      Ah! Nice. Just goes to show what an *incredibly* consistent player the Fed's been since 2003. I don't believe that consistency will ever be matched. Here are a few numbers.
      Throughout his career, *which officially began in 1998* , he's reached *155 finals in the 352 tournaments* he's played. (I've excluded only the Olympics because, while valued, it's not an ATP event or a Grand Slam.) This means he's reached the finals in 44% of the tournaments he's played - a very impressive statistic.
      But I did a little more research (out of curiosity and, I'll admit, to confirm my bias towards the Fed) and checked the stats from 2003 onwards, the year he really began to redefine tennis by assembling his all-court attacking game and wonderfully resilient baseline defence. And look what I found!
      Since 2003, he's reached the finals of *146 of the 261* tournaments he's played in! That's a *56% strike rate* - which is *simply astonishing* . Looked at another way, and with the benefit of hindsight, what these numbers mean is that, if you were the betting kind - *betting on Federer reaching the final of any tournament he played in (whether with 8, 32, 48, 64, or 128 players) would have made you more money than trying to correctly guess the outcome of an unbiased coin toss!*
      If *_that_* doesn't make you marvel, I don't know what will.

      @jimnosnow4484 5 лет назад +2

      GHAZAN KHAN, Some people tend to think Novak and Rafa are better players than Roger due to the h2h’s but they are wrong. Realistically the odds are stacked against Roger the most in the big 3 because he is the oldest and his favourite surface (grass) only lasts for a month. Rafa has the advantage of his favourite surface lasting 3 and a half months. That is the only reason he leads the h2h with Roger. Roger leads the h2h with Rafa on hard court, grass court and indoors. But Roger is a victim of his own success. He was so good on clay that he was able to get to 12 clay finals from 2005-2010 where he lost 10-2 to the clay master. Roger doesn’t have a specific factor which helps him yet he’s still beaten Rafa 6/7 times they last played. Novak has by far the biggest advantage though because he is the youngest and only had to face injured Rafa on clay instead of prime Rafa (unlike Roger). So he really was expected to get ahead in the h2h’s, especially as he’s played them way more than they used to play him when they were in their prime. 29 matches against Roger since 2011 (Novak’s prime), compared to 19 matches before that (Rogers prime). 31 matches against Rafa since 2011, compared to 23 before that. And in that time period, Roger had the higher win percentage compared to prime Novak. So he really did just get good because Roger began to decline. I mean, he’s 32 (same age as Roger when he was still beating prime Djokovic) yet getting outplayed by a 38 year old
