Amazingly, mine is not an isolated incident. When I first got these ( new, from one of the world's largest music gear retailers, NOT Sweetwater), I didn't even think to check for delamination. I mean, they were NEW! I read about a fellow member of a drum forum saying he had Centennials with a major delamination, so I checked mine, and same thing with mine. EVERY DRUM was delaminated. I got no help from anyone. I'm over it. Pretty amazing that neither MF nor Ludwig would give me the time of day. I was a "vip" customer at MF. What a joke. Thanks for commenting. 👍
Dude, I was about to buying me some of this next week, I have been sketchy abt them , cuz I found lots of them for resale on ebay, And I was wondering why, thanks a lot my friend!!!
You're welcome!! DO NOT buy them unless you can personally check them, ALL of them, both ends. All 5 of mine were delaminated, and the 18 came separately. It was slightly darker, but it was delaminated also! Be VERY careful!
I was sick to my stomach. I think it was a 90 day thing. I assumed since it was new, it was perfect. That's on me. I won't be buying Ludwig again, which is a shame, because I like them, especially the exotics, but I just can't. Thanks for watching...
This is the third case of this problem I've heard already, my friend is still trying to get through their circle of passing the buck. I played Ludwig till the early 90's then switched to Yamaha in '93 and never looked back.
I suspect this is a common problem with Centennials. I’ve played numerous Yamahas over the years, and I agree- good stuff. Good luck to your friend though, I got nowhere. Thanks for commenting.
I'm not as surprised by the laminate issue (shit happens sometimes) as I am surprised how Ludwig not support all of its customers. I am a Tama fan but I respected Ludwig.
I've been in the auto repair business my whole life, and customer satisfaction is paramount. I blew it for not catching the problem. MF blew it for giving a VIP customer ( that's what they called me) a 20 dollar gift certificate. Ludwig blew it by turning their back on me. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Bought my red sparkle centennial used with set of hard cases for $1200 last year. I don't like the sound or the feel. I've learned quickly they are not my size way too big for my style of play. I haven't checked for lamination issues but people these are cheap budget drums and maybe the sound is not affected by lamination issues. No surprise either way.
That's a defect in the manufacturing process I would have served the secretary of the state to file long arm statues so you can take it to your local state civil court, I bet yeah the judge knows that drum set is a manufacture defected music instrument, that should last years fight man fight bring there asses to court!
I appreciate your fervor! Unfortunately I’m a drummer, not a fighter, and with a family to feed and a big phatt… mortgage, all I could do was communicate directly with supplier and manufacturer. Since neither were willing to help, I’ll just tell my story, and never do business with either of them again. I may be nobody, but I had money to spend…
Ludwig seriously needs to make this right. Come on ludwig do the right thing.

I emailed Ludwig about my snare lugs being badly threaded and zero response…plenty of other companies to spend your money at.
They won’t be getting any more of my money, safe to say, nor will Musicians Friend. Sorry to hear your experience was not good either. 👎
thats pretty shitty on ludwig for not making the situation right.

Buy a pearl or tama, you'll never have this issue
Shame on ludwig for allowing that to leave the factory😊
Yep, or an American made Ludwig, which ain't gonna happen. I really did like Ludwig.

Was it Thomann or GC?
MF.

Dont buy any Ludwig drums made in Asia. I only use USA Ludwigs.
Yup.
Totally

They are beautiful, but yeah, they are not high quality. I eventually got mine to sound good, but it literally took years. Thanks for commenting. 👍
Maybe the DeLam sound will be highly coveted soon. 🤓
Yeah, I can here it now: "they sound busy. I mean, Buzzy."

File claim with credit card company
That is what I should have done. Realistically, I think too much time elapsed between purchase, and "discovery ".
