I, living in Korea on the opposite side of the Earth, often search for this channel to see if Sparky Grandpa is doing well. I first discovered it several years ago when I was looking for reviews on grass trimmers. I'm glad to see that you've surpassed 200,000 subscribers and are still actively uploading videos these days.
Thanks so much! I'm doing well, thanks!
This is the best instructional I have seen. It is short, sweet, and to the point. Thanks!
You're very welcome!
Thank you for this, had a piece of string blocking the opening to restring. Had to pull the head cover off, easy peasy using your directions.
Great to hear, thanks!
Thank you!!!! You have THE BEST demo of doing this!!!
I have been using the speed feed head for many years on my Shindaiwa trimmer, they are the best heads in my experience.
I think so too, thanks!
Very detailed video, was looking for the direction of the spool, as I took mine apart first, and he was the first guy to mention it. Great video
Glad it helped!
Thank you for clarifying the difference between R and L on top and that it loads differently. I didn’t see that in any of the instructions are even the short manufacture information.
Excellent video.....I had mine apart and didn't have the L up.....consequently, it wasn't feeding properly.....I thought I needed a new head.....NOT!!!....you saved me about $30 and, I was reminded that this trimmer will use .095 line....lots of help....THANKS A BUNCH!!!
Same here.....but I bought a new head before I saw the video. NOWHERE had I heard that the inner spool ONLY goes one way, in order for it to feed properly.
Sparky, my calls me sparky, great video, I looked everywhere to find out about left and right or L and R reference, you solvede my issue , thank you, maybe you too were an electrcian back in the day, thanks again
Glad I could help!
Thank you! Helpful, straight to the point!
No problem, thanks!
Worked great for teaching me how to do it on my Speedfeed 450 head! Now I just need to get my new SRM-3020T and start cutting. Thanks again for the video!
No problem, good luck!
Good to know, unless my trimmer is completely different I have been putting the line on all WRONG! OMGosh...it's a wonder it even worked at all!!!! Thanks, Judie
You bet!
I had R on top and line kept feeding out. Your video helps. Thank you.
Thank you for making this video. I know nothing about this stuff and this video was so easy for me to follow
Thanks man. This helped me out.
No problem, thanks!
Blessings to you. This video was super helpful.
Great to hear, thanks!
@Sparky Channel. Wow Bill. I'll have to look for those arrows on the bump head of my Echo. I just look down one of the holes where the line comes out to look for daylight when I have the openings lined up. Thanks for showing how to change out the head or do maintenance on the head.
Hope you and your family stay safe and well.
Looking for daylight to see that the eyelets are aligned works just as well. The arrows get beat up pretty well after some time but they are there if you look closely. You stay safe as well, thanks!
Flip the inside over, they are installed one way for curved.shaft opposite for straight shaft
Thanks!
TY TY TY TY
Sparky always the best; a head above the rest!
As in a trimmer head! LOL, thanks!
Thanks Sparky!
super helpful! thank you
Bill, i have a BIG yard to clear tail growth your hired. Lol great video. 👍
LOL! Thanks!
Good demonstration Sparky.
Thanks Gary!
Oh, I see, it takes a speed feed head to make it work like you demo'd here! Should have watched till the end before making my comment!!!! Smiles
Hi Judie! Yes, this video shows a Speed Feed™ head which is probably different from yours. thanks!
@@SparkyChannel ...yes, it is different...darn! That is nice!!!!!
Thank you for the video you are the best
Thanks so much!
Thank you
Very informative
God bless
No problem, thanks!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thanks. That was just what I needed. The L goes up.
Yes, correct.
I have a problem with my head coming off after I start weedeating - any suggestions?
Thank you!
Much appreciated. We'll done
Thanks so much!
Thank you for saying THE L GOES UP!!!!It took me ten minutes to find that out searching the web because I forgot!
Glad I could help!
Love the video, thank you. I am having a issue with my echo 266 feeding faster on one side than the other. I am at my witts end....any suggestions as to what might be causing this issue ?
