for 4th gen nissan maxima. I got my first nissan maxima but it was faulty and sold it, then I went to work offshore and came home and got myself another nissan maxima but I sold it during covid lock down. And this year April, I got myself my 3rd maxima. When you fall in love with a car, its like meeting an old friend, everytime driving the car it gives you a smile and a sense of satisfaction. Even driving or being fetch in another car totally felt different, never as good as a maxima. This video totally portrayed true motorheads' love for certain specific car

MrZTrevaz My father got lucky because the guy that gave him the car was a friend of his, but he also regrets that trade because of the attachment he had towards the e36. If you are attached to your car I would recommend you to stick to it, but if you are not, then there is no problem if you trade it.
In the manga , the FC don't have spoiler , it stay original style with the front bumper + Gemballa lights + BBS LM rims , the zero FC was similar to Ryosuke FC

I'll take that as a compliment. Just remember if you're used to Initial D...WM is not about racing tactics and has no touge racing or Eurobeat. It's about extensive tuning and high-speed battles. I like it just as much as Initial D even though you can't really compare the two.

A true car person will understand what he did and why he went to those lengths to find his old FC. I sold my nice car 2 years ago and while I’m happy it felt like a part of me is missing. I have the same feeling for 4th gen nissan maxima. I got my first nissan maxima but it was faulty and sold it, then I went to work offshore and came home and got myself another nissan maxima but I sold it during covid lock down. And this year April, I got myself my 3rd maxima. When you fall in love with a car, its like meeting an old friend, everytime driving the car it gives you a smile and a sense of satisfaction. Even driving or being fetch in another car totally felt different, never as good as a maxima.
