I played the game since new, and I can't get over my Phobia of the enemy opening attack AKA the " Red Swirl" normal encounters are meant with a brief black n white and a neutral grey or calm teal and just a spooky someone's out there kinda sound. - the Red is violent, fast LOUD, then the sound is Jarring, its loud, taunting it will take a somber moment and is a nasty jumpscare.
I didn’t grow up in the 90s, but my parents always would let me play really old Nintendo games. It was the only ones we really had besides Super Smash Bros. Brawl. When I first started playing EarthBound, I was absolutely terrified of the snakes, and after Buzz Buzz died, I cried, and never played it again..Until a few months ago.

The statue that one dude digged up, he never destroyed it. (I'm not sure if i'm thinking of someone else or if that was Everdred, if it was then beating him up in his fight must've cured him from corruption) That statue must've corrupted some people and wildlife in Onett and still kept Porky under its influence.

The statue itself i guess, is simply meant to amplify these feelings, and it even creates illusions to further the evil thoughts that it implants. The drum break at 0:34 sounds VERY similar to the stage 1 theme from Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. If you remove the melody and only keep the bass and drums, it sounds almost exactly like this
