A therapist tells you “anxiety can impact your thoughts and make you more likely to do/consider ____” and instead of using that knowledge to recognize those thoughts and work against them, people use them as their excuse to do that thing.

I heard the conspiracy theory that this “voice memo” was actually a recorded conversation. And that maybe the recorded conversation was done without the other person knowing it was being recorded. In California it’s illegal to record someone without them knowing. Which in itself him having it he could get in trouble for that. Also you can’t just turn in a voice memo to the police and they will take action right away. There has to be a victim for there to be a crime unfortunately. If the victim doesn’t come forward then the police hands are tied and nothing they can do. They can make contact with whoever is on the memo and the victim can totally be like “nope not me” and that’s the end of it.

Shane has shown in many instances when he says somethings serious and then after a while when the situation isn't in his favor, he backtracks and says he was only joking. Like in that documentary about the behind the scenes of his awful movie. After their first public viewing trial or something, he told his team that he doesn't want to read the notes that the audience wrote about their thoughts on the movie. He said he didn't need it because he watched the reaction of the audience and by what he saw, they enjoyed it. Of course, that's not the case. The audience hated the movie and it's written in the notes why. Pretty sure he knew that but he just didn't want to read because he can't take criticisms. His team kept convincing him to read it and when he was finally in a disadvantaged position and that the only way to get out there was to read the notes, he told his team something like "why did you take me seriously? I was only joking when i said i didn't want to read the notes" Saying that it was only a joke is an excuse for him to not take accountability for his decisions and actions. My theory is that it means that he doesn't actually love or care for his subscribers, but just wants views and money, since Onision had always made it a point to say he didn't love his subscribers, since he didn't know us (I have no idea if he still does this).

My personal theory on the voice memo: it was just another person Jeffree hired/convinced to lie about James, but this person got cold feet or came to his senses before going public with his accusations, leaving this voice note as the only "proof". This person told Jeffree to keep it to himself because he(the unknown person) wanted to keep his name out of the scandal. Jeffree acquiesced because this person would publicly admit the truth if Jeffree outed him, so instead Jeffree used the secrecy to his advantage, because that worked better for him than having yet another accuser retract their story. We've already been told that the voice memo comes from a relatively well-known youtuber, and either their identity or their acting is what sold it as credible to Blaire. I expect we'll find out who it is whenever Jeffree implodes.

Anyway, she claims that she has heard from several sources that Jeffree/Shane's MO is to get people drunk/high then have them say/do things whilst under the influence and keep said information as blackmail for future use or as a way to say to that person 'You can't say anything about me because if you do, we release this!'. Tati kind of alluded to it in her video where she said about how Jeffree had A LOT of info on people and how people had been 'forced' to say things they'd never otherwise say. To me, that could well mean that whatever voice memo Jeffree has about an alleged victim claiming that James abused them could well be someone who was co-erced whilst under the influence to say those things. They are perhaps too scared to come forward because A) Jeffree/Shane have dirt on them and they don't want to be exposed B) Jeffree/Shane threatened to destroy them if they did ever admit what had happened C) Jeffree/Shane told them that they would be HATED if people found out they lied about an assault D) All of the above. I do think it was very irresponsible of Blair to come out and say about it being 'credible'. In the same video she admits that Jeffree is a monster, so a monster could easily fake evidence of something right? I think her video played right into Jeffree's hands and he's used Blair as another pawn in his game.

In tati’s video she said “there wasn’t enough to go to the police” so I took that as there wasn’t enough evidence on the clip for her to go to the police (ie didn’t know the victim or the time/date). I would have assumed the clip wasn’t nefarious enough to go to the police if she has worded it differently.
If a crime did occur, it’s not up to Tati to decide if the evidence will hold up in a court of law. It’s her responsibility to go to the authorities and let them do whatever they want with it.

In my opinion, I think Alizee mostly MEANS that this cannot be used as an excuse to not take responsibility. Anyone can be manipulated, yes. But an adult cannot just say “oops. I got manipulated. So none of this is my fault.” If their actions led to someone being hurt. You cannot use your gullibility as a free pass, because then where is the line. I still don’t think that that is true though, I really do think that he was just making really bad jokes and did not think of the consequences. I heard the conspiracy theory that this “voice memo” was actually a recorded conversation. And that maybe the recorded conversation was done without the other person knowing it was being recorded. In California it’s illegal to record someone without them knowing. Which in itself him having it he could get in trouble for that. Also you can’t just turn in a voice memo to the police and they will take action right away. There has to be a victim for there to be a crime unfortunately. If the victim doesn’t come forward then the police hands are tied and nothing they can do. They can make contact with whoever is on the memo and the victim can totally be like “nope not me” and that’s the end of it.

Tati claimed it was clearly a small part of a longer conversation and was worrying but nothing to take to the police (but as stated by the original comment even if it was super serious they can't go to the police on the victims behalf).

Shane has shown in many instances when he says somethings serious and then after a while when the situation isn't in his favor, he backtracks and says he was only joking. Like in that documentary about the behind the scenes of his awful movie. After their first public viewing trial or something, he told his team that he doesn't want to read the notes that the audience wrote about their thoughts on the movie. He said he didn't need it because he watched the reaction of the audience and by what he saw, they enjoyed it.
Of course, that's not the case. The audience hated the movie and it's written in the notes why. Pretty sure he knew that but he just didn't want to read because he can't take criticisms. His team kept convincing him to read it and when he was finally in a disadvantaged position and that the only way to get out there was to read the notes, he told his team something like "why did you take me seriously? I was only joking when i said i didn't want to read the notes" Saying that it was only a joke is an excuse for him to not take accountability for his decisions and actions. That's why when people excuses his racist and pedophilic actions saying it was just a joke you guys, I don't buy it.

