- Anyone who is into good city builder games knows about the crown jewel of sc3k cities, Magnasanti by Imperar Omnika. Completed in 2009 this Sim City 3000 city has a population of over 6million all achieved using pure skill and dedication. This record has yet to be beaten without cheats as far as I know. The original video showcasing the city was removed and the only versions on youtube now are reuploads. Many of the original screenshots of the city are also lost due to various websites going down over time. Omnika stated he had plans to reupload everything, and even make a new video for Magnasanti but he never got around to it.
This video is a partial remake of his original video showcasing the city. I have decided to remove many of the city statistics in favor of more high resolution footage of the cities themselves, but I tried to keep mostly true to the timings of the original video. I either remade or upscaled as much as possible, which for sc3k images is next to impossible. no AI tech produces a decent upscale on these kinds of images (you could train an ai on sc3k cities though and it would work im sure).
The main reason I made this video was because I was watching the original video again after hearing a song that reminded me of the 2nd song in the original video (which i still haven't found the name of) and thought, man I would love to make some desktop wallpapers of this city. Well I downloaded the original save file and did exactly that. I then got the idea to make a showcase video for the city in 4k, it was never going to be a remake of it just some glamor shots of the one city set to some sc3k music. But soon I fell down the rabbit hole of trying to find the original image archive (magnasanti.rar) and eventually came to a new purpose for this whole ordeal; archival. I realized that this work of art is almost lost to time with the only existing and easily accessible record of it being the original video reupload. MANY SUCH CASES! Not only in sc3k but in almost all games with community made content. So I have put together an archive, hosted on a platform that will hopefully be around for a long time (say that to megaupload LOL) that contains as many of the original images I could find. This also contains save files for many of Omnika's cities, including the matrix series and a few others. The archive also contains all of my super high res screenshots of some of the cities, however only Magnasanti's is made at 2x zoom(2nd from closest in game) coming in at a resolution of 17919x10385. Also included are my remade red on white grid patterns, the wallpaper im using on my computers now (wow i finally changed it?) all totaling around 130mb.

I always find myself coming back to the magnasanti video for its spectacular use of the music, building up this almost psychotic obsession with scans of papers covered in calculations scribbled in pencil. As well as the second part, when the project is finished...but then that is surpassed by another! And then the true final masterwork is revealed in all its glory!! Just a splendid video all around and it’s fun to show to people for the first time since it’s very self explanatory. Thank you so much for your efforts to archive as much as you can, I’ve often worried the video might vanish one day and I’d be unable to find it again. May Magnasanti shall live on for many years to come....

This is an amazing tribute to one of my favorite modern art projects of all time. Huge thanks for putting that archive together, it feels like getting a 10th anniversary special edition release of the video! Cheers to media preservation :)

appreciate the work.
that being said, i personally prefer the style of the original video. there is a sense of machiavellian menace that is not just reflected in the music, but in the filmmaking itself. the statistics and how they are presented play a significant role in it, both as a haughty brag, but also as a dark warning to the world of what evils would befall us should we follow in the game's philosophies as peddled. i don't think most people latched onto the original video just because the city looked cool, but because of its storytelling. it gave the normies a taste of cosmic dread.
anyway, honestly no insult if you enjoy the project for purely visual aesthetics. it is a legitimate, valid reason to like it. not tearing you down. it's just not what i'm here for.
tl;dr i would personally like to see an HD remake that follows the original video's editing more closely
Hard agree. Not seeing the off-kilter, rotated titles between scenes was disappointing. It's the missing little details that really make this an inferior remake. Increased clarity and correctness strips away the scale and dread.

The second part is called "The Inner World", it was a soundtrack given to me by someone under the handle "RepeaterMan" back in 2009 when Google Videos still existed. I originally stumbled across the "song" from one of his videos but it was a 2 minute 8 second version ( ruclips.net/video/14ZdBZJgDaY/видео.html ). The original piece was 4 minutes 17 seconds long.
I had a conversation with him back then (Google Videos had an inbox feature) where I asked the same question, and he claimed to have improvised in making it, but I have no idea if he sampled it from some other primary source (the date on the music file seems to suggest it was made in 2001). Unfortunately I didn't take a screenshot of the original conversation, and the YT inbox feature has long since ceased to exist so I don't know if there is an easy way to contact him directly. I don't know if he is still around to ask him, but you can try (his last video upload was 3 years ago).
When people started migrating over from Google Videos to RUclips, new channels had to be made with all previous videos now transfered to YT, but the new upload dates on transfered videos no longer reflected the true synchronicity of events (August 20, 2012, was when Google Videos ultimately shut down). So his "Hidden Messages" video appears as being uploaded much later on May 2012, but it was originally uploaded to Google Videos much earlier than that (I uploaded my Magnasanti video back in March 2009, so his video would've pre-dated this).
Anyway, I've uploaded the 4 minute version to my channel ( ruclips.net/video/MsKcCopRmqc/видео.html ) if anyone is interested in listening to the piece in its complete form (before it gets taken down). Thought I'd at least unravel part of a decade-long rabbit-hole mystery.
Edit: Did some extra digging using The Wayback Machine and the RUclipsr RepeaterMan does in fact have a separate channel ( web.archive.org/web/20090805190131/ruclips.net/user/RepeaterMan ) which still exists and has existed before 2012 and if you scroll down his page you can see a comment confirming his video that supposedly contains the song was indeed uploaded on there, either before or on 2009. Today all his videos appear to be private or deleted. There is also a link to his blogspot as well so there might be some chance to contact him through that.
