Not making waterproof wheels is simply not acceptable anymore. It's so easy, and cheap to do, and so many riders will ride in the rain. I refuse to buy any wheel that doesn't have waterproofing. This review made me think of the quote from the movie Apollo 13. "What do we have on the spacecraft that is good?"
I’m new to EUC, and I’ve had an S 22 as my first wheel for about a year now. New Jersey United States. About 1500 miles, no breakdowns, just Clark pad, bio pads. Biggest issue I have is the range anxiety I get. About 30 miles of a quick ride, and I’m scared. Other than that , I’m very happy.
Amazing effort to review the wheels man. Big thumbs up :). I know a guy with good old S22 and he has 9000km with no issues. He just bought new sliders with rollers. He is like 70 years and rides appropriately :).
Worth mentioning to any owners. The actual water ingress point you should worry about, is where the LED wires go into the frame just under the front of the motherboard area. Silicone these holes after you take the wheel apart. Get one tube of silicone and it will last you ages and you need some anyway for the motor phase cables.
@@CycleCritic I use clear set silicone and you can get it from Amy hardware store. If you look at the front of the wheel. On either side of the inner area there are wires on either side that go into the battery boxes on the side. Where they go in there is a weak rubber seal that doesn't really do it's job. Whilst the wheel is dry and clean in those areas just paste some silicone over the hole and smush it in, then put some extra over and let it set. When you take the wheel apart you will need to reapply it.
I used liquid electrical tape when I did mine. (The paint-on kind, not actual tape.) I'll watch to see how it holds up over time, but we've always used it on outdoor farm equipment and it's been great so I'm hoping it will work just as well on the wheel.
Definitely agree with you. I've passed 5300km on my S22 (Not Pro) now, a lot of it off road. I'm not a BIG jumper, (just little ones for me) but the tracks are very steep an rocky :) To extend the side pad area I used some 2mm carbon sheet. Less than half the price and stiffer. Keep up the good work Adam 👍
Re batteries, they have good rubber seals, water don't get in there, water resistance around charge ports and button is super easy to fix, it's my winter and rain wheel of choice, great water resistance. Also you dont need new controller if you want the pro motor, just swapping motor is enough. I think your bolts broke because you are riding it pretty extremely with those high jumps to be fair.
Yup, totally agree with all of that stuff. I have my love-hate relationship with that wheel. (as you saw during Halloween meet ;) ) Though, i am continuously abusing it, so probably im not the best measure for reviewing. Nevertheless , i love how this wheel sends. 😁 Fun fact that i have also S18 for much longer and i had zero problems with that wheel so far. 🤪
Its not as simple as just using a higher voltage MOSFET, it might work but it is questionable. One way to protect MOSFETs is by inserting an ESD protection diode between the gate and source terminals generally.
Honestly love my s22, I’m a light rider and can get some mileage not sure when they beefed it up but mine to a decent wreck fine, minor issues of misalignment but it’s running stable, even after some snow riding :)
Love the opening hop up onto the manhole cover! That's what got me watching this video even though all the technical jargon sounds like blah blah and sends my mind into a tangle - yet your unique perspectives and detailed explanations -and video brake downs showing us inside the wheel & continuously demanding higher quality wheels from the manufacturers help keep all of us riders even chill riders like me Safer- Thank You! Ride On!
Despite the use of an impact screwdriver, I cannot recommend loosening without heating to 100°C. You will destroy your head - the inner hexagon. The screws are made of mud.
Great video! Straight to the point. Very comprehensive. And i like the fact that u point out u were hard on the rim, so u cant bash them for it. Thank you much!
Adam I've always been tempted by the S22 but I currently ride the begode ex30, love it too. I don't do jumps but love cross country riding and suspension. I have the kingsong S18 as my messing around euc. Think I'll stick as I am
Yess Adam ! ... veery true ! in all aspects ! All mentioned issues was/are on a program of the "day" ( saying "Hi!" to Ivaylo from MyEwheel... )) and my "patience" with this wheel... BUT ! downhill trails and jumps are amazing !!! I can not see comparable wheel for those right now .
@13:16 my S22 has about 1,000 miles on it and I've done tons of jumps, huge drops, and stairs... but none of my bolts broke. I guess I've been lucky. However, my S22 developed a crazy annoying vibration when riding slow or stopping and I can't figure out how to fix it :(
I’m glad they didn’t! You’re a lightweight though! I would keep an eye on them as they tend to get weaker over time… the shaking is either due to rollers or loose bolts on the motherboard! There has to be something that makes it rattle and shiver! Also glad to see you in the comment section again!
Controller case lid waterproofing is certainly not a good, yes there is a seal but screws are inside of a sealed compartment. BAD thing is that the lid screw heads are in cavities without any kind of seal and screws go through the motherboard. When it is raining water will be pushed under the seat to the cavities and water might seep from there directly on the motherboard. Quick fix is to put tape on the cavities and add silicon to plug two mid screw holes on the controller lid which are holding the red plastic piece on the top. The lid is also bit flimsy and there are too few screws for sealing, so I filled the seal groove with silicone grease. All the other holes and gaps under the controller box I siliconed and I added tape and silicone grease under the power knob. Also light wires pass through should be siliconed. Pedals (IMO) are actually pretty good, they are lightweight and knobs/studs can be sharpened with angle grinder or dremel.
Thanks for the review , I have the same experiences, bearings loose, bolts loose and broken, but jumps like a breeze. I also experienced peddle dip when speeding and hard lean from 50 tot 70, its dangerous. But for grass racing its perfect ( max 50).
If only it had a better trolley handle, a bit more range, better peddles, better siders, higher torque and a higher top speed then it would be.......... a different wheel
Great review, but having a few riding scenes would surely sweeten it, ngl. Thanks for adding the warranty aspect. 6000km is absolutely nothing if that is your daily commute.
Thank you for being honest, i think you just talked me into the v14, i dont need to do shibby jumps just cool little jumps and gaps. Just wish it was not as heavy
Have owned s22 for one season approx 2000 km and I generally agree with this review. Spot on for the most part. However despite all the issues, I love this wheel and feel this review helps riders understand the issues and have a better experience with this wheel.

