Just curious on a comment someone made below regarding getting tires changed. I can foresee some damage during the process, is it possible to retouch or do you basically have to start from scratch?
Yes it’s best to take them off while still wet because the dip can bond to them if you wait until they are dry. Unless there is a gap you can see then you can wait for them to dry.
Would have loved to see just how you masked that paper to the rims. I don't see any tape so im not sure just how you got the paper to stay. Looks awesome and im about to do similar to my wheels for a retouch and I don't want to use the dip release this time. I just want to mask it off. I was going to cut some cardboard. Two pieces in semi circles then tape them to the tire behind the rim lip. Or use some excess vinyl wrap in a strip all the way around the tire. But I don't think it will stick to the tire anyway.
TycoTyrannus they are actually just note cards I used to use for school lol. And they sat perfectly still between the wheel and the tire as long as you have no wind they won’t move
Sanding would ruin whatever finish that is under your plasti dip and is not necessary. I’d just make sure the surface is clean and spread light coats until it is all blended in together
@@TruckinTay it's all good..because spray cans are not designed to lay horizontal when you spray and that's how it'll be if you lay the wheels flat. It'll spray and lay unevenly..propping it up means you can hold the can upright how it was designed to be used then it'll lay and spray evenly. Hope that helps
I'm about to do this on Saturday. I have similar center emblems. My rims are similar too. I got a 2015 subaru legacy. I'm hoping they come out as good. How long did it hold up??
Flash card idea, innovative AF! Love how you kept it real and didn’t make it seem like it’s perfect and easy! Good job!
Nice job. I like the flashcard idea I have bad experiences with tape too lol
Nice job dude . How much spray's did u use ?
You should really get black lug nut covers to finish off the job right. Also, step by step would of been nice. Love the masking technique.
How does it hold up with washing your wheels, and touching and handling the wheels?
Not bad if applied properly. I wouldn’t use a pressure washer directly on the edges just to avoid the risk of peeling.
Good job. Good honesty.
How long do you let it dry before putting it back on the car ?
Plastidip suggests 4 hours minimum before putting back on your car.
Good job..
You should mention that the lugnuts are going to mess up your work potentially. Non-marring lug nut socket is a good idea.
Flash card idea was 👍
Take the lug nut and restart it on the stud and pull your wrench off of it. Then screw it off by hand. Wheels look good.
man at least take the wheel caps out so it still has that nice shine to it. and add black screws to blend in better. overall nice look.
Why don't people show the peeling off process? Gotta see every step.
U machine gun kelly's bro?
How long in between sprays to wait ?
It says on the can, generally 5 to 10 min
I have 20 inch wheels,can i make it with 4 cans of plastidip?✌
It’s possible. I’d get a 5th can just to be safe.

Sadly yes. And you most likely would have to peel and re spray.
did you take the paper out whilst it was still wet? or did you wait for them to dry and then take them out?? cheers

Airesol cans are not made to hold or be sprayed when horizontal! Please next time place tires upright for optimal spray efficiency 🙄
Bro where do you buy the black paint and the black handle and how manny did you buy for the whole entire rims ?
You can get everything at Home Depot or Lowe’s. And for these I did one can per wheel. 4 total or 5 if you want a little extra.
Thanks bro
Paint center cover ?

Great video, keep it up TJ
Thank You!!
Here's a tip for ya. Never, ever spray the rims while they're lying down. It will give texture and won't be smooth. They should be 90° of the ground.
Wouldn’t that cause dripping of the product?
@@lizfox1602 not with light coats sprayed evenly
Liz Fox if I am desiring that rougher bedliner type look would it be best to paint it flat down than 90 degrees up?
7:06 just a off the grid question, are your parents from north spain?
awesome job
deboharris789 thank you!
Thanks for the help
Was the 19mm a 6pt? I bet it wasn't....thats your problem
My finish on my rims is starting to flake. Can I plasti dip over it or would I have to sand it before?
Sanding would ruin whatever finish that is under your plasti dip and is not necessary. I’d just make sure the surface is clean and spread light coats until it is all blended in together
gotta spray the lugs too :)
no... you never spray the lugs you buy new ones for $15 on amazon that are black lol
Impressive
Is this the matt or gloss?
This is matte but they do have a glossifyer you can add after applying matte
How much cans did you use for all 4 ??
1 can per wheel
Nice masking idea but biggest mistake was laying the wheels flat..they need to be propped up for best results
Y is that? Not questioning your knowledge i just need some tips

if applied properly they can last years. when you get new tires they will be messed up though.
What happens if you get new tires?
@@johng8161 think a little bit! For christy sakes…. Imagine a tire being removed from the f wheel
This is matt?? I wonder if black gloss plasti dip exists? I never see
Pretty sure you can just use glossy clear coat afterwards
do i need 2 jacks?
1 Jack, 2 Jack Stands
How long do you wait between each coat ?
i saw a different video it said 15 minutes
How much spray I need to paint 4 rims
Drazen Stanic I would say 1 can per wheel
Where did you get that spray attachment?
Doug G any hardware store should have it by their paint cans. I got mine from Walmart
👌
so no one is going to point the 👌symbol he flashed at 3:38?
Where did I ask what you gonna have for lunch?
I'd think he was lying to us if he wasn't telling us he's being honest.
Don’t ever lay the wheels down and spray at that angle.
Use a real jack not one of them widow makers
Use whatever Jack you’ve got .
Lost me when you were painting them flat on the ground
Show all steps!!!!!
Don’t think the bank would like you doing that your their car
Good thing he can just peel it off then.
Just the nuts are garbage? Try the rest of the car!
but the nuts are chrome still
Yeah you put plastic caps on them . You can’t spray the nuts or it will come off when you change a wheel .
Calm down your video intro. It's a bit jolting.
1 tip: Breaking your wheel-bolts… do it with your weight, NOT pulling up.
Bad job .. no prep ..
He washed them at the beginning , it’s called Prep .
