To be perfectly honest even with the 10 round mag i'm confident this weapon was far better than anyone gave it credit for - it always has been one of the most judged and underestimated since alpha.....Personally ive always enjoyed the power of pulling "Joker card tactics"

The 10 round mag was just a small hindrance to me, the VSS has always been my favorite and people slept on it because of the mag size. Its so damn good in close quarters and sniping medium ranges since the enemy simply can't hear where you're shooting from
The only reason why I don't use these weapons is due to the subsonic velocity. I tend to get into long range gunfights where an LAR or M4 would be much easier to tag targets.

No, the AP rounds should not completely ignore armor. If the regular rounds do 47.5 damage against armored targets (half of unarmored) then the AP rounds should do roughly 75 damage so they're only losing 20% of their damage through armor. Also, the AP rounds penetration value should be buffed, +10% isn't enough, it should be around +30%, IMO.
the mechanic just does not work like that. The armored vests all have a 50% damage reduction against bullets. And they do that as long as their hitpoints are not depleted. If the hitpoints are not sufficient, the complete damage of the round is applied. The AP rounds seem to bypass this mechanic. So they would need to introduce a new damage function to handle the AP rounds in order to implement this. I mean it's not impossible but currently pretty unlikely.
Yes, they should ignore armor because of the steel core penetrator but should have slightly higher dispersion because the steel core isn't perfectly centered from round to round. That's only if their roughly the s as me as a XM855 green tip.
i like this change imo and the VSS/VAL with AP rounds while pumping out insane dmg has a trade off with being poor for sniping and longer ranges meaning it will be a monster in Close to medium range, thats what i feel will balance it out compared to the 308 LAR, boils down to high dmg or having higher velocity on rounds for better ranged combat
Well "armor piercing" doesn't mean magic bullets. Depending on the bullet and cartridge design it either should have increased manstopping power after penetration of the armor, or lower manstopping power, but certainly no the same man stopping power as if it didn't penetrate any armor.
It certainly makes the LAR better at medium distances compared to the AP round weps. But when it comes to range, there is a gap between Vaiga and LAR that the VSS/VAL fits in nicely.

Its good on paper but in reality tagets dont stand still. I still would go for .308 armour or no armour. Although I was mentioning this in previous videos that you ignore the existence of AP ammunition so Im glad you made video about it finally.
If I had to choose I'd still pick a FN FAL because it has more constistant ballistics and longer ranges and ammo availbility. That being said this buff really makes AS VAL/Vintorez great again. I wish they would give a little buff to pistol rounds and 7.62x39 mm too.
7.62x39 reeally needs to do more damage than 5.45x39 and 5.56x45 like it used to rn it's just dumb to use it, it's slower, has higher recoil, and does the same damage as these other rounds
Maybe we should have plates like what call of duty Warzone have where you pick up plates and stick it in your plate, carrier or an animation for that that would be pretty cool
I'd love to see 5.56 AP and I wouldn't mind seeing a vpo .366 shotgun, either the bolt action or the semi automatic with AP rounds. Also with shotguns esp with saiga I find going for legs works super well you almost always get an instant knock out unless it's a modded server. Super nasty with the drum mag.
I like use lar with combat sight as main gun for shooting enemies at close/medium range. Idk but the asval/vss still can be worst compared to the lar because of the bullet speed is so low that make me prefer other weapons
My only gripes with the SVAL is the fire rate and that exclusive attachment for the rail system. The fire rate should be increase to 900RPM as that's what it is for it's IRL counterpart, however I can understand why they didn't due to game balance. And with the rail system, I feel like the other AK variant weapons should be allowed to use such an attachment, it's so cool to be able to use NATO optics on an AK weapon. Overall, I'm excited to see the weapon in action and I can't wait to see what we can do with mods for it ;)
Yeah, we already have mods to do that in dayZ, I do it all the time in tarkov, just add a mount with a picatinny rail that goes on russian rails, all the aks, SVD and VSS/VAL would be able to be used with every sight/scope
I think the 20 round mag shouldn't be added at all, as something similar to the ssg and Aug from csgo will happen, where it is already a very strong weapon with it's own ups and downs, but it is only after it is buffed that people will begin using it.
Honestly I think this is all perfectly fine in theory but in my opinion now they just need to increase the range in which you can audibly hear a suppressed weapon because there's just this strange cut off where they stop making sounds that can make it impossible to even know your being shot at sometimes. I don't mind the inability to decipher the direction the fire is coming from immediately but you should always know when your getting shot at especially within relatively close range. Unless I'm entirely mistaken and my ears have deceived me this whole time in which case I'm off to go buy hearing aids.