It can begin to shake aggressively when braking, It is an issue that is showing to be pretty consistent right now. I used to off road mine, that's what I got the POS for. I ride in the mountains and I needed to do full maintenance every 600km it was every week and a half to 2 weeks. It's such a POS. I no longer off road
You can probably make this review in one sentence: WHEN it works, then its one of the best wheels ever, there is just this one problem: It so seldomly works? Two sentences? ok….
After reading comments, the amount of money you pay to buy These wheels, 6hose probs should Not exist. It's just shoddy workmanship. Car or bike Manufacturers who don't pay attention to detail will soon be out of business. So to euc companies. Their is always going to be maintainance but no waterproofing, Cheep bolts and screws, questionable electronics. Come on kingsong, you have a loyal Customer base don't ruin it With that kind of workmanship. Having a rant here and I'm not Even a rider.😆😎
I'm just under 8k km. This is the murder of this hobbie. This wheel is enough a reason to avoid this company entirely. Non-stop problems, money sink. Non-stop repairs. I'm all for innovation, and companies trying new things, I mean kingsong did bring us all suspension to EUCs and was much needed. Sure everyone been trying different methods to find the best one.... but to continue this failed rail trash design on further models should tell users all they need to know. The are currently on their 3rd motor manufacturer. I am 3 motors in and willing to bet the bearing are probably still 1500km max range. Do not ride in rain, I did once very light rain for only 5 minutes and the bearings ceased that night. The board I always scared was going to blow on me as it did on many others, somehow mine has survived. The materials they use is inexcusable at the price point. Those plastic dipped chrome plated ikea quality fixtures on the suspension is a joke. You must spend money on farings, pads, cnc rollers, extra 420 wheels for replacements every 600km. This is such a POS I could go on but it's to infuriating. Absolutely trash!
We should all protest and refuse to buy off these companies until they sort this out .they are getting away with criminal pertentionaly cheating us the buyer .
I agree, the s22 was very disappointing hot trash... I have a few friends with them and I ride with them on my sherm S. 3 break downs for them, 2 required and Uber home. 3.5k on my sherm S... couldn't be happier. Very very glad n I didn't swallow then kingsong "Pheonix" hype that I originally wanted. RIP kinsong. Even after you spend a few 100 upgrading , you still are stuck with a piece of SHYT...
S22 Pro Revision 2 would be nice wheel if the manufactured fixed alot of the fixable issues. Sure is a project wheel and does require alot of after sales work to make it better to what it should have been from the factory.
I will never buy from them. Horrible R and D and they don’t care if you as a buyer have to pay for their negligence. Either with your wallet or your body during a failure.
Suspension trunions should always be ballraced like they are on mountain bikes. Even oil lite/sintered bronze plain bearings whilst not ideal are better than nothing. Nothing is an abomination and a design mistake. These things are treated like cheap kids bikes by some of these manufacturers. I wish an EUC company would fly me out to China so I could give their designers some pointers. I’d even go as far as using stainless bearings that won’t rust and then pit over time.

