Wow, in my desperation I gave up on my doctor and Physio and found some fella on the internet who gave me instant relief from a 2 min video. Thanks man!
Thank you Thank you Thank youuuu! I'm a graphic designer and I've had RSI and I stopped working for a month, I went to 2 doctors, took 5 vitamins, 3 meds and none of those helped, after I saw your vid I did those massages and I was back to work instantly!! I'm not back to normal but at least I'm back to work. Thanks again
RSI of hands and upper arms can also be a pinched nerve in the back nerve the scapula. Try forcefully lowering your shoulders and also stretching your elbows back behind as when waking up. This may clear the RSI of hands instantly, with the nerve signal unblocked in this way. I had massage for months which reduced it very temporarily but the RSI comes back in half a day. To solve permanently I do the above two stretches a few times each day and never had hand RSI since. During the stretch you almost feel like a river being released through the harms - amazing feeling.
Thank you! I have had RSI for a few weeks now and no stretches or exercises have helped. After only a few massages in the spots you mentioned the possibility has eased off a bit.
Is it just that tapping motion u did in the video for the massage? Did u have the link to the video u mentioned, or could u do another one to show how to do the massage? Thanks so much - and so glad u got good results for yourself 🙂
It's a few years ago so I don't remember where I learnt this from. It's kind of a massaging motion but on the shoulder it seems easier to push using fingers like playing a piano with stiff keys. Maybe having someone else do it might be easier.
I'm turning 25 this month and for the first time ever I've experienced such sharp, insurmountable forearm pain from just non-stop gaming and mouse-use. I own a massage gun and use it daily, but I guess nothing beats just taking regular breaks and genuinely listening to your body. I've tried every stretch imaginable and yet these stretches have had the biggest effect on me during this pain, thank you.
I'm glad it helped. You do have to watch how much time you spend on the computer once you get these problems. I learnt to use either hand for the mouse and use speech to text to do less typing.
@brendon205 It does get better, but the RSI won't go away unless you limit gaming from now on. If you don't want to have chronic pain like I do now, you should STOP USING THE MOUSE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE for a good month or two to heal. A few things that have helped me th are doing the massages shown in this video, in addition to NECK and LOWER BACK stretches and exercises. You'll notice your neck, specifically, is a big part of why you're having this pain. I recommend going to the gym now and developing strength. Shoulders, back, chest, arms, all need to be strong so your poor forearm doesn't take the brunt every time you game. Lastly, I recommend looking into pain creams and sprays. Menthol cream is a good one to use before going to sleep as there are studies that show it promotes healing. The purpose of pain relief medicine is so that when you're in pain, you don't keep stress and anxiety going in your forearm, which is actually counter-productive. Stress and pain cause your immune system to send inflammation to the targeted area and it does more harm than good if it isn't being done so sparingly. This is why you should be promoting healing during sleep and rest, instead of constantly triggering inflammation over and over and over again by gaming and being stressed and in pain. If after resting for a month or two you are '"cured" then build strength and good posture. Gaming needs to be done from now on with strength, posture, and stretch breaks, and with limitation. Good luck!

Your a lucky man, then!! ;-) Know I am now self-building my latest (7th) ECOhome (LUNA), in SW FL, USA. I designed it while traveling about in my Honda Fit, largely on park tables along the way. Truth be told, I think doing so is the BEST way! A favorite spot, birds chirping, wind in the trees, quiet. I wish you the same, & plenty of better food than is found in the USA fast foods! LUNA can be seen on my website, www.HomePlansDrawn.com. But, please tell me more of how I might "see the world" by subscribing here :-) You see, I've self-built a micro cruising catamaran, & plan to sail her in the Gulf of Mexico, while designing along the way. Maybe...your adventure will take you aboard a catamaran, or canalboats? Less traffic! :-) And...PLEASE do quit using that itty-nitty laptop as your primary design tool. I build my ECOhomes using a simple PV array & battery. You can easily do so, with a modified desktop system. For, after all, a computer is a 12v device! Buona Fortuna!
RSI is usually nerve, tendon or muscle inflammation. I guess it makes sense that massage can gradually improve it. When it's been a chronic thing, the inflammation may have done some permanent damage, but it makes sense that you can still return to 80% as good as normal. What is your status now 7 years after this video?
Hi, it's pretty good now. I just have to limit time on the computer to a couple of hours a day and take a few days off if I get problems. I still use the same massage techniques if I get pain but I think I noticed the improvement more when it was really bad those 7 years ago. I was on the computer 12 or so hours a day then so was probably asking for trouble 😵💫
@@exploringavenues2269 Thank you, that's really wonderful to hear. My mother is dealing with the same pain now and has had it for the last 2-3 years from computer use. She just began massaging those trigger points like you mentioned. I guess the main thing to do is to find trigger points and massage those, and do it pretty gently since it hurts?
Have you tried a graphics tablet instead of a computer mouse? I've read on reddit some positive cases, but haven't tried it myself. Got CTS (RSI) in my wrist because of constant mouse usage. Replacing regular mouse with vertical gave me some relief, but it's not 100%. So seeking other solutions...
i have realy bad wrist problems that have realy destroyed my life. I'm unsure how i'm supposed massage my wrists But if this Works then i'll be in extremy greatfull
Hi. My arms are fine but I do have to limit the time on the computer. I did carry on working full time for a couple of years and was on it all day and evening so it has taken its toll. The method I said definitely sorted it out for me when it happened. I don't know if it worked for other people.
I just wondered if you know where I could find information on careers after you have rsi ? I have it my wrist a lower arm from manual work. trying to find a job I can do :(
You can not be serious, you're sitting like that in front of the computer? That's why you got RSI! Get an office chair and sit higher for christs sake.
I agree but have lived out of a suitcase for the last 30 years in several countries each year so just have to use the furniture that is available. I don't spend so long on the computer nowadays.
Do you do push ups or pull ups? I started those with pullups with an Rubber band. And the pushups from my knees Those extra muscles are also helping me
Don't disagree as have problems with my back too. Problem is I normally live in hotels and now in a campervan in Spain for 3 months. I will have to find something portable that works for my back.
