I may be a real weirdo, but I really appreciate the little vignettes of your "chores." It just makes it more real and I seem to enjoy that much better. I love all the places you have been and want to go and see and taste! Thank you!
No it’s not weird. We enjoy seeing that in others videos also. Sometimes we just don’t think that stuff will be entertaining because it’s the same thing everyone else has to do we just do it in a different place every time. We are trying to incorporate a bit more of that stuff though. Thanks for watching!
Pie? Yes!!!! We have to watch your videos after eating otherwise we will go make bad food choices due to all the deliciousness going on in these videos! I love all the history you give us on the areas you are visiting! Love the music you use too! Just fantastic and fun as always, although the ladder place was a little scary to me, I was starting to feel my heart racing when Catherine was getting extra tips from Adam on how to get off the ladder!!! Looking forward to more! Be safe!
Good call on eating beforehand! 🙌🏼 And thank you for all of the kind words on the videos! That specific ladder was so steep and a bit scary, especially without an easy landing at the top’
That pie looked AWESOMELY delicious…love apple pie a la mode! The sculptures were so cool and seeing you and Adam running from one made me laugh. When you were sitting at the table with the flowers, it reminded me of a date on the Bachelor! 😂 Those ladders looked a bit intimidating…great job climbing up and down them! I loved seeing my Konie girl too. Great job once again!
Holy Schnike’s! This was such a great episode. Canyon hike, intense! I could feel the nervousness driving on the sand too, congrats on not getting stuck…gut wrenching! Y’all’s cinematography skills in Galleta Meadows were bad ass. Kona with that hellhound creature was awesome! Yeah, Salton Sea seems a lot like Marfa. Can’t wait for Joshua Tree. 🏜🚐🤙🏽
I was in Joshua Tree just last month. Ryan Mountain is quite a workout, but totally worth it! This was one of the last stops on my clockwise loop trip (mostly via train) that started and ended in Northern California. Happy and safe travels!
Almost ten years ago, we spent our 30th anniversary in Julian. Back then, they also had some really good hard ciders, and some scenic geocaches. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. - GB
Hi guys! First of all big thank you to for sharing your adventures with the community, they are awesome! These last three videos really resonated with us as San Diego has been our home for 40 years. So glad you all had a blast while in town! It reminded us that we need to visit Julian again soon for pie and ice cream, ha. Thanks again for all your videos and for celebrating San Diego and all the other amazing places around the nation. Safe travels you guys! Looking forward to seeing the rest of your trip to Alaska. Have fun in Joshua Tree!
The Galleta Meadows sculptures were SO cool, my favourite was the dinosaur by far, but I think it's thanks to you guys doing the slow mo running from it - classic! Ladder Canyon was amazing. I've never been there before, but it gave me plenty of nostalgia for other hikes through canyons. I never got the In n Out burger hype, but unlike you both, it never grew on me. Do they still only offer beef burgers and their version of veggie is just salad in a bun? The dates milkshakes looked amazing. I adore dates, and can see why you think there might be a bit of a caramel taste as I think dates are really caramel-y.😋 I never knew dates were so expensive to farm, but given the costs of them in supermarkets, it makes a lot of sense. A real shame you had to cut some things out of this trip - curious to know if any of it was Palm Springs (I'm a sucker for mid century modern, so would love to see you guys take us on a tour round there!) but I'm very much looking forward to your Joshua Tree video next!
Funny enough, we thought it was a dinosaur, but it was a sloth lol! A Harland's Ground Sloth, which is much larger than a regular slot haha. You would really love Ladder Canyon...it was a ton of fun! I don't think they have a veggie burger there, but we could be wrong! We aren't a huge fan of their fries, but unlike some burger spots, they get the cheese nice and gooey on a lettuce wrap, which isn't something that all places do. Unfortunately we had to cut an entire Palm Springs video to prioritize Death Valley instead, but to be honest, we would rather go back without the van when we could experience it like a true tourist without Kona.
That was a fun road trip! We went by the Salton Sea 40 years ago, and I remember it as being a nice place. Didn't realize how much it has changed. Ladder Canyon looks like a lot of fun. The new lens will be awesome for all of that wildlife on the way, and in, Alaska!!
