One thing about this game I love is the amount of things that have collision. Your gun may get stuck on everything and seem janky at first but it forces you to be aware of where your gun is when moving in confined spaces, just like real life. Clearing buildings with your long rifle might not always be the best option, sometimes it’s better to switch to your sidearm.

Nice, nice this is making me want to buy it. Got a G2 that's been collecting dust for ages. Last game I played was Alyx and that is also crazy good with its collisions. You can pick up just about anything in that game. You can grab a crate and throw a bunch of stuff in it including glass bottles then shake it around and watch it all collide. You can swing your gun at the bottles and smash them. You can pistol whip people and zombies in the face and watch their head get rocked in mad realistic fashion. I got a feeling this game won't be quite as good as Alyx but if it is then more power to it!

@@arcrides6841 do yourself a favor and get a quest 2 (only $200!), or better, get a Quest 3. G2 is trash compared to modern HMDs, plus, wireless is just so much better. Take this coming from someone that has played VR professionally, and with every VR kit money can buy.

I love GOT, but there is one thing i see so many people do that is a crappy idea: be heavily geared. I tend to run in with a backpack and pistol simply so if I die, its not a great loss. Where as if you take more valuable gear, you risk it all for more loot. And since you need a certain backpack to hold 2 rifles, it is safe to say that packing light would technically be better than bring in a larger item. But, you play how you wanna play. Also, I have yet to actually find water in the island, everyone takes it before me. The other players are mean. They take my weapons, don't show mercy, and kill you on sight.

You know it's crazy how VR has gone from very basic experiences and social games to things this complicated. Honestly wonder how long until a proper MMO type game like SWG (Star Wars Galaxies) comes out. Reason I pick that aside from nostalgia is that there was a stupid amount of things in it that you actually had to do instead of something in the background, and I'd expect the first real good VRMMO to be roughly better visually.

I think the best VR games I've ever seen and played since the beginning were actually Titles that were developed having no VR in Mind, yet Modders came in and Turned the wasteland of Native VR Games into an actual Mind Blowing Experience with their AAA Title Mod Releases. A lot are Full Head and Hand, and some are just Head tracking but neither have disappointed to say the least.
    - If your Handy with Reshade and Tuning its VR shader, You can play damn near any PC Title with crazy Depth. Playing Assassin's Creed Unity and Origins in VR=Gamepad was great.
    - Then there the UNREAL INJECTOR that will be a Tool to make it simple for modders to made any UE4 and UE5 title into a Full Head-Hand Tracks VR Title. There's So much comin and I think if it wasn't for Modders, VR would have unfortunately been Dead already for the time being.
-I still think the best VR titles into the Future will be AAA Titles that are converted for some extra sales, mainly because the fact the Market share of VR users is like 1% or so of Gamers and no Big Developer would entertain the idea of making Only a VR game (with very small exceptions). It will always be a game the make for Screen Users, and if they feel like adding some VR support they will. Just like they did with a Few a list Below. So many Mods been announced that are coming fairly soon as well. ELDEN RING being one of Im really hyped for. Also, Ready or Not has one coming.
    - As for Mil Sims or Really Immersive Shooters, All I can say is KEEP'EM COMING! This title looks like its needs a lot of work still but it looks on its way.
[My Favorite AAA Converted VR Titles]
    - RE2 and RE3 Remake, RE7, RE8,
    - Half-Life 2
    - GTFO
    - a lot more, my brain is just fried.
    [What I really Want]
    Full Head/Hand Tracked:
    - Ghost Recon Wildlands!
    - Outlast 1-2
    - Any FPS or Great 3RD person to First Person Conversion Period, All THE GAMES!
[Native AAA Titles that Devs Added VR to ]
    - Dirt Rally, Dirt Rally 2.0
    - Assetto Corsa, ACC
    - Flight Sims
    - Nearly Every Racing and Flight Sim I think think of
    - Skyrim and Fallout 4 [Heavily Modded for Immersion]
    - Again Im missing Alot

