Truth about HIGH PURITY GOLD and why jewelers are not being honest with you...

- There's little positive information regarding higher purity gold jewelry (18KT/22KT) available. We took a gamble years ago by bringing in 22KT 3MM diamond cut Franco chains and it was a huge hit! Lately we've been trying to make more content as well as bring in more 22KT items. I do think understanding and being comfortable is extremely important when purchasing a high ticket item. Drop a comment down below if you have a question regarding 22KT jewelry. Thanks for watching!

If y’all want high purity Jewelry go to Asia, you’ll pay melt + a very small fee 10% or less.
Higher purity is really the way to go majority of the time. The richer gold color from 18k or greater screams prestige. Keep in mind though, when it comes to having stones eg diamonds in rings or other types of gold jewelry, 18k is honestly the highest purity a person should go with; anything greater in purity will not hold the stone very well because it is too soft.
That's the only positive to high purity gold people think they are the sh!t wearing 22kt, losing diamonds.
Good lol.
You broke that down right ❗️
You broke if it not 22 k
@@dannygreen5477 Guess what clown? Losing a diamond to me, is another excuse to buy 10 more peasant. I rock ONLY 24k personally, but I understand being a little light in the wallet is your standard hahaha. Man, I love my life, I literally burned money out of boredom at a party to show off.
@@vision821k4 you can definitely share some with me... I would love to get a few chains and get my truck build done... and pay some bills...😋
When i first started buying gold i also though people cared about the purity and golds color but after a while i came to realize the truth and that is the simple fact that most people buy gold because they want to appear flashy and want just that, flash. People want their gold to refract light optimally so even if it's just a 10k hollow chain if it is cut right, they still get that bling bling effect and will be just as happy as if it was 24k. Thats what they truly care about how it catches and holds light. Reminds me of the old saying, "All that glitters is not gold"
But it still is lol
So basically you learned people want their jewelry to shine the best it can. You must have graduated at the top of your class buddy, all this insight.
Another great “ Keeping it real video” ! I couldn’t agree more with your commentary regarding the lacking of higher purity gold options in retail stores. I too appreciate the higher gold content in my jewelry. I wish you offered more. I am constantly looking through your inventory for the higher gold content options. Please add more. Thank again for your great content.
Dude your stuff is so educational, I love it, will def be looking at your site for jewelry soon
All I can say is thank you for this video. You guys are awesome at jacoje! Highly appreciated!
Everything about gold is easier to understand when it comes to Jacoje 👊🏽
Keep it up 👍
Great video and even greater information keep up the hard work I know it’s not easy doing what you do!!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Im so blessed to have come across Jacoje way before ever buying a chain from a brick and mortar jewelry store. The quality is incomparable!… I love these informational review videos you put out!
if youve never purchased a chain from a brick and mortar then how can you say the quality is incomparable? You mean its incomparable because you dont have anything to compare? Simple minds........
@@crli4353 just because i havent bought one elsewhere does not mean i havent had to chance to compare them to other pieces from friends and family. “Simple minds…….” Think a little before speaking. Thanks. May God bless you and protect you.

Hah, I live a boring life too, Braden! Love Jacoje, appreciate my pieces from you guys, and I'd love to move into higher purity as my journey (and budget, and wife!) allows. Thanks for the side-by-sides, you can really see the color difference the higher purity makes. You guys rock! 👊🏻🔥
Thanks,

Love you Braden. Keep bringing the knowledge!
Never stop putting in the work Braden, I bought a 14k 5mm figaro bracelet for myself from yall when i was 16 in 2018. Then I bought a 14k 7mm Miami cuban link at 20, and now im eyeing a 5mm yatch link, maybe next year i can get something 18k or even 22k would be such a big goal for myself ✊🏽. Thank you for providing such a good service and not being like big store jewelers, never can go wrong with Jacoje!
Something that never gets mentioned (even by you) is the markup and price over spot. My observations have shown that you almost always get lower mark-up and closer to spot prices with higher purity gold jewelry. I wrote a calculator that provides this information based on a few variables and I've used it on many different retailers including jacoje.
So what does this mean? You're going to be able to get a better deal when you buy higher purity jewelry. This also means that the profit margins for jewelry shops are lower on higher purity gold, which is why they love to sell 10k and 14k, because they make more money on it.
22k is a beautiful color
Thanks for this knowledge Braden you rock
Love this video my dude, love both my flat curbs I got from you! Need to up my karat next purchase
This is so true. My grandma has a 21kt chain she got 70 years ago and it still shines like the first day. I worked out in it and showered with it and it’s been absolutely perfect. Unfortunately the myth of it being “too soft” for daily wear is believed by many. You never see anyone that wears high purity make comments like that because it’s not true lol. Great video!
My 24k bent not gonna lie to you 😂

