She is a canonized saint by the One and Only Church of Christ, so yes, she is a saint. Also, i fon't know if this movie shows what actually happaned, but she was arrested and condemned by an english court that was excominucated by the Pope just after because of ehat they did, she was killed by her enemies in the war, died for the Church, died for the Truth, died for God. She is a Martyr, a Saint.

This is correct ! The Catholic Church was not interested in a ''screaming'' and ''turmoil '' event during an execution by fire in the Medieval era ! Usually the flames would be controlled and a huge amount of smoke was produced from straw, which was tightly packed under wooden structure .
      In the event that the flames would have reached the convict, the executioner had three methods to quickly end the life of the condemned man or woman ;
      an arrow to the heart
or a long rope which was attached to the neck of the condemned
lastly , for the men, a blackpowder pouch with metal pieces attached to the waist of the sentenced person !
Impossible to really know the amount of individuals who were burned at the stake during the Medieval area in Europe...possibly from 10,500 to 20,000 !

This will always be my Joan of Arc movie. Sobieski in my mind casts the almost perfect simple farm girl yet passinatly driven by love of God and Country.
This may not be the most historically accurate movie but it hits all the major story beats and hits them very well.

The Messenger is far more realistic in every way. While this movie is more accurate on timing and line of events, it absolutely failed to portray the reality and brutality of medieval Europe. It's a Disneyfied version of 100 years war where characters behave like it's Hallmark's soap opera and battles look less intense than pillow fight.

Do people in the comment section not realize that Joan of Arc is recognized as a saint? A lot of you need to do some further research on her, she was visited by Archangel Micheal. sadly, I have to disagree with you comment, since the
Passion of Joan of Arc" film was fairly controversial at the time and was cut by numerous French censors !!
The famous trial transcript in Latin, were rewritten nearly two years after 1431 ,
was manipulated with the years and even a few versions does exists.
For example, they are three different stories how Jehanne obtained the Fierbois' swords...
...which one is the correct version ?
The famous cross-dressing story is more and more popular today !
Jehanne was wearing full armor and a dress at the court !
In the tower of Rouen, an English tailor was requested by the English aristocracy to provided Jehanne a new attire.. there was no controversy or quarrel !
Jehanne la Pucelle was above all accused of heresy !
The inculpation or the verdict of heresy was most important
since this trial was mostly to discredit Charles VII.
      It was a political trial.
Since Charles had used the help, the service of an ''heretic'',
an evil-entity, the English aristocracy were convinced that Charles' coronation should be rendered invalid !
Later, Charles' advisers suggested to Charles VII that Jehanne should be '' reinstated...
      She was in 1456.
And, the rehabilitation trial produced the desired result,
it was a cunning political move from the Valois Royal family,
shutting down the English aristocracy political attempt....

please tell why I should '' correct the ages'' ... ... you mentioned in your previous comment that Jehanne la Pucelle was 19 when she died, which then would indicates that she left for France, at the age of 16 which is certainly a dilemma !
In 1428, Jehanne was by herself, without the permission of her father , travelling to the independent Duchy of Lorraine, Holy Germanic Empire, from her Barrois region to the city of Tull ( Toul, today ) at the Ecumenical council from the Diocese of Metz to annul a marriage promise her father had accepted a few year earlier. At that time at the age of maturity which was 20, a woman could present at the ecumenical court a challenge. The Bishop of Metz mentioned she was successful and the fiancé was not happy ! ( She had met René d'Anjou at Nancey ! )
Also, at 20, a year before she left for France. in Nancey, 1428, Jehanne being already well-known was invited by the Duke of Lorraine, Charles II and his wife Margarete von der Pfalz, since the Duke was in need of help, he had health issues.
She was also invited to ''run a lance'' in the afternoon.
She said to the duke she had no divine or magical powers, she couldn't be of help however she said that his medical problems were from his liaison with his mistress Alyson du May.
At the Rehabilitation Trial 1450/51, Jehanne' age was changed, a younger girl , a very young virgin was most important to Charles VII to challenge the English aristocracy .
      It's still works today !

Okay so I see people a bit confused. So she was captured by the Burgundians, and then was sold to the English, and in turn was tried for heresy, she was found guilty of heresy, but if she confessed, then they would let her live in the church, but still in captivity. She then confessed. And was forced into a dress. I’m not sure if it’s because she was assaulted or anything like that, but she switched back into the men’s clothes and then they burned her because “once a sinner as returned to their sinful ways they cannot be saved”

While the details varies, the contemporary eyewitness accounts agrees that she indeed cried out for Jesus.
The account that the scene in the clip is obviously based upon, is the following, which can also be found in the biography _'Jeanne D'Arc: Her Life And Death'_ by Margaret Oliphant:
_“Being in the flame her voice never ceased repeating in a loud voice the holy name of Jesus, and invoking without cease the saints of paradise, she gave up her spirit, bowing her head and saying the name of Jesus in sign of the fervour of her faith.”"_

There were no contemporary eyewitnesses .
      The last moments are unknown.
The general population was not allowed near
the old market place in Rouen, only Burgundian soldiers,
      a few hundred of them.
The Rouen' market place was outside the city walls in 1431, no houses around, mainly grazing grass fields for the farm animals as the farmers of the area were selling their produce.
