If I remember correctly Raul Julia was sick and essentially dying in this movie but his kids loved street fighter so he pushed through for them to be able to see their dad in street fighter he died the same year this movie came out he is and will be remembered for his many amazing roles and being a badass dad pushing through for his kids

That's actually kinda beautiful, honestly. Seemed like he really showed up & gave it his all. And despite how silly the movie comes across, I can't pretend like he's not helping to elevate the material. He is to this movie what Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa is to Mortal Kombat.

Everybody talks about how extra he goes, but what really sets his performance apart for me is how he found a center for the character, and all his lines seem to be coming from one solid core of who the character is. He treated it like a legit role and THEN he went all out with the actual delivery.

Yeah apparently he made this for his kids because they were huge fans of the games, and he put in a LOT of work researching dictators and crime lords like Mussolini, Pablo Escobar, Stalin, Hitler etc and then incorporated a lot of their mannerisms into Bison. Then he Shakespeared the CRAP out of the role.

I would have loved a sequel to this. It was one of my favourite films growing up. Yeh its goofy as hell but compared to most video game adaptations that would come out the wood work down the line, this was one of the more fun ones. And goddamn, you gotta give props to Raul Julia. He was amazing in this. Ironically enough, I feel like his character here inspired RE5s Albert Wesker somewhat. The dude got nominated for christ sake for either the academy or golden globes for his role in this. He's hands down the best actor giving the best performance despite the dodgy material. And finding out Agent May was Chun-Li in this years after blew my mind. This fillm is great. I don't care what anyone says. Its a classic and always brought a smile to my face when watching it. But also saddens me that this was Gomez Adams' last performance. Nevertheless, still fun. IN OTHER NEWS...RackaRacka Brothers will supposedly be directing the next live action reboot supposedly. Now that's insane and ironic since they did a parody of SF once.

And Raul Julia, his first iconic role to me will always be Gomez Addams, but I cannot see anyone else play as M. Bison either! As cheesy as this movie is, I think they found the best actors to play these characters and to come up with a story to pack all the characters in one big movie was a miracle in itself! The only thing I was really disappointed in was the lack of street fighting! We could have used more street fighting in the movie but they always build up to it only to give us more story than of more street fighting action. I would love those who made the 2021 Mortal Kombat movie remake/reboot this movie even though this 1994 version will be forever a part of my childhood!

As a gamer, this is one of the greatest movies I've ever seen since childhood!!!! And Jean-Claude Van Damme, I absolutely feel like he was perfect for the role of Guile, a top favorite Street Fighter character of mine!!!!

villains can have fun being the villain and doing evil things but the greatest villains don't think themselves the villain, they believe themselves the hero, only wanting to make everything better, and naturally they know what's best, so it's ok for them to do whatever they want, it's needed to make the world better

And Bison is one of the only villains that I actually believe truly thinks that. alot of time its more of, yeah i'm a jerk, but its for a good reason. But Bison actually thinks he's the hero.

I was always more of a Mortal Kombat guy, but I appreciate this movie for what it was.
These video game movies were few and far between when I was a kid, so I just ate up whatever they were willing to give me at the time.
Guile was always my favorite Street Fighter character, and funny enough, Jean Claude Van Damme was the first actor I really recognized as a huge star.
To see him play my favorite character was mind-blowing.
    🤯
Sad to think that this one never got a sequel, especially after watching this and only now realizing that there was a post credits scene setting up said potential sequel.

You should check Street Fighter Assassin's Fist movie 🎥 it was an independent fan-made movie and not Hollywood made.. but in terms of production and authencity with the Street Fighter characters and storyline, it's WAY BETTER than this one.... Trust me.... You should check it out 😊

This is my favorite guilty pleasure movie. Zangeif is my favorite in this movie. Quick, change the channel is my fav line. It's so much fun how off the wall and some of the poor line delivery is. What would have been super funny is if Bisons account had like 5.00 in it as like the initial deposit needed to open an account

as for the big fight, Jean-Claude Van Damme is a martial artist in 6 arts. Raul Julia is not a martial artist, not a fighter, so they are a little limited on fight scenes if they wanted to see his own face as much as possible. kinda like star wars. the Luke films there wasn't a lot of fighting, but in the Anakin movies and the Rey movies they're flipping around. Raul however was still great.
