These videos of older Japanese classics makes me chuckle inside 😁 those were cars I worked on in the 70’s as a mechanic. The 510 2 door was the one we all wanted. Always thought it was a great looking sports car. #Remember #PaulNewman #75
It’s all about the environment. The American west coast and southwest has lots of Toyota and Datsun mini trucks from this era still pulling shift work for tradesmen.
I've been following Jun's build as well over the years, it's awesome to see the car spotlighted, as well as the diecast cars. I really do believe he ushered in the era of awesome datsuns in diecast
What a clean bad ass little Datsun! Makes me wish I still had my old Toyo-camino an old ass 1978 Toyota Corolla Wagon. I forget which 4 banger it had, but the freaking head on that sucker was monstrous. That poor car lasted a good 2 and a half years of my early teens. That wagon saw more off road trails, dried out creak beds, tiny woodland trails, open fields, and river side camping then it ever saw asphalt. The latter is how it got it's name of Toyo-camino. As just before 5 of us went out for a weekend camping trip decided how much more convenient the camping trip would be if we had a small truckish type vehicle to come along with my buddy's very pretty Baja SuperBug. As the Baja was only good for one to sleep under the front hood, and if the coolers were set out someone could climb into the bugs rear seat area with a thick sleeping bag and not end up too jacked up the next morning. While the 3 of us left could use the whole rear of the wagon while the seats were folded down, with enough room left over to tailgate in front of the fire, with the Baja pulled up in front of the fire so that whoever had the under the front end clip of the Baja sleeping space could stay nice and toasty. Those were both very tough ass little cars that just hardly ever wasnt up for whatever shenanigans' our little group of asshat teens could ever dream up. Good times. Although, it sure would of been sweet had we known just how much fun a little 4 banger could be when you strap a spinny boy on top. Ah well, none of us were from homes that had any kind of money. So we would of had to steal a butt load of boat props to finance putting any power under the hoods of our cars, we barely kept wheels of any sort under our rears.
I love how he did what he wanted to the car and each piece on it has a special meaning and it just really makes you appreciate how much work he put into this car. This is amazing
❤❤❤❤a turbo ka24 built engine over a sr20 ALL DAY EVERYDAY. Iron block beats aluminum one. I had a turboed ka24 s14 zenki, and paul walker got to drive it when i worked with him in VARSITY BLUES. We chatted lots bout cars as well, back then. He was intrigued that my dad had a hako when i was a kid in japan.
Here in Brazil, we never had any official japanese sports car before opening of imports in 1990, but making a Nissan Frontier with a nice KA24 can be a proper equivalent to a Sílvia or Gazelle with the right shocks, springs and wheels. At least before most of these JDM don't come here, but things will change for better. Frontiers need a rest.
My most favorite car I ever owned was a built KA24DE-T S13 240SX Coupe. That motor was crazy and it made 320whp on 9psi and 400ft/lbs of torque on that setup. The shop that tuned and dynoed it were totally perplexed (PFI, back before their RUclips fame, haha.) But since it was so light, it killed just about everything I raced back in the day, let alone all the SR-Swapped guys. I regret ever selling it. Great memories though.
AKA the 1600 in NZ & Oz, its replacement was call the 180B, As for the best motor for the 510/1600 its obviously the FJ20DET, I think the KA24 was only available for Navara pickup/ute in NZ.
I have 2010 D22 with a KA24. Here in South Africa they are badged NP300/Hardbody. Only found out this year that the KA24 actually gets built and boosted overseas. Mine is just a guzzler and that intake noise is rubbish😂.
Just a small mention of Mario from TSR on the manifold. He's probably built more parts and more high end Datsun 510s than anyone on the planet. Larry should interview him and check out his shop. You could probably spend a week with him and still have more to see and hear. On the note of power, 600hp is way too much for these cars. My 510 "only" made 345whp and I had to roll into 3rd gear to not doing rolling burnouts with 200TW 245 width tires. On track it did great, but on the street you have to manage it. I know they mentioned 9" wheels, but without some wide sticky tires, it's not usable.
Can someone point me in the direction of how to find where this gentleman builds the “hot wheels” versions of cars, or is he just doing it for fun and not for sale? It’s so awesome and I would love to have one of my dad’s cars replicated
I hope this is the guy that baught my Subaru rx turbo sedan viscous lsd 3.7 rear diff. R160 put it online and it sold in 2 hrs flat. Felt like I was digging it on the shipping barely getting it shipped off that day, had no idea it would be so saught after for the 510
I was going to say the wagons never came irs it had a straight axle my mom had a 510 wagon from hawaii. Man i miss that car. I thought he put a 240sx rear sub i never thought he use the 4dr rear subframe
Its a Japanese thing. I love Japanese cars had them all my life but cant stand some off there waked out ideas. Just lucky they didnt screw the oil coolers to the bonnet i suppose 😂😂
This took me back. About 10yrs ago I stumbled upon a YT video I think titled Datsun 1200 in Tokyo/Japan. Nina Simone Feelin good soundtrack. It was creamwhite, static low and sounded amazing. Can't find it anymore though. Wonder if it was copyrighted for the soundtrack.
I never understood pulling the bigger engine to put a smaller more expensive engine made the same power n less torque. KA24de has to be the most underrated motor on the planet
Q chida esta amigo felicidades de todo corazón muy chingona tengo una wagon 720 entera y un día la pienso dejar igual con el mismo motor tengo varios proyectos primeramente dios y se agá para realizar una rodada juntos saludos 😊
There is a flat green 510 wagon with flairs and a jz engine that has been running around the Portland Oregon area since the early 2000’s. for A second I thought this was that car
KA hate is funny yeah it doesn’t rev, but you don’t need to rev everything to 9k to make power, just look at all the new engines, they all have very flat and usable powerbands.

