@@blackSUAAAVE Nobody could. That is why it is the greatest. Ever seen someone put it so perfectly in a superbowl game winning drive? I don't think so, should be 1st here by quite a margin. Only Ben to Holmes comes close.
@@marinurevic-tomas8109 - Agree to disagree. Eli was more lucky than good. In no other moments in his 16 years of playing was he even CLOSE to doing that again. If you're great, you'll have more instances of great moments. If this wasn't the case, more one hit wonder guys would have more to show than those one hits...i.e. Trent Dilfer, Doug Williams, etc. Eli simply has two moments, where he threw a great pass. One of those, he just winged it to avoid a sack. Let's just leave it what it is.
@@blackSUAAAVE You missed the subject. This is not a discussion on how good Eli was. We are talking about the greatest throws. Eli, who never had the strongest hand btw. gets the ball at his 10 after Brady almost seales the game with 3:42 remaining and down 2. It is a tight game. He snaps the ball, looks right for a moment, switches his sight to left, sees Mario, throws a 50 yard perfect spiral into double coverage on the sideline. It falls into Manninghams hands and he is tackled right after. If he mistimed it by .1 of a second it would not be a catch. That catch changes the momentum of a game, and with Giants needing a field goal it basically seals it. Against the greatest coach and qb ever. Not to mention Bill said make him go to Manningham, cover Cruz and Nicks. And to the best throw and catch to happen right in front of him, was unbeilivable. I could debate you on Elis greatness, but that is not a subject here. Give me one better throw if you can.
kalebpost20 it was both an amazing throw and catch but they gave this to Clark since he jumped so high in the air to CATCH it. Montana threw the ball across his body, with like three defenders about to sack him, while running, having limited vision, and throwing it to a spot where it was possible (like a tiny bullseye).
Was think the same thing, every QB for the Eagles in the past 30 years almost. lol Randall Cunningham> Donovan McNabb> Michael Vick> Nick Foles> to Carson Wentz.
Marie Ferreira they must be on HEAR 👂🏾.....cause we ain’t SEEN anything but interceptions outta that guy....😂😂😂 I kno u were being sarcastic but u see what I did there
That's why they say, "always respect the ones before you that paved the way". Look at the precise talent, IQ and detail in his pass! He threw it like he was shooting a jumper with one hand! Amazing! 1:59
I remember seeing that throw Elway made rolling to his left and throwing it back to the right sideline. We just sort of stood there looking at each other shaking our heads.
Well the idea is the QB throws the ball in a spot where he knows his receiver will be able to adjust and catch it. Sometimes, it's exactly that. Sometimes it's luck. Sometimes it's pure skill by the receiver. Hard to tell sometimes.
They have a hige bias for winning throws so his hail marys are rated super high but that throw and his jaguars throw are easily better. Im suprised at the choices for best farve throws eapecially the one against the lions they used.
Man that throw from Cutler 64yds in the air hitting the receiver in stride was a thing of beauty. It's a shame his heart wasn't in the game cause he could have been one of the great one's
@@theinvictussamaritan4778 I know, I'll never forget that play when he was on the Dolphins where he lined up at receiver I think they were doing like a wildcat player or something but he didn't get set or anything he just stood there with his hands on his hips the entire play didn't even try to block anyone
Manning to Manningham is about as perfectly executed a throw and catch as you could ever have. Eli threw it long and with exact precision to where only his receiver could get it, and Manningham managed to keep both feet in and haul the ball in with two defenders on him. Unreal execution on both sides of the play. The Helmet Catch from 42 is more memorable because it was a miraculous recovery on a broken play and is more magical and luckier in that regard. But in terms of pure execution, Manning to Manningham is about as good as it gets.
LOL, you are so right. How many of these wouldn't be considered catches today.?.? Of course a lot of them wouldn't have to be catches because there would have been penalty flags for pass interference. The league has turned to crap.

Drew Brees makes like 60% of the throws shown on here like 30 times a season. Honestly, a bulk of them weren't that impressive. I was very disappointed to not see him on here more. The times that dude has squeezed a ball into double or triple coverage in the last two minutes of a game
Bro “the catch” is the most overrated play ever. The only thing special about it was the circumstance. It wasn’t a good throw, and Clark made an incredibly routine jumping catch that any 6’4 person who has two hands with five fingers could catch.
I 100% agree, sure Clark had to jump high but that's really the only unique thing about it. Put that throw and catch in a regular season game and it wouldn't even be a top 10 play of the season.
@devildog1982z go to 16:45 and tell me how "the catch" was a better throw or catch without bringing up circumstances. "The catch" isn't special by itself and is only hyped up because it was one of the most important plays in nfl history.
@@bretthulett1985 not really. Dwite Clark had to jump really high, and made the catch. It sent the 49ers to the superbowl. That's why it is so special, but the throw itself wasen't even good. Joe Montana said that he was trying to throw it away, but Dwight Clark just happened to catch it.
Eli Manning has 2 throws in the top 5. That Dude was amazing in those playoff runs. Im a pats fan and I will always have respect for him and the Giants, No matter how low of seasons they have.
Even as a Giants fan, the Helmet catch doesn't belong in the top 5 of all time throws. The scramble and catch were incredible. But the throw itself was the worst part of the play. A lame duck wobbler hail Mary over the middle of the field and Tyree bailed him out. The SB46 throw however could legitimately be #1.
@@RandomGuy285 the Superbowl 46 throw was perfection. That would be Eli's career in a nutshell: a whole lot of wtf with occasional bursts of brilliance. And unfortunately, too, great catches like "The Catch 2" and "The Catch 3" by Owens and Davis (respectively) will pop up just because they are 49er plays. Great plays, no doubt, but none of those plays deserve their title.
@@calhendricks581 It's pretty uncessary to call plays 'The Catch 2' and 'The Catch 3'. And just because they were made in dramatic fashion does not mean those are superior to all other catches.

