Exactly! The common consensus (for the sake of simplicity I suspect) seems to be that if you're not a dominant Alfa Male then you must be a submissive Beta, and nothing else. Plenty of other personality types out there, including Sigma's.

Yes but people try to make sense of the world using categories and hierarchies. Change sigma for high value man or just as you say a man who has matured into his great potential and yeah there we go. :) It's so rare these days though that people put them into this alluring sigma male status. This is spot on one hundred and ten percent me to the letter. Most of these things i take even beyond the descriptions in this video. This was amazing to learn about though. I had always known of Alpha and Beta Males but never heard anything of Sigmas but knew i was very different from most other Men. My Wife has made so many comments about these things and me as well. These all hit home with me but numbers nine and ten explains a lot for me. Growing up playing sports, i could never stand “pep talks.” They always made me mad. Still makes me mad. I cant stand to even see it in movies. My mindset always was you shouldn’t need a pep talk. You should already be motivated and aware of exactly what needs to be done without anyone having to tell you or pep you up and do it with the utmost proficiency. I also never forget an unreliable/flaky person. Never tolerate bullies in any situation. Never have. Glad i came across this video. It was a learning experience for sure.
I am probably a sigma male because I do not tolerate much of what happens in our country today. I have always blamed this on being in the military (I was drafted) and in Vietnam 69-70 in lieu of too many that avoided the draft or volunteering for service to the US and even leaving the US to avoid being drafted or traced. I now know many who have followed the avoidance in comparing those who agreed to being drafted and have many bad thoughts about their choices vs mine.

The last one (9) is not phrased correctly. Sigmas don't like undisciplined people, not unmotivated people. Motivation is a feeling not an action. Discipline is an action that you do to achieve a goal regardless of whether you feel motivated or not. Motivation is associated with activities you like. Discipline is doing the things you don't like, but do them anyway, because they have a positive impact. So, to all the people who have assessed themselves at 100% or agree with point 9, you are not a Sigma, you can't think for yourself and in the real world if you were applying the Sigma principles you would know that discipline causes success, not motivation. In fact discipline precedes "motivation". By being disciplined you get good results, which then makes you feel motivated and you repeat the discipline. Motivation is fleeting, discipline is permanent. ✅

This is very true. I'm now disabled. My spine is held together with 23 screws and 2 14" rods and l still call out bullies. I have cut ties with the majority of my family due to condensation, disrespect and trust issues. These are all hills l am willing to die on.

I am being pleasantly surprised to see that I don't tolerate any of the things listed in this video. In particular, people who give bad advice, complain all the time, or try to use me or betray my trust get the boot with a quickness. #10 is a particular pet peeve of mine I've experienced a lot from people in San Diego.

My animus is raised when conversing with someone who treats the exchange like a cage fight instead of a wall climb. One is combative to get one up on you instead of dissecting and discussing the subject matter. The person who has to win at all costs is easy to spot. Being a Sigma, I have no tolerance for this kind of person. And the interesting thing is, when I walked away from this person, he had no idea what was wrong. Maintaining behavioural standards and respect is critical in discussions and goes to the character of the person involved. I recently had just such an encounter. I have to be more careful with whom I speak in the future.
Know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em. When I'm presented with a 'rager' ie my boss, if I think there's room to negotiate or highlight an issue, I will. If he's in one of his yelling, chest beating moods, which is often, all reason is lost so I'll continue to smile and walk away. I don't care if he thinks he's won. It's not worth my energy.

I would challenge the use of "respect" and replace it with value. most bosses respect you as an employee because they only care about what you can give them. value sees you and tries to not take advantage of you and is empathetic towards you. if you value your vehicle or partner then you do not take advantage of it or abuse it but rather nurture and take care of it because you want the relationship to last as long as possible. this is something I have learned over the years and have since basically stopped using the term respect. i also believe that sigmas care about showing and being shown value as it nurtures growth and sets boundaries. when you demand value from others and yourself when you say or do something people know you mean business. some will test you to see if you are serious and unfortunately they find out the hard way.

As a sigma male, who has a father that is a narcissist, I finally cut off contact because I di not tolarate that behaviour. 5 years no contact now, zero tolerance.
I believe in these qualities and have always applied them in my life without categorizing them. I just thought this is what everyone should be, and if not then I'll make them comply to the standards. At my age I realized that people are different and they can be whatever they want to be as long as they don't cross the line.

This is very true. I'm now disabled. My spine is held together with 23 screws and 2 14" rods and l still call out bullies. I have cut ties with the majority of my family due to condensation, disrespect and trust issues. These are all hills l am willing to die on.

I am being pleasantly surprised to see that I don't tolerate any of the things listed in this video. In particular, people who give bad advice, complain all the time, or try to use me or betray my trust get the boot with a quickness. #10 is a particular pet peeve of mine I've experienced a lot from people in San Diego.

My animus is raised when conversing with someone who treats the exchange like a cage fight instead of a wall climb. One is combative to get one up on you instead of dissecting and discussing the subject matter. The person who has to win at all costs is easy to spot. Being a Sigma, I have no tolerance for this kind of person. And the interesting thing is, when I walked away from this person, he had no idea what was wrong. Maintaining behavioural standards and respect is critical in discussions and goes to the character of the person involved. I recently had just such an encounter. I have to be more careful with whom I speak in the future.

When I'm presented with a 'rager' ie my boss, if I think there's room to negotiate or highlight an issue, I will. If he's in one of his yelling, chest beating moods, which is often, all reason is lost so I'll continue to smile and walk away. I don't care if he thinks he's won. It's not worth my energy.

@@jessmason2112 I hear ya. The thing is that I can back it up verbally and physically. My boss knows it too. He knows my background. I simply can't be bothered with those that cannot be reasoned with. But yes, if I'm cornered, that's a different story.
I would challenge the use of "respect" and replace it with value. most bosses respect you as an employee because they only care about what you can give them. value sees you and tries to not take advantage of you and is empathetic towards you. if you value your vehicle or partner then you do not take advantage of it or abuse it but rather nurture and take care of it because you want the relationship to last as long as possible.
this is something I have learned over the years and have since basically stopped using the term respect.
i also believe that sigmas care about showing and being shown value as it nurtures growth and sets boundaries. when you demand value from others and yourself when you say or do something people know you mean business. some will test you to see if you are serious and unfortunately they find out the hard way.

As a sigma male, who has a father that is a narcissist, I finally cut off contact because I di not tolarate that behaviour. 5 years no contact now, zero tolerance.
I believe in these qualities and have always applied them in my life without categorizing them. I just thought this is what everyone should be, and if not then I'll make them comply to the standards.
At my age I realized that people are different and they can be whatever they want to be as long as they don't cross the line.