I learned to drive in a 1980 Datsun 510 wagon, then the 1st car I bought was a 79 210 with an A14. Miss them both.
I'm pausing within the first 40 seconds.... it's absolutely perfect, I need it, it's gorgeous, and God those taillights and markers 👌
I have also owned a bc stroked ka24 to a 2.6. It was built and had a solid 500hp.
Love that colour, stunning build.
I love datsuns.... My family owned 210's, I had a 280ZX back in the day. How in the world do these not rust into nothing ?
No snow
It’s all about the environment. The American west coast and southwest has lots of Toyota and Datsun mini trucks from this era still pulling shift work for tradesmen.
My first car was an 83’ turbo 280zx in 2015. Loved that car much.
Makes me want to pick up the 210 I found the other day wagon to
@@Oldhotdogwatermy Bro's first car was a 83 turbo 280z too haha. Makes me wonder 🤔
Love seeing wagons get some love!
One of my favorite cars and I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen one in person! Just painted a a half dozen hot wheels Datsuns!
One of the most recognizable Wagons out there! 🙌 🔥🔥🔥
I've been following Jun's build as well over the years, it's awesome to see the car spotlighted, as well as the diecast cars. I really do believe he ushered in the era of awesome datsuns in diecast
I love the Die Cast models. Super nice quality!
That SSS grill is off the hook 👍

Heck yea love underappreciated engines like the ka24. Its the reason we chose to boost the bmw m52. No one else was doing it.
I love how he did what he wanted to the car and each piece on it has a special meaning and it just really makes you appreciate how much work he put into this car. This is amazing
1986 I owned one, what a shame it's not alive anymore. A sweet one!
👍💪✌
The rear bumper and seamless fender skirts make the whole car!!
Waited months for this video 🤙🏼 love it!!!!!
This is the var that got me into 510s when i saw in Japanese Nostalgic Car way back. I believe it was still "patina" with the roundels on the doors.
LOL it sounds like an ewok riding a tiger. I need that sound in my life! The fact it looks that sick is just a bonus.
The 510 Swagging is out of this world ! The diecast are killer as well.
I love when you do these old school Japanese cars. Please feature more. Thank You 🙏

