A lot of people dont get that this song is about surrounding yourself with those who will help you out of your depression together rather than not move foward at all and instead always talk about how bad it all is but not do anything to change. This happened to me and though you love them, its like theres none of them left to love. It proves to be very toxic and theyre great people, but i much prefer to hang out with a crowd that doesnt drag me down with them.

I think on one hand, it can be from a personal POV, and be describing a toxic crowd.
I also think that, on another hand, it can be from a judgemental, mocking outsider POV.
uhhh...stop. Use your brain. If your crew is doing something wrong, rationally wrong, then let them know. If they dont listen help or use tactics to get out of it. But stick with them, it builds character, after all they are human beings too. WE all make mistakes or do things wrongly.
And friends like making jokes and making fun of each other, thats what GOOD and CLOSE friend do. And please, always look at people below you, or even things less sentient than you. Like hearing the crickets chirp, the water falling in the rain, or seeing the conditions that people live in the Middle East - maybe that may make you appreciate you life more and mottivate you to uplift yourself instead of relying on have a group that "uplifts" you.

the thing is. when i first saw the make a move video i was like "who the hell are these creeps" however after listening i was like "who the hell are these creeps, and why didnt i found them sooner?" the last time i judged a band wrong by their appearance was wasp. which ironically turned out to be my favorite band of all time

I found them yesterday, yeah I've missed alot.
Found this band when I was 15 and now at 25 this song is still so incredible but with a new meaning added to it. I've been battling depression/anxiety all my life and addiction for 5 years and I've nearly died multiple times and had many ER/hospital visits that I finally went to rehab. Almost 80 days sober, it's 3 am, and this song is helping to remind me why I'm still fighting.
I've had a terrible habit of being in and out of psych wards. It was always the same. I go in claiming to need help, I leave claiming that I feel better, I get out patient help, take my meds for a while, then at some point I start forgetting to take them, everything goes to shit and I end up back in the hospital. For me, this song is like me speaking to myself. I truly meant it when I said that I want to get better. The last time I left the hospital, I told this really nice nurse that the only way I would step foot on this ward again would either be in handcuffs or nurse scrubs. Thanks to this song, I have made true on that promise. It's been almost two years since I was last hospitalized. Thank you, Icon For Hire!

Similar here, except it helped me get through the last few months. The chorus is written in my journal from the hospital. I belted it off key and without music while I paced in the hall, went to line up for chow, and between groups. This song was my anthem for the past 7 months.
My best friend sent me this song years ago. I don't know if he just liked it or if the meaning hit him as deeply as it hit me when I first heard it. I've struggled with mental health my whole life - and I'm finally seriously getting better and seeing differences. It's not easy. Breaking the cycles is difficult, but worth it. I just confronted a family member who has narcissistic traits and stood up for myself. This is a major step for me, as I've always had confidence issues and severe anxiety. I advised her to get help and I truly hope she does. She says she will. I thought of this song and had to come listen to it.
Anyone who needs to see this: It is possible. Life can get better. Please save yourself.

uhm well...its kinda complicated but mainly it has to do with psychological trauma due to emotional abuse/neglect during my childhood days.... generally ptsd is caused due to some sort of traumatic event.

This is my first time listening to this band, there ok
I have to say that your music helped me through hard times when I was in and out of the hospital trying to cope with my mental illness. I have bipolar manic depression, ADD and senithasia which allows me to see colors whenever I hear music which is somewhat distracting when I'm trying to work. I'm great ful to know that there is someone out there that knows exactly what it's like to go through life dealing with internal conflict that no one else can understand. Thank you icon for hire for putting into words what I couldn't express.

They even say in that quote that if they "follow the way of a typical Christian band". This implies that they are indeed Christian, but are not following a path laid before them. I only discovered this band less than a year ago but I've been listening to them nonstop ever since - awesome band and Ariel Bloomer has the best name of any lead singer in any rock band period.

This song has become even more relevant with time
I really appreciate this band and especially this song. It helped me realize making myself miserable on purpose even when I didn’t have to and hurting myself repeatedly would only get myself deeper into a hole that would only end with me in a grave. I come back to listen to their music sometimes just to remind myself where I should be and that I shouldn’t let myself ever get that bad again. I hope everyone realizes there’s always hope and despite how fuckin horrible it can get, there’s something waiting for you in the future. Why not live to see it?

Edit: 2024 now and I'm still here, thank you, RUclips for recommending me this masterpiece again, i still love it so much. And of course the lyrics hit differently now, then in childhood and even more different thaqn a year ago when this comment was originally written.