My personal theory on the voice memo: it was just another person Jeffree hired/convinced to lie about James, but this person got cold feet or came to his senses before going public with his accusations, leaving this voice note as the only "proof". This person told Jeffree to keep it to himself because he(the unknown person) wanted to keep his name out of the scandal. Jeffree acquiesced because this person would publicly admit the truth if Jeffree outed him, so instead Jeffree used the secrecy to his advantage, because that worked better for him than having yet another accuser retract their story.
We've already been told that the voice memo comes from a relatively well-known youtuber, and either their identity or their acting is what sold it as credible to Blaire.
I expect we'll find out who it is whenever Jeffree implodes.

Anyway, she claims that she has heard from several sources that Jeffree/Shane's MO is to get people drunk/high then have them say/do things whilst under the influence and keep said information as blackmail for future use or as a way to say to that person 'You can't say anything about me because if you do, we release this!'.
Tati kind of alluded to it in her video where she said about how Jeffree had A LOT of info on people and how people had been 'forced' to say things they'd never otherwise say. To me, that could well mean that whatever voice memo Jeffree has about an alleged victim claiming that James abused them could well be someone who was co-erced whilst under the influence to say those things. They are perhaps too scared to come forward because A) Jeffree/Shane have dirt on them and they don't want to be exposed B) Jeffree/Shane threatened to destroy them if they did ever admit what had happened C) Jeffree/Shane told them that they would be HATED if people found out they lied about an assault D) All of the above.

And if we think about what matters most, if this voice memo is real; just imagine the pain and turmoil that victim would be going through during this. to be honest, I never knew that Shane was an OG in youtube, probably known him by name and that's all, only really get to know him when he did his series with Jeffree Star, and I know that a looooooooot of people are on the same boat as me. Not a lot of people have been watching him for that long, and I can assure you most of his stans only know him for his conspiracy videos and "documentaries", so yeah. It was stuff that wasn't hidden but you'd have to dig through a lot videos to find them, and since not a lot of people didn't know about that "phase" well, now everybody is discovering it
In tati’s video she said “there wasn’t enough to go to the police” so I took that as there wasn’t enough evidence on the clip for her to go to the police (ie didn’t know the victim or the time/date). I would have assumed the clip wasn’t nefarious enough to go to the police if she has worded it differently.
Also, the police would tell her that they need to hear from the victim or, of the victim is a minor, a parent.
If a crime did occur, it’s not up to Tati to decide if the evidence will hold up in a court of law. It’s her responsibility to go to the authorities and let them do whatever they want with it.
Mich S but if the clip was of just someone sobbing, or of someone crying and then simply saying “and then he raped me” and that’s it?? You can’t go to the cops based on that. You have no idea who it is, who they were referring to, etc.

It’s up to the cops at that point to see if a crime did occur. she can tell the cops that since jeffree is holding onto evidence of an assault, he’s an accessory. And even if nothing comes of it, or they laugh in her face, she at least has proof she didn’t ignore a possible sexual assault. Don’t play devils advocate for a woman who couldn’t care less about you.
Mich S I am telling you it wouldn’t work bc I tried to go to the cops with screenshots of my attacker after I was raped but bc he didn’t explicitly state in the messages that he himself had raped me they wouldn’t do anything. The messages were too vague and simply “advising” me to be quiet and so the cops wouldn’t pursue it
One other thing to consider is that if the voice memo is credible, J* is waving around an audio clip of someone who was assaulted. If that were me, I would not someone to throw around a clip of my voice discussing a sexual assault that happened to me. That's beyond inconsiderate. He's using someone else's pain to deflect all the bad things he's done. Typical behavior for him though. He needs to go.

I personally don't think it's fair to say that Tati is old enough not to be manipulated. Anyone at any age can be manipulated. A lot of people in emotionally abusive relationships are manipulated every day by their partners/spouses. If Tati was manipulated, then I'm not going to hold that against her because it's a truly awful thing to go through
I completely agree, however, I still think there is some fault on Tatis behalf. After all, even if you are being manipulated, you should still know it's wrong to do that to someone. But it does bring some understanding on her behalf, just not to excuse it completely yk?

In my opinion, I think Alizee mostly MEANS that this cannot be used as an excuse to not take responsibility. Anyone can be manipulated, yes. But an adult cannot just say “oops. I got manipulated. So none of this is my fault.” If their actions led to someone being hurt. You cannot use your gullibility as a free pass, because then where is the line. How does anyone know if that is the truth or if that’s THEIR own manipulation of the events.
I agree with that sentiment, however Id like to also bring in the fact that Shane has chosen to be friends with so many people that are publically known to not be good people and yet he still gets in bad situations with them and acts like he didnt see it coming. Yes, I completely agree with you; anyone at any age can be manipulated because there are sick freaks in the world that can mask themselves as good people very easily, but remember that Shane made friends with Jeffree despite the fact that its well known that Jeffree is a horrible person whos backstabbed most if not all his friends in the past. People were telling Shane to not get in with Jeffree because they knew what was going to happen if he did. Still, he persisted. So I believe that Shane is a special case in this manipulation game, but I agree that Alizee should have worded that better and I disagree with her general statement when put in different situations