Now although the increased damage with armor-piercing rounds does make the gun extremely powerful against armored players, both the VSS and LAR still take 2 body shots to kill which puts them in my mind equal. And with the LAR being one shot without armor, that makes it a clear winner for the better gun

However I do think that because they do it so well, that having some form of counter to wouldn't be too bad of an idea if it was implemented well. Adding another form of plate carrier that could reduce it's damage, but don't reduce it by a ridiculous amount. Something around 20% I think would be a good number. After all there needs to be a reason to use the AP rounds. The problem then arises that if another form of plate carrier is introduced into the game to somewhat counter the AP rounds, then that plate carrier would make the other obsolete, and would be OP as all fuck, against non AP munitions such as 5.56, or 7.62x39.
Does the 20rd mag really work with the VSS? I saw another video by MARKS and he said it does not work at the moment and at the beginning of your video the VSS has definitely the smaller mag.

I really would like to see DayZ with the Escape from Tarkov gunhandling. Would feel so much better. I really love DayZ but I just can´t take it anymore to just keep on having weird ass gunhandling when there are better options same for hitting moving targets on crowded servers with mods
Hey WOBO, could you make a video investigating inventory priority? I've noticed when doing the automatic magazine reload by hold R, it grabs the first available magazine in my inventory and loads it in, but the empty magazine tends to jump randomly into different inventory spaces, rather than into my plate carrier where I like to store them, could you investigate this pattern further? Or possibly try to figure out how you consistently keep magazines in the correct inventory spaces?
The plate carriers are still effective, just not against this beast, so the plate carrier isn't "useless" per se. With that said, the SVAL spawn rates should be SUPER LOW. For the record, as long as we're talking about rendering certain gear useless, a tac helmet is no better than a boonie hat vs. the SVAL.
They are supposed to wipe all characters and servers on Feb 14, so all duped loot will be put back into rotation. Plus the ASVAL is a helicopter drop, so it is supposed to ignore server economy
I certainly like it. Whoever is using the VSS/AS VAL gets to ignore armor, and the trade off is that 9x39 is much harder to use at range so the user is a bit limited when it comes to long range fights. I think that's fair. Honestly though, its nice that there's a weapon that is a huge middle finger to anyone wearing armor.
I killed a bunch of guys on OFF and they had 3 Svals. At Staroye, I'm not sure if they duped them. Also 2 LARs. If they did, they suck for that but I'm still keeping the guns
.308 travels in the air faster, has more weapons that use it, is more common to find and is still a two shot kill to players with armor on. I'm never gonna find these guns anyway but my choice is still the LAR.
If only I could find anything other than an SKS or Mosin lmao I've seen five AK's and one M4 since 1.0 came out, and four of those AK's and that one M4 were all being used to kill me :(
I like the VSS and I haven't played dayz in a hot minute, but I doubt this gun will become the "go to" gun simply because finding ammo for it is stupidly hard.

It all depends on the server. If you are on a server with base building once the pack rats collect all 2 of the weapons that the game will let spawn and stash them in their fort, they will be worthless.
Imo Fal is still better than VSS and AS VAL, maybe they do more damage than Fal but it still requires 2 shots in the chest to kill a player (1 for head for both of these weapons since headshot damage is 2x), bullet is slower, AP ammo is way more harder to find, has more recoil and its ruining carrier plate which potentially could be yours after looting the enemy. The only pros of them are that they are silenced and if enemy is somehow below 96 hp (unless you are in extended fight or in the middle of fight of other players) it oneshots.
The weapons are super rare and the ammo isn’t the easiest to find either. In the real world AP ammo isn’t gonna care about you’re armor, so why should it in DayZ 🤷♂️

I think they should make armor piercing rounds harder to find those rounds should be in a tear 3 or 4 loot location it's annoying to loot for hours get good gear than some guy comes out of no were and kills me with one shot then I ask how then he tells me he has armor piercing rounds

CoD lazer Tag bullets made the As VaL superior unlike DayZ bullet physics. Can't compare the 2 games.