“Apple Pie Breakfast of Champions” Katherine quote of my day oh I can’t wait to travel to California. I have never been there. I had to pause the video 3 minutes in as you guys described what’s on your plate I literally have to get some tonight as a dessert. Safe travels 😃
ok those random sculptures out in the desert were awesome, never heard of this before, and my favorite was the jeep climbing up the rocks at 6:17 in the video, very creative, thank you for sharing this with the world, again I had no idea this existed.
Hahaha you two running from the dinosaur 🤣😂 And Adam’s reaction to the apple pie 😂 Kathryn, serious shout out for braving those ladders!! Y’ALL. A chocolate orange date shake is THE best thing I’ve ever consumed. We will definitely have to check out Shields.
I used to visit my parents every winter at their motorhome park in Hemet, CA and would travel the area. I wish I knew about Ladder Canyon then - so cool! Looking forward to your Joshua Tree and (I presume?) Death Valley escapades.
Hello Adventurers😊😊😊, MAN...those sculptures were absolutely AMAZING! The serpent was SUPER long! Ladder Canyon was really cool. I can see Kathryn, that you were having some issues climbing some of those latter's but y'all got through it. I'm really looking forward to the Joshua Tree video. Great video👍👍👍👍👍👍.
Super quality videos. Landscape was much different than I imagined. The pie looked mouth watering with the ice cream, my personal downfall.!! Your adventures sure let's us escape world problems. Kona looks to be enjoying life with desert sculptures. 👍👍🐕🙋♂️
Yesss! This is where I live and grew up right in Joshua tree. It makes me so happy that you guys got to explore the area. Hopefully the wind wasn’t too bad for you guys!! Safe travels 😊
Hi Adam and Katherine! I’m having so much fun going along on part of your travel adventures. The Galleta Meadows Sculptures were so cool!! You two had so much fun there. The hike looked so tiring but you both made it, specially having to climb on those ladders! 😲 And about the apple pie 🥧 looked so delicious and I like how you described it, Katherine…”breakfast of champions!” Very well description. Thank you so much for sharing a little of your adventures with us. Safe travels to you both. 😊🥰🚐🏔🏜🏞🌅
I really appreciate you sharing your honest thoughts on the Salton Sea. My friends and I thought about tent camping there once but we decided on Anza Borrego instead where it was so windy the bathhouse shingles were flying off the roof! It was all we could do the next day to pack up and head to Julian for coffee and pie! This video brought back so many memories of my past life of living in and exploring San Diego and beyond. Thank you!
Hello Adam & Kathryn! Remember me, Trudy, from Death Valley (3 x - LOL). So glad to cross paths with you at Death Valley. It looks like I just missed you at Joshua Tree as I was there in January. Thanks for all your inspiration. I love Alaska so will be grateful for all your vicarious content to come this summer in Alaska. Hope to cross paths with you again. Safe Travels!
It was so awesome to run into you three times Trudy! We kept wondering if we’d run into you again after Mosaic Canyon haha! We hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Death Valley 😃
Such a fun video! I really appreciate that y'all are rule followers and the safety advice you give. What a neat place! I really want a date milkshake now!
We officially have lens envy! What a fabulous break from the world right now! It wouldn’t be a nail biting hike without you guys! Love the video! ~Cara 😊
Holy Cow….we are staying in Borrego Springs for the winter and just got back from tent camping in Joshua Tree! Yesterday we were at Split Rock in Joshua Tree and through we saw you van! It wasn’t a sprinter…it was a RAM. Too funny. Happy Travels, maybe we will cross paths at some point! The SilverVagabonds…
@@AdventuresofAplusK BTW, I have the G Master 100-400mm….it is a great lens….only issue, it is so heavy. We can take pictures hand-held, but no way can you take video without a tripod!
There is noting better than apple pie ala mode. I'm very jealous. And it is a very acceptable breakfast!!! All the sculptures were cool, haven't heard of that before. Also liked the serpent! The ladders canyon hike liked really cool! Fun! The ladder that Kathryn said was really scary, didn't look bad on camera at all. Interesting. That's a big honking lens! I've had a 400mm... they're awesome!
