Having owned 3 of these, I’ll tell you if you aren’t flying it regularly, you and Steve are gonna be spending a lot of time together. Aerostars do two things really well; burn tons of fuel and break when they sit. You gotta decide where you’re gonna spend your money because it’s going in the gas tanks or the mechanics pocket. That looks like an old 601p. Probably has the S1A 540s in it. Hopefully it’s had the machen conversion to the 350hp motors. If not, you’re not going to enjoy hot days taking off in it. 290hp motors are pretty lethargic in that plane and if you loose one on takeoff it might as well be a single. Make sure you have the electric aux hyd pump system. Most did but I’ve seen some without. Not optional imho. I loved my time flying these. Enjoy. Best luck.
So far I've learned to contort myself into the kidney panels to replace all the fuel hoses, and contort myself behind the panel to pull a broken instrument. Amazing yes, loving working on them is TBD LOL