I definitely agree with ya. Marino was a beast. One of the all time best QBs that ever played in the NFL. It's just to bad he never won a Super Bowl cause he definitely deserved one.
So well done. The music accompanies the action, it is played in the background to enhance the action, the moment of the play, with the voices of the excited announcers and the roar of the crowd. It's not like so many of these vids where the person making the video tries to make the music create the moment. Instead they allow the moment to be what is exciting, making us wish we were there celebrating with everyone. I wish my thumbs were bigger because this gets an absolute thumbs up.
When I read "top 100 throws in NFL history", the first person I thought of was Warren Moon. His passes were like works of art. Aaaaand he's not on here...
@@robertwebster362 I have had the pleasure of having lived during the "passing" era of football and enjoyed watching historical legends play the QB position live. Saw Sonny, Marino, Namath, Moon, Bledsoe, show the world what a quick release looks like. Watched physical beasts like Elway, Favre, Cunningham, Bradshaw, power the football down the field. Admired the amazing field generals, Staubach, Starr, Unitas, Van Broklin, Montana, Brody, Breese. Always amazed at the slickfoot guys, Tarkington, Wilson, Vick,. Having mentioned all this, I would find it a disservice to disparage someone because they made too many appearances. Perhaps it's because that person keeps making incredible throws every game. I have never seen a QB in my life possess the quickest release, the most accurate throws with the tightest spirals consistently, and often under duress in an awkward position as I have witnessed with Aaron Rodgers. I simply have not witnessed a QB that is any more remarkable than he.
It's just when he didn't have his first read he just has to try to make something happen cause he has no progressions. He could have easily looked at his rb and throw it instead of running into his o linemen looking around frantically and then throwing.
It's not an overrated moment in history. however, to still call it the number one throw in NFL history is overrating it at this point. That I can agree on.
100% I agree, and knew before I finished the video that it would be number one, and I think it's just been so overhyped because it took place back in the 80s which is now almost 40 years ago...So it's been very romanticized over the years, and it just doesn't really hold up anymore...But because the play itself received a nickname so long ago, I think it's always going to be treated as one of the greatest plays of all time...At this point in my opinion it should be lucky to make the top 100 throws...But maybe if you want to call it, top 100 throws in the biggest moments, it can moved much higher on that particular list
Montana was throwing it away !!! He deserves zero credit !!! He just threw up there and figured it’s either a TD or 4th and goal. Clark was no where nears the ball. Montana has to HOPE Clark is going to break back to Joe’s right !! If anything it was pure luck. The pure athleticism of the play is at best average !!

i think manning’s throw is one of the most perfect throws on the big stage imo
@David Osborne Manningham throw most likely.
Yeah, it was a great throw, but Eli couldn't do it again if you gave him 100 tries.
These compilations are awesome! I'd remind younger people, these aren't just the 100 greatest throws, but also the most historic.
Best throw in history is from a play nicknamed “The Catch.” Why not nickname it “THE THROW?”
kalebpost20 it was both an amazing throw and catch but they gave this to Clark since he jumped so high in the air to CATCH it. Montana threw the ball across his body, with like three defenders about to sack him, while running, having limited vision, and throwing it to a spot where it was possible (like a tiny bullseye).
Snoop yup 15 yard throw that was a badly thrown ball = best throw ever
That’s exactly what Joe Montana jokingly said it should be called....”The Throw”

Derek Carr’s throw to Michael Crabtree vs the ravens in 2016 was gold!
25% percent of this was throws and not gonna lie the other 75% was the receivers adjustments
Isaac Seattle All off the plays were throws not just 25%. And without the throw there would have never been a catch.
Well the idea is the QB throws the ball in a spot where he knows his receiver will be able to adjust and catch it.
Sometimes, it's exactly that. Sometimes it's luck.
Sometimes it's pure skill by the receiver.
Hard to tell sometimes.
@Issac Seattle: Can you please breakdown the 25% & 75% for us ? 🧐
Insane that Eli Manning to Manningham wasn’t #1. I’ve never seen a better throw
Because nothing is allowed to pass the classicness of the nfl's old favorite plays.
Rodgers to Janis was unreal. 40 sec left back to back 50+ yards both throws made while he was running for his life 😮😮
The best throw I ever seen was a Aaron Rodgers throw against the bears in 2014. it won’t be on here because of a holding penalty 😢😢😢
Facts. These aren't the best throws, just best moments involving a throw
I know which one your are talking about - Rodgers was getting dragged down by possibly two Chicago Bears and hit Davante Adams. That was amazing.
They have a hige bias for winning throws so his hail marys are rated super high but that throw and his jaguars throw are easily better. Im suprised at the choices for best farve throws eapecially the one against the lions they used.

2019- "oh, wait he didn't have control."
LOL, you are so right. How many of these wouldn't be considered catches today.?.?
Of course a lot of them wouldn't have to be catches because there would have been penalty flags for pass interference. The league has turned to crap.

Bro “the catch” is the most overrated play ever. The only thing special about it was the circumstance. It wasn’t a good throw, and Clark made an incredibly routine jumping catch that any 6’4 person who has two hands with five fingers could catch.
At least they won btw im a 48ers fan for life
*49ers*
I 100% agree, sure Clark had to jump high but that's really the only unique thing about it. Put that throw and catch in a regular season game and it wouldn't even be a top 10 play of the season.
@devildog1982z go to 16:45 and tell me how "the catch" was a better throw or catch without bringing up circumstances. "The catch" isn't special by itself and is only hyped up because it was one of the most important plays in nfl history.
