Preaching to the choir. Ive been victim of the misconception that cause I stutter I must be stupid or I'm not as intelligent as somebody else. Respect is hard enough to get from people in general but when you stutter it's a 100X harder.

True, Minka. Very true! But, and don't get me wrong here, you have at least 3 things going for you: 1. you are married and you can talk to hour husband 2. you're quite pretty and that makes it a lot easier for people to like you (psychology: the Halo-effect) 3. judging from your video's you have only a slight stutter. Image being single, bald, overweight, floppy ears, 1 glass eye, false teeth, walking with a limp, with a heavy stutter... ;-)

Does anyone notice they stutter less if they talk in an accent or a cartoon charectors voice?

How did the marines accept you, having an anxiety disorder/nervous condition? I'm a moderately severe stutterer from New Jersey, living in a small town in Kansas for 30 years, and I've been treated worse and worse as I got into my late thirties and into my forties. I never got a promotion working at my factory job, had my wages and bonuses cut, and have absolutely no friends plus my family from back east has nothing to do with me. Is there any way for me to contact you for your advice? Can you believe that I have an older brother who stutters almost as badly as I do, and he became a traditional catholic priest (SSPX), refusing to visit me since 2008? My arrogant , italian dad-also a raging and paranoid religious fanatic- forced me to return back out here in 1992, after attending a traditional catholic college where I didn't do well academically, getting quite a few terrible grades with several subjects that I struggled with... as well as being too shy and not confident enough to speak in front of the classes when we gave oral reports. My dad sent me back out here with no job skills, and my own car to drive out here with, because he hated me, not being able to stand me being around due to my speech problem, and because I was too quiet and phlegmatic/unmotivated, not able to function and have initiative to function in society to get ahead to get a respectable job, and unable to drive there comfortably owing to my nervous panicking, and because of the cutthoat ratrace. Now I'm forced to remain at the same factory job for the rest of my life with no retirement benefits, and where I'm looked down on and treated contemtibly with rude, patronizing coworkers and bosses, not only never getting one promotion, but also where my wages and bonuses were cut in lowdown, cruel way by the owner. I have to endure terrible, chronic neck and back pain daily, doing really hard manual labor, while my health problems will gradually get worse being over 50 years old.

Just think about when trying to talk, your head shakes out of control like you’re having some kind of fit and you get this weird look on your face. I’m 66 years old and it still really bothers me. I would love to be as fluent as you. Keep your spirits up and thanks for telling your story.