The camera can sometimes make things look scarier or less scary, but it was pretty tall and almost vertical and since they aren’t attached and wobble, it’s a bit scary to think it may fall over. Adam was a bit scared too, but of course everyone's idea of what is scary is different!
@@AdventuresofAplusK Just to clarify, I wasn't being critical or saying it wasn't scary... I have no doubt it was... just that the camera perspective didn't convey that very well. I've been on similar climbs and they definitely can be a bit scary, particularly if the ladder isn't attached!
Loved this episode. It brought back great memories of my own visit to the Galleta sculptures. They are remarkable! I didn't stop at the Salton Sea but it looks like so much fun. Next time I'm in the area I'm definitely going there.
That ladder hike was so cool! I remember you saying that you wanted to stay in a fire tower. We will soon be staying in the mestaa’ehe mountain fire lookout near Denver! If you want to book that one you have to be fast on the site at 8am to book it 6months in advance or be lucky like us and grab someone’s cancellation!
The sculptures at Borrego springs are so much fun. I saw them a few years ago with friends. My favorite was the sea monster/dragon. Or sand monster if you prefer.
Always always stick around for your sick dance moves at the end! The universe is telling Paisley she needs to get a milk shake… apparently she’s never had one and we have been talking about it and then 💥 it was on your vlog 🤣
I finally watched the 2nd half of this video. I had to pause and walk away when you were on the ladder. I'll skip that, but thanks for showing me where I want to go, and what I don't want to do.
Wow, that was a challenging hike 😳 The scenery was beautiful though. I am so glad you skipped the ropes !! Lol You guys made me want to try a date shake. It looked rich and delicious .❤😋❤
Hahaha our favorite part of the video! We thought it was a dinosaur, but it turns out it's a Harlan's Ground Sloth, so we felt dumb running from a slot, but then we googled it and saw what it looked like!
We place our orders in October of 25 pies to have them ready by Thanksgiving...Plus your cruzzing in my back yard of the Coachella! Great to have you enjoy our HOT place enjoy an now gonna go get a pie this weekend! You guys made our valley look good keep up the hard work enjoying it! Im surprised you did get the rain, its been raining lately!
Another great video! I’ve prowled around Anza Borrego for years and love both the photography and the offbeat desert dwellers. Unless it has rained recently, you can get most places in an AWD vehicle. Best to check with the park visitors center though.
Solid little road trip vid!!! Hikes with unique features are the best. And you can't not get In-And-Out Right??? That was my first stop the last 2 times I was in Arizona in the last couple months and I'm not ashamed...especially after I discovered you can order the fries Extra Crispy!!! Game changer. Curious to see your thoughts on Joshua Tree...I loved it there. Oh I almost forgot!...THAT PIE...my goodness. That is my all time favorite flavor...starring that for a visit someday for sure.
Our friends told us about the extra crispy trick and we totally forgot to do it! 😩 Good thing we are in California for another month haha, we will have to try it!
We don’t loooove their fries, so we are curious if they will be better extra crispy! (I mean we still eat them lol, but not our favorite fries). I’m not a fan of the special spread, so we haven’t tried animal fries.
California is like a small country. So much to do. Closest we’ve been to Salton is seeing it from Keys View in Joshua Tree lol. Oh - eat apple pie with melted cheddar. Trust us. Or eat grilled cheese with apple pie jam. Trust us. 😉
You enjoyed Shield's, I recommend checking out Hadley's market in Cabazon. Also if you folks get back to the Yucca valley area the Integratron is really cool and the live music at Pappy and Harriet's is awesome.
Missed a few things but that's ok. Next time. I've done Ladders. Been a few years. Interesting hike. Yes that wind can be horrible. I drove a big rig thru there once when it was super windy. I thought I was going to get blown over. I like date shakes. I haven’t had theirs, but I’ve been to Shields.
another way you can get to Joshua Tree National Park from Ladder Canyon is to take Box Canyon Road as soon as you come out of the road to Ladder Canyon you go left on Box Canyon Road instead going right to Mecca. Lots of wildflowers in Box Canyon if it is a good rain year. You go north on Box Canyon and it will take you right to the south entrance of Joshua Tree National Park. There is some free BLM camping area right at the entrance. Or you can go into the National Park to Cottonwood campground, great campground if you have an RV or larger vehicle, bathrooms and water available in the campground. Only downside here is no shade. From there you can drive north thru Pinto Basin, Tirkey Flats San Dunes and Cholla Cactus Gardens then go north thru the park and then exit at either the north entrance in Joshua Tree town or exit in Twentynine Palms. South entrance always less crowded than North entrance, while the south part of the park does not have Joshua Trees it has some other interesting features.