So clean! Love it. Love those taillights and marker lights.
Love kaido house and definitely will be getting your 240 when it comes out!
I preordered my LC mini GT
I had a Datsun B210 & l loved it. Drunk driver rear-ended me, pushing it into the car in front of me at a red light. Love a 510.
Got that badboy preordered! Love Kaido House in general Jun Imai Is the man as well!!!
She's gorgeous 😍🥰 breathless

Kaido House. Dont think they do commission builds though.
First off I dig wagons but this wagon is ultra cool with its looks and the performance completes the cool.
Finally Datsun content !
Perfect. That's it.
Ka is the better choice for a 510 since the block is last L series design.
More cars like this pls! ❤

I did a 4.44 jdm 5 speed and 06 sti swap.
I was going to say the wagons never came irs it had a straight axle my mom had a 510 wagon from hawaii. Man i miss that car. I thought he put a 240sx rear sub i never thought he use the 4dr rear subframe
ive had a 1970 goon since 2000. ...and i dont see that changing anytime soon. 😎
Never had a Datsun before but what a cool build 😮
Just started collecting Kaido house….Fairlady Z and the R34 hornet so far❤️
The cooler and hoses hanging out the front take away from the iconic front end. Never understood that craze
Its a Japanese thing. I love Japanese cars had them all my life but cant stand some off there waked out ideas. Just lucky they didnt screw the oil coolers to the bonnet i suppose 😂😂
Another ka24de project. No one does single slammer projects anymore. More tourque and what a sound for a 4 banger

our car museum in Launceston Tasmania sells them!! they are fantastic
jimmy o needs that intake on Nissonda ASAP LOL
KA for the win!
My respects to kaido he drives his shit even in the rain
Simply beautiful... One day i'll own a 510 😭
Gorgeous ride
I never understood pulling the bigger engine to put a smaller more expensive engine made the same power n less torque. KA24de has to be the most underrated motor on the planet
Fantastic. ...LOVE your videos Larry
I don’t think this video is about the 510. It was more of Larry’s die cast?
Dope car, but what’s with the rear camber..? Weird.
Sick+clean 510 ever
Waiting for the VIP series Celsior aka LS430 slammed👍
Mad Mike is running 1 of these wagons in Japan this year in formula drift
I love this wagon!!! 😄🙌🏼🤙🏼
Here for the Ka-t❤
Sounds perfect!!
We need more cars 1/64 top top workmanship
This is the 2nd time I saw the 1:64 'Orange Bang' in your video.
.......too bad, mine hasn't arrived yet 😕
You had me at the color
Illuminating
DDDAAAMMMNNN !!! This is NICE NICE NICE
Q chida esta amigo felicidades de todo corazón muy chingona tengo una wagon 720 entera y un día la pienso dejar igual con el mismo motor tengo varios proyectos primeramente dios y se agá para realizar una rodada juntos saludos 😊
sr20ve>ka24de>sr20de
When I was a kid, my friend's mother used this car to deliver goods.
that thing is nice Bro
clean af
Im already hearing the tommy f yeah sr20 purists: its a truck motor bro
Me: so
15:01 Larry, can you start saying sheeesh instead of moaning 😂 thanks 💛
beautiful car

KA>SR
2.4 over 2.0
Iron block vs aluminum
No shortage of parts in US

What Intake manifold is that?
such a dream
Love that ka24 in a 510. Idc what that bald white guy said about those motors😂
A 70's VW EA motor will smoke them both...
KA Torque > SR Torque
Even saying this for so long! The KA is a truck motor and is much stronger.
Love the car, but the cooler lines look sloppy as hell 😢
😍
Woow
If you think that Datsun is crazy. Come check mine out Larry. This thing is nothing but a show pony
I hear that sr is better, but I've also seen good ka24's, too
Sr's got to pricy , think the way to go id KA and slap a turbo on it
that turbo will die in like 3 months 😂
Someone buy my 260z
😌🤌🤌🤌
The rear camber while driving, just looks stupid, and can't be good for anything.
Wow, the car is sooo nice but once you see that awful camber it becomes a clown car.
WowZA! A beautiful beast!
larry chen "mmmmmmmmmmmm"
disco potato
