If I remember correctly Raul Julia was sick and essentially dying in this movie but his kids loved street fighter so he pushed through for them to be able to see their dad in street fighter he died the same year this movie came out he is and will be remembered for his many amazing roles and being a badass dad pushing through for his kids
That's actually kinda beautiful, honestly. Seemed like he really showed up & gave it his all. And despite how silly the movie comes across, I can't pretend like he's not helping to elevate the material. He is to this movie what Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa is to Mortal Kombat.
I think this was Raulia Julia’s last movie before he died as he wanted his kids to have something to remember him by as they loved street fighter It would explain his stellar performance
Everybody talks about how extra he goes, but what really sets his performance apart for me is how he found a center for the character, and all his lines seem to be coming from one solid core of who the character is. He treated it like a legit role and THEN he went all out with the actual delivery.
Yeah apparently he made this for his kids because they were huge fans of the games, and he put in a LOT of work researching dictators and crime lords like Mussolini, Pablo Escobar, Stalin, Hitler etc and then incorporated a lot of their mannerisms into Bison. Then he Shakespeared the CRAP out of the role.
That and Dee Jay and Bison's conversation that goes "That's great news, General, congratulations!" "ON THE CONTRARY, I MOURN" "Oh. Okay." are my favourite moments lmao
Fun fact, the end freeze frame is the classic winner pose for all their respective characters in the game. Masterful touch i must say for a movie that is largely dismissed as a video game movie, but given its based on SF 2 its pretty on point
"For I beheld Satan as he fell from Heaven...LIKE...LIGHTNIIIIIING" is a line that did not need to exist, let alone be delivered so hard, but it lives rent free in my mind nonetheless.

Raul Julia poured his heart and soul into M. Bison's persona. Truly he must have played the game and read everything about him. He was so amazing and such an egomaniac.

As a gamer, this is one of the greatest movies I've ever seen since childhood!!!! And Jean-Claude Van Damme, I absolutely feel like he was perfect for the role of Guile, a top favorite Street Fighter character of mine!!!!
villains can have fun being the villain and doing evil things but the greatest villains don't think themselves the villain, they believe themselves the hero, only wanting to make everything better, and naturally they know what's best, so it's ok for them to do whatever they want, it's needed to make the world better

A fellow Oklahoman is in this movie in the great Wes Studi, also the guy who was the prime minister to the Maharaja of Pankot in Temple of Doom is in this
as for the big fight, Jean-Claude Van Damme is a martial artist in 6 arts. Raul Julia is not a martial artist, not a fighter, so they are a little limited on fight scenes if they wanted to see his own face as much as possible. kinda like star wars. the Luke films there wasn't a lot of fighting, but in the Anakin movies and the Rey movies they're flipping around. Raul however was still great.
Cant tell you how much i love this movie. Just a proper 80/90's action movie. Stupid and fun. If you havent seen it id also recommend Street Fighter Assassins fist completely different but still great and faithful to street fighter

Fun fact Byron Mann (the guy who plays Ryu) didn't hear of a knife fight, so he asked for a Thai guy to train him on the spot. So he did the scene as planned in the movie

Guys, you have to watch Street Fighter Assassin's Fist! It's about Ryu, Ken and the birth of Akuma and it is epic!!
The one I remember the most was Cammie, because Kylie Minogue was my crush back then.
It's cool to see Aaron back on the channel recently 🙌
A fellow Oklahoman is in this movie in the great Wes Studi, also the guy who was the prime minister to the Maharaja of Pankot in Temple of Doom is in this
as for the big fight, Jean-Claude Van Damme is a martial artist in 6 arts. Raul Julia is not a martial artist, not a fighter, so they are a little limited on fight scenes if they wanted to see his own face as much as possible. kinda like star wars. the Luke films there wasn't a lot of fighting, but in the Anakin movies and the Rey movies they're flipping around. Raul however was still great.
I remember an arcade game came out from the film in London, it gone within a month! 😂
Cant tell you how much i love this movie. Just a proper 80/90's action movie. Stupid and fun.
If you havent seen it id also recommend Street Fighter Assassins fist completely different but still great and faithful to street fighter
GO WATCH TALK TO ME THAT HORROR FILM BY THE GUY CHOOSE TO DIRECT A PROPER NEW STREET FIGHTER FILM
RackaRacka they also have they owned RUclips CHANNEL!
plus TIMECOP IS WELL MORE BETTER THEN THIS CRAP!
Fun fact Byron Mann (the guy who plays Ryu) didn't hear of a knife fight, so he asked for a Thai guy to train him on the spot. So he did the scene as planned in the movie
Raul j was extremely sick during this movie they gave him time to get stronger and shot his scenes last he also only got in this movie because of his kids he didn't know anything about street fighter
Wow, this is on the same level as Smokin Aces. In that there has only been one video of someone reacting to this.
On that, speaking of Smokin' Aces...
Thnx for this cool video pals.Van damme got his voice dubbed in most of his films due to his Belgian and French accent