What a fun trip on this video. You guys are so adventurous! I can't imagine climbing those ladders with those backpacks! Some of those rocks were so close I don't think I would be able to get my hips through there! lol The sculptures were amazing. Not a fan of the In and Out Burger. We got our first one in Yuba City, CA last May and I was so excited! Not sure what all the hype is about. Just a plain old burger to me! : (
The backpacks made it tough at times, especially squeezing through tighter spots! We like super basic burgers, so maybe that is why we like it! It's definitely not the world's best burger, but for an affordable, quick burger we always enjoy it!
Another great video. Thank you. Also you mentioned that you visited Kanab and would like to know which vlog I can find that visit. I have been to Kanab and absolutely loved it and would like to go back. Once again thanks for the videos, keep them coming. Cheers from Australia.
Next time you are in Julian try the Caramel apple pecan pie at Apple Alley Bakery (best I’ve had in Julian) and then go to Kwaymii Point. It’s about 10-15 minutes from Julian and is part of the Pacific Coast Trail. You are on top of the mountain overlooking the desert below. It’s amazing!
I get the whole Planet Fitness shower thing. I worked at one for 3 years and we had a lot of members who were truckers and would have Black Card memberships just so they could shower at any Planet Fitness in the country.
I have been to Ju;lian, De Anza Springs Park, Salton Sea on both sides of the sea. Lived in a little town of Westmorland and sampled the date shakes in Indio at Valerie Jeans. Date palms grow rapidly all over So Cal and into Az. A place to visit is Dateland, Az.
Yea, i don't know about them slot canyons, especially when they start off with huge boulders that you have to climb over. Not in earthquake country. Yikes! or hiking up top and a big rain comes along and washes the ladders away. Double Yikes! :-) Ironic, i was watching y'all on my phone at In and Out Burgers. My favorite Dbl. stuffed are there. Yee-Haa!! You'll love Joshua tree. Be safe and Peace.
Definitely not smart to go when it may rain! Hiking in the boulders is slightly nerve wracking, but also too much fun to miss out on. How funny you watched at an In-N-Out!
Seattle Washington lived there while stationed at ft Lewis Washington hopefully that's one place you two share and just go on top of the space needle before heading to Alaska .
We actually lived there for 3 years right before we moved into the van! We have some videos from there from when we first started our channel. We likely won’t be filming much when we make it there this time so we can enjoy it off camera.
I first heard about Bombay Beach from a different RUclips channel that was counting down the top 10 worst places in the US. The guy on the video ranked it as the worst place and you guys touched on a couple of the reasons that he listed as well. But in true A+K fashion, you highlighted some of the fun, and artsy spots. If anyone would like to see what the other video had to say about Bombay Beach, here is the link --- ruclips.net/video/aG0nqRXLDOg/видео.html. I'm also not too fond of ladders, especially when they're not secured to anything. I absolutely hate getting on my roof because I know the worst part is having to use the ladder to come down. I'm a lot like Katheryn in that regard. Glad to see you guys didn't get the van stuck in the sand and had a great hike through the slot canyons.
Oh wow! We can think of other places we have been that are worse 😂 It’s definitely a place you need to know what to expect beforehand, but it was really interesting! Getting on the roof sounds terrifying! We are thankful that for our van roof we have a bolted on ladder. Unsecured ladders are risky!
I'm sure being from Texas you guys have probably been to Louisiana a few times. Except for the Northern part the rest of the state is below sea level. That's why we have such a bad problem with flooding especially down around Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
I did tell Adam that, but then we googled it and got conflicting answers on the elevation. So we shall modify it to say “this far below sea level!” But we go even further down soon!

