Honestly it was for the better you were a bit gentler on yourself with this challange. 2024 Was a very chaotic year for you and you didn't plan to be moving out when you made that origonal video as you're usually really good in keeping up with your plans. But due the move, you were readjusting and trying to be mindful of what you were feeling. Also you have this year to attempt again with the 25 books in 2025, and work on building up again what you want to read. Hopefully you'll feel less worried now that you've at least gotten through some of that challange in this video and you can start the new year with a better headspace.
When you talked about not liking when you can tell a story is holding back as a marketing ploy for book two. YES. It's so frustrating when that happens, and you're right, it almost never benefits the story itself.
gav idk if you're aware but your local library card will give you access to borrowbox which has ebooks and audiobooks. you can also sign up for library cards in your neighbouring counties too and then get access to their borrowbox catalogues as well for more choice and potentially shorter wait times. i'm sure the nyc library probably has a lot more books available but try and use your local elibrary when you can because those issuing stats really help so much and will help keep your library open and able to buy more and more new books etc :)
If that ever happens with ur bath in the future u can always heat a pot of water on the stove n add it to the bath to warm it up 🩷❤️ like old school lol

25:23 yes the epsom salt will still work. Also take magnesium supplements if you tend to have leg pain after workouts! Potassium also helps a lot but don’t use supplements w/o your doctor because potassium is way easier to overdose on and case cardiac issues. Bananas and kale are a great source of it. You hit the nail on the head with your comments about needing to read things that are different and riskier. I've been drifting further and further away from reading for the past few years. First, I switched almost exclusively to audiobooks and then fell into the rut of mostly listening to cozy mysteries - simple and comforting. Over the last year, I've listened to fewer and fewer books. I didn't really give it much thought but now I think I'm just bored. I used to read a lot and a wider variety of genres. I've been saving some of your recommendations over the last year, so I think I'll start by alternating between them and some nonfiction books I want to read. Thanks for the insight, Gavin!
I also have that New York Libby card!! Definitely worth the money - because of it over half my reads last year were library books, and they have a really good range of books especially new releases. Wait times can be long but sometimes I’ve gotten lucky

Great Video as always ❤ 27:45 that reminded me of the time when I really wanted to take a hot bath but the water just wouldn't turn warm enough so I boilt water and put it in the bathtub to warm it up 😂😂 worked like a charm 😅❤
Fill up the kettle and add hot water to the bath to fix the temperature. A bit annoying when you have sore legs and have to go up and down the stairs, but it does work.

I know it would suck to break up the “book wing” but as someone who also mentally needs separation between my home office and living space, it does so much for my mental health. I’m sure you’ve thought of this but just in case not thought I would propose the option. Also, hard to kinda do now since you are moved in but using tape on the ground of the actual size of the item can help you figure out layout without having to move furniture.
Maybe you could get a room divider. Kind of like something with a curtain that you can literally just move to against the wall when you need that space so that way when you’re working you just have the curtain behind you. Just a thought ❤

Most middle grades are fantasy and feel very samey. I'm trying my hardest to branch out and find different genres to make it more exciting for myself because I feel similarly to you

In terms of home cooking services, I would highly recommend Tovala. I used them for a couple of years and it was fantastic. You get the little oven for a decent price and scan the barcode and it cooks the food in the oven for you as opposed to microwaving.
When your water won’t come out hot enough for the bath just warm two rounds of kettle and dump it in! Used to do this all the time in my terrible college apartment lol two kettles added is enough to make a huge difference!

Please give The House Witch a chance! This is not like the typical fantasy romance you got burnt out from. In my opinion, these books are first and foremost a cozy, humorous fantasy. They are hilarous, and a really easy quicker read too, I think you would like them :)

You didn't have to waste the bath bombs. I've had a similar issue before and I used a kettle and some large pots to boil water and dump that into the tub. The only thing is that you might have to do it a few times if you don't have large pots, but it does work.

I used to get the YA Fairyloot but found the books weren’t working for me (I also was no longer enjoying YA as much in general) and switched to the Romantasy and it’s working better for me. Reading tastes change and it’s def worth it to examine your subs from time to time!

If your house is a new build, there’s a regulator on the pipes under the baths. It’s designed to stop kids from being able to scald themselves with hot water. A plumber will be able to remove it for you so you can have a hot bath!
Convection principle is how a water heater works: As water heats up, it becomes less dense and rises to the top of the tank, allowing the hottest water to be dispensed first so you might need to adjust the temperature of the tub water after it fills up
I also still need to read Arkspire☺ My cats also like the pretty light fireworks, but they are scared of the loud ones. And sadly enough they almost only used the loud (and probably) illegal fireworks around here. 😮💨
I feel the same with regarding subscription box books especially fairyloot. I feel they used to have such good picks, I got the YA and adult boxes and genuinely out of a years worth of books I enjoyed like 3 / 24 and those I’d have picked up myself anyway. I did cancel , I’m sad because they are gorgeous but the picks just aren’t as good, or maybe I just know what I like and don’t like now!