@@geehoward3779 I can see how people wouldn’t want to wear 24k rings but I’d still be down😂

Your absolutely right tho. I think it comes from people with like10-14k who want to justify why they got what they got lol and like man, that’s fine too. Butttt like it’s really not true. And if your in the same room together people are gonna think he’s wearing silver lol
@@melissanacional9662 that’s about the only thing. I love all the higher purity jewelry 18-24 but rings 24k is definitely sketch, I mean it is the softest. And yea you can take care of any purity but a ring? Mehhhh maybe
Yes Braden. I've been watching your reviews for sometime and it is my intention to one day pick up a fine piece of jewellery from you.
Love my Jacoje pieces. Got a 5mm rope and two Cuban bracelets 5mm and 6mm. Can’t wait to get me a 18k chain from you next 🔥
Love you man been watching for yearsssssssssss
I wear a 22kt 3mm diamond cut Franco everyday. I never take it off not even to shower and I work construction and play basketball with it and never take it off. Jacoje chains are durable and I recommend it.. my next chain is gonna be a diamond cut 22kt 4mm rope for sure
Hey man did you get the rope yet?
22k or 90% gold is perfectly acceptable and I’d say desirable for wearing. Reason being that karat is crown gold which was used in coinage for centuries, 22k is also the same karat as the American Gold Eagle. It’s also more beautiful at 22k which is the perfect split between 24k and durability.
22kt is .916 purity. American gold coins were .900, which is just over 21.5kt
Thank you for the knowledge
Ive learned so much from watching your videos. Ive looked up your videos to make decisions. Ive seen and always compare your prices. Locally they double and tripple prices vs yours so im working up to get a 22k from you, one day ill order it 😅
I think it's great that you offer the 22K chains which has a much deeper eye catching tone. For many years it was very hard to find anything over 4mm and higher than
14K. Things kinda stopped at that point.

I want a 22kt chain, nothing too flashy. Probably just 3mm but it’s so expensive. I bet that weight feels nice on the neck.
Thanks for the informative video !
My standard has always been 14kt. With these higher purity gold chain videos I been watching, it's got me thinking and looking at 14kt with how I used to think about 10kt, and 18kt is the way to go like it's the new standard or should be.
Dammit JACOJE 🤣
Serious note and in all honesty, my first gold chain was a 10kt 8mm 22" flat curb I got from a major jewelry store.. About three years ago. (I still wear this chain daily)
Tho back then I didn't know about Jacoje or for that matter, I didn't know that much about gold chains.
The store was selling only 10 karat gold and most of it was hollow. I at least wanted a solid chain! I now know that I VERY much over payed for a decent chain, that I could of got in 14kt for the same price. This is why educating yourself on gold jewelry is essential!! Also that I am VERY grateful for Jacoje being around and especially for the informative videos that helped educate many as well as myself so much about gold chains and I am so much more informed now thankfully to your videos! I deeply appreciate everything you guys do at Jacoje, Braden and Raquel! Not only do you offer great quality products at a good price, but you educate your audience, inform us and your costumer service is great! I have learned so much from your videos. This is why I think your fans, us are so loyal and rightly so! You guys are the best. #Team_JACOJE!!!

In some countries (France is one I know of) gold used to, and might still, have to be at least 18kt purity for them to be able to sell it as "gold." In the USA it's 10kt. In the UK it's 9kt. The lowest is I think Germany with 8kt (25% gold).
I only want 22k and 24k , I will settle for 18k . Done with 14k
Braden I want to say!!!!!!! God damn it! … bro I’ve had the 18k 4mm jacoje Miami Cuban… layerd with a 4 mm flat curb the 18 k chain has held up wonderfully and still looks brand new. I never would have got 18 k if it wasn’t for your videos!! Thank you for all you do! 22kt next!
Before I bought my high dollar a chain. I watched all your Videos and did tons of research and you are exactly right about retail. I asked one sales person if they could tell me how much the chain weighed. He told me they didn’t have a scale. LOL. Thanks Braden
Yeah, never buy a place that won't tell you the weight (or a website that doesn't advertise the weight of their chains).
Great video. I just got a 22kt bracelet and the color is incredible. 14kt looks yellow until you compare it to 22, then it looks so pale. I love the bracelet that I got--it's a cuban but every link is worked--either faceted or textured. I think it's vintage Indian--traditional artisans do such amazing work.
Very informative! I haven't even wore my 22k chain yet lol Thank you so much again Braden and Raquel!! 👊💚
Why is it that you have not worn it yet? Afraid it will bent, scratch or dent?

