My late Mother bought this 💎 in the early 70s and it was one of her favorites -over 50years later it still sounds great thanks for the post Auckland New Zealand 2023
My mother used to sing this when I was very young in Ireland. It's 6am here and I've just sat down on the balcony with a coffee now on the other side of the world, 45 years later and this song just popped into my head for the first time since then, so I've just looked it up.
Oh! We would jump along every time it played on the radio.Everybody doing their thing in the school yard during manual work buy the students. What a song of its time.Stlil love it in my 70s!!!!
Almost 5 decades ago when I was really young ... long car trips with my family ... and this song would come on the radio ... and my whole family would be singing along at the top of our voices in no time. Great memories ... thank you The Fortunes for a great song. 💖
This is one of those songs that you just can't help getting into. I'm glad many of us love songs like this. And others don't believe in feel good songs like this. They wouldn't know a great brilliant song if it hit them right in the face.
I used to hear this great song on the radio when I was a teen , loved it then still love now , after all these decades. Good stuff is timeless. I have grandkids who listen to the music of my generation and absolutely love it . They wont listen to todays pop music , they said they cant stand it . They surprised me actually . All I can is I think my grandkids have very good taste . Thank you for this video I thoroughly enjoyed it , and it was a beautiful trip down memory lane .
Picture a rainy Northern English Day back in the early 1970s being driven around cobbled streets in a blue ford transit with the family up to Appleby with a tarpaulin over us & this belting out of the radio .
I heard this song only once before in my life. The car radio was on and the DJ said that the song was by a new group called the Fortunes and that they were going to make a fortune. I've always remembered this pop song, thought I'd look it up on You Tube, and 47 years later I can hear it again. Thank you for making this available!
I was 11 and it reminds me of the start of my minibike days with my Deltek Rockhopper here in Sydney Australia. It was the first time i felt real 'freedom' thanks to my little powered mini! Start of my lifelong love of motorbikes too :-) Rich memories! Thanks you very much for the clip!
wONDERFUL story and tears bringing memories of your childhood! Please leave us some pictures from your Rockhopper with you - very cool - pictures with the young Brian!
I heard this cute tune , praps , in 1972? Lived in a village of Lithuania. Thought about freedom from the Empire of Evil .USSR . Am still alive ----and still am enjoying the song.
И жил,ты получше остальных, или прятался в горах,навряд ли,сейчас где нибудь в Дублине на рыбной фабрике ,на конвейере,а кто будет делать процветающей страну из Вымиратов?
Thanks for the invitation of your lovely expression about this loving song i just found myself just a few moments before thanks fortunes love you all. We welcome ourselves and rise once again 💖🙏 bye miss 💓 u
I somehow stumbled onto this song while watching a live performance of this song in a medley they were doing, and wow! I had totally forgot this song of my childhood! Holy cow! I was already of fan of these other Fortunes hits like “Here Comes that Rainy Day Feeling”, “You’ve got Your Troubles, “, “Here it Comes Again”, but I never made the connection with them to this song! Did somebody say this charted in 1971? If so , I was only 12 then but diggin’ the groove! Thank-you Rodney and friends!😅❤
Went to our local Rugby club disco early 1971 & one the lads passed a note to the DJ requesting this song to be played for Alfie explaining he was going on holidays. When the song came on we all looked to see how Alfie reacted ? because he was in court the following morning & was certain to get a prison sentence Hence the choice of song.
This was the record that brought the fortunes back into the charts after a five year absence great record I brought it why, wasn't here comes that rainy day feeling again a hit here I brought both
Colin now that is a very good question...cant answer it. I think from youtube info it was a great hit in the states but not here.....just cant think why
Freedome Come Freedome Go - what miss spellings? 'Freedom Come, Freedom Go' by The Fortunes, entering the Australian chart in late 1971 and would rise to the Top 15;....... Rogers Cook and Greenaway? Yes. They want more? I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing (In Perfect Harmony) "True Love and Apple Pie", by British hit songwriters Roger Cook and Roger Greenaway, and sung by Susan Shirley? Tell Glenn Youngkin, recently installed as Governor of Virginia - tell Youngkin on his so called snitch line - I stole that whole sale from Wikiwotisface. Coca Cola Pepsi Cola. Never touch the stuff but they want more? Pepsi?
Great songs great group of the 60s and 70s
I was only five when this came out, and I’ve not heard it for over 50 years, but somehow I remember all the words to this day.

I lost my Dad yesterday and this was his favorite song.
Did you check the Lost and Found at your local Walmart for your Pap? That's where I found mine, he didn't want to come home, so I left him there!

Someone once described the music of today as " ephemeral pop fodder " - love that turn of phrase. !
@@murraykitson1436 LOL ....I have to agree, and furthermore, I needed a good laugh. Thanks so much for your reply. Cheers.

I danced to this tune for the entire journey from Europe to Australia in 1971.
Back home too?
Super sweet story of you and your Deltek Rockhopper! Are you still a "biker"?

Flott. Macht Spaß.

That would be the Continent's version of Jimmy Saville at the end there.

Rubbish rich are not free plus they are daddy’s girl. They stay at home and don’t move out
This band had limited success because its music and presentation were extremely derivative.