Great vid; nice scenery at Joshua tree park; have fun and take care
Thanks Charles!
Great video! Looked like a ton of fun. Almost to 100k, yay!
Woo!!! 🙌🏼
Thanks again y'all. So cool. You so kick butt. Much love
❤️
Wonderful trip, guys.
Very interesting and unique, thank you for sharing.
Loved this episode. It brought back great memories of my own visit to the Galleta sculptures. They are remarkable! I didn't stop at the Salton Sea but it looks like so much fun. Next time I'm in the area I'm definitely going there.
It’s a really interesting area! The art installations were a lot of fun to check out.
Ahhh congrats! That is going to be awesome! We hear they are SO hard to get. Maybe we will make that a goal for next year 🤞🏼
Very cool! Apple pie Ala mode for breakfast? 🤣 that’s awesome! Keep them videos coming! 🤙🏼
It’s fruit so it’s healthy right?! 😜
@@AdventuresofAplusK definitely!! 😝🤣
@@AdventuresofAplusK don’t forget dairy too! 🤣
You two are the coolest, great job!
❤️❤️
Love all of your videos. Very informative!
Thanks, Nina! And thanks for watching!
The sculptures at Borrego springs are so much fun. I saw them a few years ago with friends. My favorite was the sea monster/dragon. Or sand monster if you prefer.
That one was super cool! They are all really fun to check out!
Hi!Guys, I Love Your Videos. You Two have such great positive energy and uplifting spirit. Keep up great Work! Next Video ➡ 🙏
Thank you so much for the kind words!
Always always stick around for your sick dance moves at the end! The universe is telling Paisley she needs to get a milk shake… apparently she’s never had one and we have been talking about it and then 💥 it was on your vlog 🤣
Paisley has never had a milkshake?! We found y’all’s Sunday afternoon activity!
I hope you add Placerville to your list when your stroll via Tahoe - who knows, you may be there now... Great history, peaches, gold and fooood...👀
We won’t be making it to Tahoe this time, but we do love it there and would like to go back!
dam that pie looked amazing ! you guys find all these hidden gems
It was heavenly!!
I finally watched the 2nd half of this video. I had to pause and walk away when you were on the ladder. I'll skip that, but thanks for showing me where I want to go, and what I don't want to do.
Glad we could help. Thanks for watching!
Wow, that was a challenging hike 😳 The scenery was beautiful though. I am so glad you skipped the ropes !! Lol You guys made me want to try a date shake. It looked rich and delicious .❤😋❤
The ropes looked terrifying!
Love the slo-mo run from the dinosaur sculpture. LOL.
Hahaha our favorite part of the video! We thought it was a dinosaur, but it turns out it's a Harlan's Ground Sloth, so we felt dumb running from a slot, but then we googled it and saw what it looked like!
@@AdventuresofAplusK Of course it’s a Ground Sloth. My mistake. :)
So envious of your travels…
I bet 99.9% of us think it's a dinosaur! Although we were so confused why he was furry haha
Joshua Tree looks amazing!
It’s a cool park!
We had so much fun out there! It’s a beautiful spot! This was filmed and posted over a year ago, so no rain for us! 😊
Awesome video guys 🤙 love it out there
Such a cool area!
thanks yall, loved the video
I can’t believe you were in my town of Borrego Springs and I missed you . Glad you had fun and … Julian pie
Oh wow! Sorry we missed ya!
Great video! Those ladders made me nervous just watching y’all climb them!
They were a bit shaky!
Had no idea about the Ladder Trail. Going to have to check that out.
Thank you very much, you helped me a lot to plan a route, and the video is WONDERDULedited ❤
We're glad we could help! Thank you and thanks for watching!
The ladders sounded so fun until you said they weren’t attached… LOL! Another great vid!
That made them 10x scarier!
Hello guys, greetings from CDMX, what amazing video, lots of beautiful views. You have got a new follower.
Thank you so much for following along! We ❤️ CDMX!
Another great video! I’ve prowled around Anza Borrego for years and love both the photography and the offbeat desert dwellers. Unless it has rained recently, you can get most places in an AWD vehicle. Best to check with the park visitors center though.
