Great tips, getting ready to swap my head out soon. I finally got smart and started carrying extra line in my pocket - trimming stone walls in old pasture fields in VT can be a hike. Now, if we could find a SAFE way to carry gas/oil mix in a hydration backpack, that would solve having to shlep a gas can as well. Trimming Rambo style! I combined your video with one from a guy showing how to put a bolt on the trim head to make it last longer. . .I won't get home until dark! Thanks for the video!

I use my speedfeed head on my Honda gx35. Easily the best trimmer head design out there hands down.
Edit: also for anyone who reading this and is interested in the speedfeed and have a Honda trimmer it is literally plug and play it fits the Honda trimmer gearbox out of the box so no need to use the added compatibility bolts and screws super easy to install.

Echo 400 also fits the Dewalt 60V Trimmer [DCST970] out of the box, just take off the old dewalt garbage head and replace with this echo 400, all you need is a phillips screwdriver to hold plate in place to screw on new echo 400, cheers!

Love the speed heads saves tons of time. An extra back up line in your pocket is a must, it never fails it will run out wherever your the furthest away from your truck! Lol
Also if your old line becomes bridle and breaks easily, just soak it in water it will rehydrate the line and make it less bridle.
    Good video brother

Those SF heads are cool, but quite honestly I have never had a problem with my standard line head.
Twist off, do your centering (like JB's wing step or other method) insert the middle into the catch, wind up and re-insert.
I guess too many people ate lead paint chips as kids to get how this works, so they came up with an even easier way. 🤣
    Keep on rocking, JB!!

not trying to hijack anything on your excellent video JB. to the comment of the poster about having some extra lengths of trimmer line. I keep mine on a spool, but what I also have done is taken about four or five lengths and coil them up and I leave them in one of the map pockets in my truck in case I am ever without my school or it runs out before I get a chance to replace it I have some backups. so for the homeowner I might suggest peeling off a coil or two and sticking one somewhere different than you normally keep your line trimmer container maybe if you're lime trimmer container is in your shed with your trimmer keep an extra coil in the garage so if you run out and you go damn! you have enough to get your yard done and go get a replacement spool or package