200m + is no noise whatsoever, and it isn't easy to hear under that.

a modded server I play on has disabled AP rounds because they completely nullify the high tier armors there (even 6B43 aka Juggernaut gets ignored)

Does the 20rd mag really work with the VSS? I saw another video by MARKS and he said it does not work at the moment and at the beginning of your video the VSS has definitely the smaller mag.

The lar should have a ridicolouse recoil and the vss/asval almost non just like reallife
What makes you think 9x39 would have no recoil, it is higer caliber than 7.62x39 after all.

Also the 308 (7.62 x 51) should be unhandled at full auto

I really would like to see DayZ with the Escape from Tarkov gunhandling. Would feel so much better. I really love DayZ but I just can´t take it anymore to just keep on having weird ass gunhandling when there are better options same for hitting moving targets on crowded servers with mods

Hey WOBO, could you make a video investigating inventory priority?
I've noticed when doing the automatic magazine reload by hold R, it grabs the first available magazine in my inventory and loads it in, but the empty magazine tends to jump randomly into different inventory spaces, rather than into my plate carrier where I like to store them, could you investigate this pattern further? Or possibly try to figure out how you consistently keep magazines in the correct inventory spaces?

Honestly if it’s going through plate vest, it should be causing more damage do to blooming and shrapnel :/
The plate carriers are still effective, just not against this beast, so the plate carrier isn't "useless" per se. With that said, the SVAL spawn rates should be SUPER LOW. For the record, as long as we're talking about rendering certain gear useless, a tac helmet is no better than a boonie hat vs. the SVAL.

They are supposed to wipe all characters and servers on Feb 14, so all duped loot will be put back into rotation. Plus the ASVAL is a helicopter drop, so it is supposed to ignore server economy

I certainly like it. Whoever is using the VSS/AS VAL gets to ignore armor, and the trade off is that 9x39 is much harder to use at range so the user is a bit limited when it comes to long range fights. I think that's fair. Honestly though, its nice that there's a weapon that is a huge middle finger to anyone wearing armor.
I killed a bunch of guys on OFF and they had 3 Svals. At Staroye, I'm not sure if they duped them. Also 2 LARs. If they did, they suck for that but I'm still keeping the guns

.308 travels in the air faster, has more weapons that use it, is more common to find and is still a two shot kill to players with armor on. I'm never gonna find these guns anyway but my choice is still the LAR.

The vss was always good. Just small mag size and it takes special ammo made it not worth looking out for
How about the coupled VSS mag then? I always find those randomly strewn in mili bases. never the VSS itself though haha
I like the VSS and I haven't played dayz in a hot minute, but I doubt this gun will become the "go to" gun simply because finding ammo for it is stupidly hard.
Eh. I have 3 ammo crates FULL of AP rounds.
Head up to tissy and just rotate loot I find 4 boxes of 9x39 minimum every time

It all depends on the server. If you are on a server with base building once the pack rats collect all 2 of the weapons that the game will let spawn and stash them in their fort, they will be worthless.
Imo Fal is still better than VSS and AS VAL, maybe they do more damage than Fal but it still requires 2 shots in the chest to kill a player (1 for head for both of these weapons since headshot damage is 2x), bullet is slower, AP ammo is way more harder to find, has more recoil and its ruining carrier plate which potentially could be yours after looting the enemy. The only pros of them are that they are silenced and if enemy is somehow below 96 hp (unless you are in extended fight or in the middle of fight of other players) it oneshots.
The weapons are super rare and the ammo isn’t the easiest to find either. In the real world AP ammo isn’t gonna care about you’re armor, so why should it in DayZ 🤷♂️
I think ap should have less damage than a reg ammo. Like 70-80 but still ignore armor.

Do the 9x39 AP's still perform the same, post 1.12? In reference to destroying plate carriers, not damage as I already know the health damage has been nerfed in 1.12.
I know because it's a game they have to do it that way but should one bullet really ruin a plate?

I think they should make armor piercing rounds harder to find those rounds should be in a tear 3 or 4 loot location it's annoying to loot for hours get good gear than some guy comes out of no were and kills me with one shot then I ask how then he tells me he has armor piercing rounds