MOSFET fault modes, over-voltage is definitely one of them, along with over heating and voltage transients (dv/dt).
You can buy battery shrink wrap for very cheap and do it. Though you are right the manufacturer should just do it as it is so easy and cheap.

The new leaperkim Lynx have the same weight as v14 correct? But 20" sure have advantages on the stability and speed(150v vs 134v)

Pure nightmare. S18 and s22 owner. 8k km on the s22, 5k km on the s18. Avoid kingsong
Have you seen bolt kits in Europe?
Not yet but I think some will be produced soon. Stay tuned!
Did Begode buy Kingsong?
What kind of front pad is that?
Top is stock NyloNove Kinetic, bottom is a custom one they made for me
Want the bottom white pad
Won’t move and can jump up
5:27 Rim badly bent. Can cause water ingress
That RIM!!!!!
S22 with upgraded batteries. Right? So it’s basically putting lipstick on a pig. Pass.
After reading comments, the amount of money you pay to buy
These wheels, 6hose probs should
Not exist. It's just shoddy workmanship. Car or bike
Manufacturers who don't pay attention to detail will soon be out of business. So to euc companies.
Their is always going to be maintainance but no waterproofing,
Cheep bolts and screws, questionable electronics.
Come on kingsong, you have a loyal
Customer base don't ruin it
With that kind of workmanship.
Having a rant here and I'm not
Even a rider.😆😎
Is this Lucas from eevee’s?
No this is Patrick
I 've KS 18xl and KS 22. I will never, ever buy KS products again.
Imagine they moved away from axle for bearings and bolts that dont move. Upgrades they say
We should all protest and refuse to buy off these companies until they sort this out .they are getting away with criminal pertentionaly cheating us the buyer .
Stop watching the videos too then
absolutely ridiculous not to even attempt waterproofing in something so expensive
I notice the rim is dented opps
If those were to be skateboard bearings..DO NOT get bonezzzzzz. They are way.to rough...peace
Wait a long time this review and did pay off. What did we learn? Do no buy any wheel before seeing Adam's full review.
Are you talking about the s20 or s22 or s22 pro? Lol 😆
You're comparing it with the most expensive premium EUC in the world. Of course the Sherman S is better, but we can't all afford one.
Sold, on not buying this one.... i know ill get caught in the rain from time to time.....Hard PASS...
Those look like skateboard bearings..
custommer beta tests hire we go again

Suspension trunions should always be ballraced like they are on mountain bikes. Even oil lite/sintered bronze plain bearings whilst not ideal are better than nothing. Nothing is an abomination and a design mistake. These things are treated like cheap kids bikes by some of these manufacturers.
I wish an EUC company would fly me out to China so I could give their designers some pointers.
I’d even go as far as using stainless bearings that won’t rust and then pit over time.
I know right.
KS18XL, KS16X was the last good wheels from Kingsong, all after piece of sh1t
Great info, but needed a camel toe
Pierwszy😂😂😂
Brawo! :)
first 😎
I liked wrong way better when he dressed up in womans leggings and put on womans makeup for his videos...
He's known as the "freak" of euc RUclipsrs
Don’t worry I’ll paint my fingernails again
why would shibby_time not get aftermarket things? if there was ever a guy to justify the purchases he was it
