People need to take advantage of the free tournaments. And if you dont have any free tournaments ask ur ots to have one a week it helps grow the community.
100% agree!!!! My locals does a free tournament monthly actually to get people to come in and they give out a few packs for prizing. It’s less than prizing then a normal locals obviously but it’s a huge help!
If you're like freshly new and starting with nothing, I would get whatever current structures are out and build it. Keep going to locals and learn your opponents. They typically are the same and play the same deck. Learn to counter each deck with handtraps and trade your way to complete the best version of your deck. Sometimes you can even just trade off your sealed ots pack. Once you have the best version of your deck, than start thinking about topping 1st 2nd etc.
my friend pulled a qcr voiceless voice lo and a couple of the voiceless voice ultras from some packs he got and traded the qcr for basically the rest of the deck. now he tops locals regularly and he only spent like $40 on the packs lol
my locals only gives out ots packs as prizing for top 4, so it's a little harder to get the variety of packs but I have seen multiple ultimate rares pulled in the same day so I can see the potential of going plus

Pointless video- if you top you get packs. Not free or guaranteed to win. Not everyone can afford to put that 120 down to be competitive - so unless you can afford the up front it’s a grind. No such thing as free packs
True, but you can argue that applies to any game you play and you want to take advantage of the system as much as possible. Another example is to buy a floowandareeze deck for $20-$25 and top locals here and there and you can easily make that back in 1-2 local tops
If you think about it though, even for video games you have to buy the actual game before you can actually play it competitively and they also make you pay for DLCs.
