My husband does the pointing finger at the kids! I can’t stand it!! He’s more aware of it now and he’s stopped doing it. I used to do the stopping hand a lot. I’ve got better at catching myself before I do the stop ✋ and can redirect. I’m definitely going to tap on my heart more often! That’s a great idea especially for my kids and my husband. Thank you!
When I am trying to tell my children how much I love them, especially if I have had to meter out punishment, I always put my hands on my heart. I do 'point' when I have to make a point. I point at my children when they are not listening and I am trying to get their attention. I 'chop' when I am trying to 'cut the fat' and specify exactly what needs to be done. Kind of like cutting away all other distractions to concentrate the attention on the specifics. I don't think I 'choke' or 'push'.
