I can see what Yamaha were thinking, but to me, the bike is screaming out for twin round headlights. I know that they were trying to make it look like a race fairing, but that tiny rectangular LED just isn't right. Thanks for the review.

      Agreed.
Will be interesting to see what Yamaha might do at this model's next major face-lift.

Love the video, I like that you guys are experimenting with bikes you wouldn't typically choose. It's brave stepping out of your comfort zone. I like all of your videos. I have followed you for years. I understand why some people may not have fully understood why you reviewed bikes you knew you wouldn't like. But I admire you for trying something different! There is something there in stepping out of your comfort zone.
Keep up the great work, with the old man back, 100K subs, new project with the V7, its all looking up. I wish you both all the best! You deserve it!
I tell you something I would love to see at some point. A challenge that sets the two of you against one another. I would love to see your competitive sides drawn out for a video. Just a thought 😊.

Apart from a few small nitpicks like the digital screen instead of proper analog gauges I think they nailed the look of this bike! And that triple sounds amazing. But I don't want a bike with this kind of power, I just wouldn't be able to use it properly without putting myself in serious danger, or at the very least put my license in serious danger. My A2 restricted XSR 700 already feels quick enough to be honest! If they make a XSR 700 GP and borrow the suspension and brakes from the R7, that would be my perfect sports bike from Yamaha.

I had bikes that looked like this the first time round and this looks fantastic...who wants practicality in a bike? If you want that buy a car!
The weight on your wrists/arms helps the braking, the weight transfer to the front wheel pushes the tyre into the tarmac.... hence more grip.
Now where's my Yamaha paddock jacket and Nike Air Pegasus trainers... you've got to look the part!
Thanks for showing a beautiful bike off shame that Akra is so quiet ☹️

I’m all agree that Yamaha have nailed it with this one. Good for them. I really don’t appreciate the transformer design they’ve been using lately and that’s the one reason why I don’t ride a MT-10, which is a Yamaha bike that technically is a gem, but that front design and the pirated lights…too much adversity, can’t stand them.

1980's Yammy YZR500 style GP bike colours (Marlboro?) is great, but would love to see an original period bike alongside this tribute! Like with the design of cars, I'd bet a full English breakfast that this tribute is about 50% larger? Air cooling and simpler engineering overall, makes packaging the bike much smaller. Just a thought! Maybe (unlike many other reviewers) when looking at bikes paying homage to earlier machinery, we can see the originals alongside to see how much of the original DNA or "spirit" has been included in the newer bikes?

When the MT range came out I thought oh nice, however they keep redressing the MT range with new coverings. Look at the MT 07, the new tenere 7 is just an MT07 on a change of clothes. The XSR Rane is just the MT range again in another guise. Now this GP900 again is an MT09 like the Tracer . I'm not putting Yamaha down as I do love them, but come on Yamaha give is another good 4 cylinder again like the FZ range. Must admit my best Yamaha I ever had was the MT01, I wonder if they are sticking to 3 cylinders for the euro 5?

Even tho I love the clip-on style I'd skip the GP completely and go for other aftermarket solutions like:
-For modern looks XSR900 fairing kit by Hóo-Bué
-For heritage looks (what the GP should have been) XSR900 with the 900f fairing from velocity moto that actually looks like a rzv500r
Hopefully they addapt those kit's to the GP model

FFS thats pure marketing BS modern trendies just gobble over.. Yamaha fit a great race frame on a bike that fits no class to race.. this.. is what the 700 twin should have been for the super twins mid weight racer class.. ill stick with my faster, quicker retro Thunderace for retro ride days..good review too 👍 cheers 🇳🇿🇳🇿nz

I prefer it with the lower fairing, it's not really my type of bike but I also think it looks good, I'd give one a go!

Super review as per usual. Had a look at one of these at Yamaha the other day. That headlight looks horrendous. Certainly not for me however it’s a motorbike so you gotta have a look. Not sure who this is aimed at. To slow for a sports bike enthusiasts maybe aimed at new sport bike riders however a bit pricey for a youngster. Anyway great review.

This is probably one of the greatest bikes in existence right now (with 2024 KTM 990 Duke) but those machines demand being certain type of a biker you guys are not.

@@EazyDuz18 not sure what cereal you’re buying for £4499 but you’re being ripped off, I love the look of Harley’s but unfortunately I’ve only done a cbt so I haven’t much choice for the bigger Harley/cruiser looking bikes and I really like this channel and like hearing their thoughts on all bikes including the little 125ccs.

I’m fine riding a smaller bike for the time being until circumstances change, as long as that’s ok with you of course?

Don’t like the headlight - not sure who this bike is for and why anyone buys them. Like many people, I had sports bikes at end of 1990s - 2001/2 - R1, Fireblade, ZXR and the most beautiful (but worst ride of the four) - an MVAugusta F4.
I don’t ride those type of bikes anymore, but if I did in 2024 it would not be this - would be S1000RR or Aprilia RSV4 I think.
Trouble is there are too many amazing road bikes that perform as brilliantly as sports bikes and are far more comfortable - like the Multistrada V4.
    Is it for track?

I don't like the headlight either. They should of made it larger like the street retro version than trying to especially hide it to look more like a race bike.