Perhaps tangled line? Also, how old is the head? They need to be changed out once in a while.
Superb Job. Thank you so much for your help.
You are most welcome!
Great video. Everything you need to know. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks, Sparky.
No problem Tim!
@@SparkyChannel I have been using it for a couple of weeks and it has been great!
Super helpful! Thank you so much!!
Great to hear!
You would laugh if you saw my problem I'm having. Whenever I pull the cord to start my weedeater up, the trimmer line sucks back into the head, any suggestions?
Interesting. What brand do you have? I'm thinking you may have wound the string in the wrong direction.
Thank you alot..you hope me 🙏👍💯🤠
Excellent, great to hear!
Great video. Thank you
You bet, thanks!
Great job, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thos is so important. The L goes up.thank you.
Right on, thanks!
thanks
Why will the speed feed 400 not fit on my echo srm 210? I have all parts and cant figure it out to save my life 😭
Thanks for your video
Most welcome!
Ty
Welcome!
Any idea why whenever I use my speed feed , the line just flies out on it’s own accord and gets all tangled up around the head, without bumping the head on the ground ?? Driving me mad 😡
Wow, sounds like it's broken. I'd call Echo on that one.
Which way do you turn it to load more line?
Follow the arrow on the head with the word "wind".
I can’t get the head off mine. Any suggestions? It’s extremely tight
Remember, the head comes off clockwise.
@@SparkyChannel thanks for the response! I have a DPAS-2100 model. Is it a different method? I have the slot to put the screwdriver but there is no indention that the screwdriver locks or pushes in it’s just a smooth wall inside.
Mine is missing the metal ring with the slot for a screwdriver that goes around the shaft, so I can't lock the shaft. Any suggestions? I don't have pliers that are skinny enough to grab the shaft.
Hi Sean! We have the same last name. I'm Bill Monahan from San Diego. Nice to meet you!
I don't know what to do about the missing part but perhaps you could call DeWalt and ask for a replacement part.
Hello, distant relative, and thanks for such a quick reply! The issue with mine is that, without the locking collar/ring, I can't get the head off to install a replacement 🙃. I need a super, duper skinny set of pliers with a round, serrated gripping surface, or some other way of holding the drive shaft in place. Needle nose pliers don't have the right shape to grab the shaft, and none of my regular pliers are skinny enough to fit the gap.
@@SeanCMonahan Are you missing the collar that I have in my hand at 2:01 ?
Yes, that's the piece that's missing on mine unfortunately. Whoever worked on this last didn't put that piece back on before screwing the head on.
@@SeanCMonahan I see. I would call DeWalt and get another piece. I think it might be dangerous to use without that piece, and I have to look out for fellow Monahan's!
Best
Thanks!
The Echo speed head does not fit. Is here aNything im doing wrong
They are left hand thread. That might be the problem.
Bill, It appears that YT has not yet restored your channel back to what it was. Frustrating! The ingratitude exhibited towards creators is nearly unforgivable. :(
Hi Michael! Great to hear from you brother! I'm still holding out hope of getting the original Sparky Channel back. But this new Sparky Channel with the new URL is coming along great. For instance, the new series on EMT bending is much better than the series on the original channel. Something good is going to happen, I can feel it! Thanks so much and best wishes to you and your family!
I am a bit confused on this. When you say “the L goes up” do you mean it faces the ground in operating position, or the sky?
The ground - Up towards your eyes when you're putting it on.
@@pleibel Goes up could mean towards the sky while operating. That's how I took it. Good thing i found this clarification.
In general, I find these speed heads frustrating. When you tap to release more line, it seems loops inside the head get a bit unraveled and sometimes trap the line. Next time you try to get more line out, it is jammed.
I hear ya! I've taken to put this video into my desktop "filing cabinet" as I seem to need to refer to it every year! 🙄@@ivanchernyavskiy1320
Thank you!!!! You have THE BEST demo of doing this!!!
Great video - thank you
My pleasure!
