I've been using the stihl square lately but I find its a little bit rough around borders... Would be good to see an actual cut test where you look into the quality of the grass blade after?
Enjoyed this one guys! Josh's cute face under pressure lol Ive always used the Oregon round line. The yellow one. However, I'm now hooked on the Kress line.
I've found the Oregon nylium square line cuts well and is reasonably durable. The most durable line is the old 3mm yellow round stuff! Not sure if you should run thicker line on smaller strimmers though? Personally if there are no obstacles I prefer a grass blade.
When you have folks that are doing an experiment with weed trimmer line, these videos are needed, cause if you buy a weed trimmer line and then you find out the line you bought is at the bottom of value, you know you would rather have a longer lasting line, I don't really consider price that much of a problem,
Great vid ! Have to say I bought the stihl square line when I got my new stihl strimmer, didn’t know that they already came with line but I tried the square and even soaked it in water like they recommended and didn’t really like it especially for edging, I went back to the cheap round line that came with the strimmer which seems better.
Hi James and Josh, really good review, i use line called chrorine 2.4mm bought from amazon and really happy with it mind, i only use it for small garden use 👍
Nice comparison guys, I've used Oregon Magnum Gatorline Supertwist for years here in the US and have been satisfied with it. Guess I'll have to give the Stihl CF3 Pro a shot before long. 👍 Hook Josh up to the hoist and see what his stretching limit is. 🤣🤣
@@MachineryNationid be keen to see you try the fs490 and or FS 560, I've been having issues with mine melting line inside the head to the point it all sticks together and or snaps off ! Its infuriating, tired soaking in water, different diameter, different manufacturers etc.
@@Saxondog what machine where you running ? I've tried Stihl round, square & cf3 in a few sizes, as well as vortex in 3 sizes, Oregon etc. Never had the issue with the fs350, 400 & 450, or 545 / 555rxt I personally think its because the fs460, 490, 560 run to fast because of the m tronic as they are optimised for clearing saw work. As the 350, 400, 450 and 545, 555rxt don't tach out any where near as fast, Stihl just deny the issue. I wonder if a dual setting MT map or "eco speed" system would work to select mowing with nylon or blade / saw work. I also think a more ergonomic throttle system should be brought back, thumb throttle or take a leaf out of kärchers "easyforce" trigger book. To prevent fatigue on long jobs What do you think ?
Hi James & Josh Good test be interesting to see thick verses thin line comparison have mostly used stihl line had some oregon the flexy blade ? once Thanks again
I previously used Husqvarna XFORCE Platinum, it was excellent. Unfortunately my dealer no longer stock it! Have to mention the skiny little line you get with the Milwaukee M18 brushcutter, it's actually pretty good! Currently using Husqvarna whisper line, it's ok, but you go through it quite quickly!
Interesting video guys I use the Oregon Flexi blade on my honda 4 stroke strimmer and husqvarna whisper cord on my battery strimmer. I do use a lot of the Flexi blade it's doesn't last long in the head I use on the strimmer. Would be interesting to see a comparison video on different types of heads for strimmers or maybe nylon heads Vs blades.
I use the cf3 pro 2.4mm. It’s brilliant. But definitely soaking in water helps.but I brought some 2.4mm huskys opti quadra line. That’s not too bad. But I’m stihl through and through
I noticed when you put your line in you do it in two separate pieces, when I do it I do one long piece, am I doing something wrong or does it not matter? 😅
I use Oregon, Echo and Ratioparts all time. The shape and diameter depends on the machine size and what I am doing with it (just trimming and edging or mow down thick grass and weeds)
Hello. Have you guys compare the FSA135 against the FSA200? I have the FSA135 over 3 years and have used and abused it beyond manufacturing recommendation, this with all kind blades never have any problem. Now for what I see the FSA200 have a little more power but what about battery time? Is it like the MSA300 witch I also have but resembles a Mustang GT with gas tank in the reserve? In a 20" diameter oak log about 11 or 12 cuts and the AP500S battery is out of power and hot, if it be the case then I am better with mine 100% reliable and excellent performance FSA135.
I like how you guys test things and edit the video. It is a good pace compared to project farm. He talks too fast so i just go to end of video to see results a lot of times. Yall talk at a normal speed and i like that.
well bugger me...... y'all have the same whiney fella with his 4 million feet of line... as we have the fella who can get 2 years fuel out of a oil tank what holds 6months oil. 👍
The true sign that you've reached adulthood, watching videos comparing trimmer line.
Mate. I was thinking the same thing 😂
Hi James + Josh, Great review on these trimmer lines, catch you soon Take care
Thanks Shaun 👍🏼

Great test lads.
I’m still using the old Oregon yellow line. Been using it for about 15-20 years and it’s cheap too.
Thanks Stuart. Thanks for the feedback.

Ive always used the Oregon round line. The yellow one.
However, I'm now hooked on the Kress line.
Haha, haven’t tried the Kress line. Do they make it themselves or rebranded?
I'm not actually 100% sure but it reminds me a lot of a Husqvarna one I used to use. Silver grey type one. Real queit but strong.
I've found the Oregon nylium square line cuts well and is reasonably durable. The most durable line is the old 3mm yellow round stuff! Not sure if you should run thicker line on smaller strimmers though? Personally if there are no obstacles I prefer a grass blade.
The general consensus is a thiner higher quality line is better than a cheaper think line.

The 2 most important tests really are the fray and longevity, so the oregon nylium is very closely matched to the stihl pro.
Yeah good point 👍🏼

Anytime brother, thanks. 🙂
I would buy that for the name alone ! 😀
@@jameswyeth8223 it’s good stuff 🙂👍🏼
Just ordered some CF3, never used Stihl line before.. looks promising.
Nice, thanks Joshua 👍🏼
Be interesting to see different results for line that's been soaked seems to last better when strimming
Would be good to see the lines getting tested in the environment they were made for!! Grass and vegetation 👍

Stihl CF3 is 27 not 29…
Yeah 🤦🏻♂️ luckily it doesn’t change the result haha

Whichever grey square one i bought from Aldi except in Australia
I use the STIHL cf3 pro and love it but I would like the see the husqvarna line tested
Yeah, unfortunately they don’t get back to us.

wish you had added a ebay special as a control see how cheap rubbish performs for the price . good test