It’s unfortunate that the guns and more importantly, the sight pictures and how optics work, is really bad in this game.
Let me explain. I was in the military and even deployed a couple of times to Iraq. I trained extensively with weapon systems of all kinds. You kind of have to train hard to jump on a plane and ride in a seat and not come back on a plane in a box.
I also, in my civilian life, have many rifles, pistols, shotguns, etc with many different kinds of optics. I still go to the range and practice. So I know a lot about setting up my weapons to be as effective as possible.
I did a few practice raids in this game. The sight pictures and how optics and iron sights work were very alien to anything I’ve experienced outside of other VR games that did not get this at least somewhat realistically set up. It was like having to relearn a new skill. The sights seem small and far away. This makes eye relief painful.
I play other shooting games that “Give you no reason to care about them” that, when I raise my rifle as I have done and still do at the range IRL, give me a much closer sight picture to RL. It doesn’t look like my optic is a foot away from my eye.
Maybe the reason it’s done that way in this game is because having a sight picture closer to something IRL would give specific types of players a significant advantage over others. By making the sight picture so stilted, it puts everybody on the same playing field.
Realistic? That’s highly debatable. For most players, I would say that realistic is something they have absolutely zero context for. Most players I interact with have no military or police training, much less experience with real firearms in a situation like the military may provide you.
And for those who say they do have these credentials and still say the game is realistic? I have to doubt they really do have any experience.
Not saying this is a bad game. It’s really not bad. Just takes me relearning a skill I’d rather not have to relearn. I wish they’d fix it, but I don’t see them ever doing that. So I’m happy to go play Onward, as shallow as it is, because I can take the skills I learned in the military and put them to practical use in the game without making much adjustment to the fundamentals I learned. The long range scopes in that game suffer the same problem as GoT, but I rarely use them.
Edit: Just loaded up the game. Seems they made some adjustments, but it still feels a bit janky. The virtual gunstock would be much more useful to alleviate some of the problem if it could be calibrated. I have a very wide shoulder base and it seems like it snaps to my mid chest instead of my shoulder.

Honestly the game is a miss - the game feels off and floaty (annoying but forgivable),the controls are bad with bizarre and old choices and busy up areas of your body that shouldn’t be made any busier (absolutely awful, once you’ve played better you cannot go back), and the game is missing that ex USSR client state vibe that makes these style of games stand out - turns out Florida man doesn’t get what people who actually grew up in these places do. The large map feels like it’s from fortnight, the silo from Carl on Duty.
I really wanted to like it, the idea is great but the execution is fatally flawed.

There’s only around 500k pcvr players compared to the 10 million stand alone quest 2 users. It only makes sense to record on quest 2 because the vast majority don’t have and dont want the hassle of pcvr.
I for one appreciate a stand alone content creator who doesn’t get my hopes up for a game just to say “pcvr only” mid vid

The last time I played this game it was absolutely riddled with game breaking bugs and the gun play was absolutely terrible. Maybe it’s improved a lot since the but there was nothing “real” about it when I played it. Also, it doesn’t look better on pc VR.

Are there any FPS VR that are good single player? I can't get good enough internet here in winter to play PvP sadly. Are there other good options for PCVR w/Quest 3?

one thing I don't really like about it is that there are no dynamic interactions, 99% of people are either assholes or completely focused on their own survival and kill everyone on sight, of course maybe that's just realistic.

This game seems really cool but I feel like reviewers should start incorporating a time commitment category for talking about games, seems like a game where you get out what you put in and as someone who doesn't have a whole lot of time for gaming, I appreciate jump in jump out type stuff. Correct if im wrong about this game tho I haven't played it

Ghost of Tabor is not a game is an Experience that is not for the cowardly i mean you are in a apocalyptic world where you're fighting to to live for another day so yeah 10/10 i would never play a zombie fps that is not as realistic as THIS

Ooooo I think I’ll buy this I’ve enjoyed Tarkov and Vigor in the past, I like that feeling of finding loot and having to escape with it and knowing you ruined it for someone else on occasion 😂 Will be a treat in VR.

  • @d3tach3d

of course Escape from Tarkov in VR if copied and suited it would make the experience magnitudes better. I feel like the Devs used Tarkov as their primary source for copy/pasting its mechanics and obviously tweaking some things to feel and work right for VR which is what I feel is the only thing on paper that sets the "Gameplay Loop". Don't get me wrong though, I love this game exists and i wish more did. I just find it weird when certain people try to portray games that are clearly clones of others. Ironically alot of these types are the players who do this and not the Devs. Its like the theres a defense mechanism or some sort of guilt/shame not wanting to admit "it is what it is", and I find it cringe, dishonest, and pathetic. I might run in weird gaming circle but In my experience, I come across a lot more people who do that shit than I would have ever imagined and it gives me this jaded and sorry state or mindset about where the fuck peoples heads are at these and it worries me. Its like some of these people have zero grasp or assurance on their own personal identity. Like some amorphous being with ever an changing personality that changes from needing self assurance, exercising power in chance they get, act insecure, etc). All depending on the ebbs and flows from whatever online bubble/community they're in.Then I remember IRL friends and people arent terminally online people and a bit of my faith in humanity is restored, haha.

I tried this game ages ago but the polish was awful. usually i look past these things in favor of gameplay but the game had a lot of glitches and problems ontop of it so i refunded the game. i might pick it up again. i love the concept, i just wish it worked a little better. i could care less about graphics but qol could be better.
just bought the game again. it is so much better than it used to be. i unload all of my guns when i get back to my safe house out of habit. good gun safety and whatnot

they did a horrible job with controls in this game. The fact that grab backpack is the same to grab an item makes for some really horrible times trying to store/remove stuff. I love the realism of my hands getting stuck on the otherwise of the door, too.