Reviews for Fonts Point said many people get stuck in non 4x4 or AWD (we are RWD), so not worth the risk for us!
@@AdventuresofAplusK Yup. Some fairly deep sand in that wash that needs AWD at least.
@@AdventuresofAplusK Definitely try it...you can even to EXTRA EXTRA crispy, but I thought that was a bit much. Ever try the fries Animal Style?
We don’t loooove their fries, so we are curious if they will be better extra crispy! (I mean we still eat them lol, but not our favorite fries). I’m not a fan of the special spread, so we haven’t tried animal fries.
California is like a small country. So much to do. Closest we’ve been to Salton is seeing it from Keys View in Joshua Tree lol. Oh - eat apple pie with melted cheddar. Trust us. Or eat grilled cheese with apple pie jam. Trust us. 😉
It seriously has any type of scenery you can imagine! And we will have to try apple pie and cheddar...sounds uniquely delicious!
You enjoyed Shield's, I recommend checking out Hadley's market in Cabazon. Also if you folks get back to the Yucca valley area the Integratron is really cool and the live music at Pappy and Harriet's is awesome.
Thank you for the tips!
Thats right cant leave without our famous date shakes!! U missed The Date Festival last month! Indo an Coachella Valley welcome everyone!
So many things to see…so little time
another way you can get to Joshua Tree National Park from Ladder Canyon is to take Box Canyon Road as soon as you come out of the road to Ladder Canyon you go left on Box Canyon Road instead going right to Mecca.
Thanks for sharing!
With the big/awkward backpacks, those ladders were certainly on the short- and steep- side
The backpacks definitely made it tougher, but we have a lot of gear we have to carry to film. For others we’d suggest a smaller pack.
You guys should have done the slot canyon it’s near the sculptures. Absolutely beautiful
We decided to do the ladder canyon slot instead, but it looked cool!
Hi! We have a huge Utah playlist from last year that you can find on our channel.
Great Video guys. looks so interesting
On Friday I saw Wonder of the seas leave port Everglades on its first voyage
Very cool!!
Thank you for the tips!
I get the whole Planet Fitness shower thing. I worked at one for 3 years and we had a lot of members who were truckers and would have Black Card memberships just so they could shower at any Planet Fitness in the country.
It’s a pretty sweet deal!
Great dinosaur run!!!
🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️
I have been to Ju;lian, De Anza Springs Park, Salton Sea on both sides of the sea. Lived in a little town of Westmorland and sampled the date shakes in Indio at Valerie Jeans. Date palms grow rapidly all over So Cal and into Az. A place to visit is Dateland, Az.
We’re glad you’ve gotten to experience these spots too!
Those washboard dirt roads can be brutal. We took a few on our Moab trip and my teeth just about rattled out of my head!
They are awful! We did finally get an item to help us with it though that we will share in two videos!
@@AdventuresofAplusK Awesome!
So many cool things to see ! It s on my bucket list to go to L.A did you 2 check out Griffith Park ?
No we didn’t go to LA
I like it WOW
You guy's rock 🤘🤙🤘🤙🤘🤙🤙🤘
❤️❤️
If you have time visit Pioneer town while at Joshua tree. It’s an old western town nearby.
We really wanted to! But due to weather we had to book it to Death Valley right after to be able to do that park too.
The color and texture of the rocks in ladder canyon remind me of Skyrim vanilla.
@@AdventuresofAplusK yes I saw some of those videos awesome 👍
👍👍👍🌴😎 I'll be in 29 palms next month
Have fun!
We visited the Salton Sea in July, and I was shocked at the millions of little sand fly bugs living in the sand. It was sort of surreal.
Those ladders used to be wood...We used to have Easter in painted canyon every year. My Grandpa's tradition.
We’re thankful for those who spend their time out there so others can enjoy it too!
You make food looks so delicious
I'm sure being from Texas you guys have probably been to Louisiana a few times. Except for the Northern part the rest of the state is below sea level. That's why we have such a bad problem with flooding especially down around Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
I did tell Adam that, but then we googled it and got conflicting answers on the elevation. So we shall modify it to say “this far below sea level!” But we go even further down soon!