I have an 18k 3mm Franco I bought from jacoje almost a year ago to date on my birthday! Absolutely zero issues with 18k and I don’t think I’ll never go below it. Maybe I’ll get a 22k this year🤔🤔. I’ve been watching your videos for a while now and idk if you ever talked about where the name “Jacoje” actually came from?
I have yet to try anything over 14k. I think my next move will be 18k before I even consider buying a 22k chain. But I will get one at some point. The color on them are super nice. Thanks for sharing Braden. Smash 👊🏽
I went from 14k to 24k to 18k white gold was my latest piece. I like it all.
Thanks for the video. Came across your channel a long time ago and I’m definitely getting my first chain from you once I finish school.
You really just speak facts I wish I could spend some time with u to learn about a lot of stuff and life cause I lost my dad a long time ago nd it's been hard and I'm just starting to get out of my depression loop but if u are willing to talk reply to me
Jacoje is the first person that I heard talk about stacking chains. now everyone is doing it.
GREAT VIDEO
I’ve been wearing my 22k rope along with my 24k ring from Mene for over a year now and they still look new after a shower. Only time I take the ring off is when lifting weights. These jewelers love to lie you about higher purity Gold... they got me once 5 yrs ago, never again.
The weight of that 22-24k is just so much more premium feeling. I gave my 14k away as gifts to my family and I have no chains at all right now but I’m happy to know my gold is now generational and will be passed down 💪🏽 my next buys will be 22k-24k
great video
I’d wear a 22k. I love the color.

Hey, Braden! Can we have a video comparing the 3MM and above Franco chains, including the 5MM or 6.5MM? I just wanna be sure of my decision when I either get a 4MM or 5MM Franco chain. ❤🔥
I have been going back and forth on this. Bigger 14k chain or a real subtle flex with a 22k 4-5mm diamond cut Franco. I guess either will hit my pocket the same so it doesn’t matter haha. Love these videos and getting the perspective on the different purities. Some much needed hand holding for those of us using Jacoje and Braden as our tour guide through our own gold journey.
Get the 22k.. more gold per gram and if you ever sell it you have more of an investment..
My opinion from a mature veteran gold /jewelry handle. 22k or 18k in the 3-5 mm range is on a completely different level then a big 14k chain/bracelet . No hate but that big 14k stuff is for kids. And that big size everybody thinks is fake anyway. When they see that color of 18 or 22 at a more subtle size 3-5mm is when they ask questions and then you can tell them what you got. And that’s from experience
@@nickyp2627 I think your a little confused no hate. Regardless of purity you’d only be selling the pure gold in your piece, 10k, 14k, 18k ,22k etc is all 24k alloyed with other metal for strength. So when you sell it they’re only buying the 24k “pure gold in it so it’s always 24k mixed with different %\amounts of alloy to make different karat amounts of that makes sense ?
I personally prefer the bigger look in 14kt or 18kt than a small chain in 22kt.
I would just rather have a bigger chain. If I could afford to go up purity wise, I'd go 18kt tho and not 22kt.
The only 22kt gold I'd get would be American Gold Eagle coins. I am a bit rough life style and tho I try and take care of my chains, I wouldn't trust myself with 22kt.
@@nik6561 a 22k 100gram chain would be 92.5 grams pure vs a 14k 100 gram would be 58 gram pure..
Nice video👍
Love the luster of 22k 🔥
I asked you a couple years ago about jewelry's putting cvd diamonds in real gold charms or chains can you make another video about it? Thank you
Hey Brayden do possibly see yourself progressing to 24k gold in the future?
Use to wear only 18 and 24k jewelry but the crime rates are so high right now so i settled down to silver. Funny thing here where i'm from is they don't pay much attion to silver or white gold so i can wear those daily.
What about for those of us that want the higher purity & weight but also prefer white gold over yellow? Is 22kt white gold an option?
I have been watching and buying chains from jacoje for a few years now always been more than happy with all my purchases.actually Mike from the tried truth turned me to jacoje after he bought his first Franco chain and been buying and supporting jacoje ever since The main thing I love about jacoje is his honesty you won't find a better guy and as far as the people that say you can't wear 22kt that's just the people that don't know what they are talking about and can't afford it I listen to what jacoje tells me he would never do me wrong fact!!!!
Is the markup a lot higher on higher purity gold chains than it is on lower purity? I believe lower purity or more marked up. I would assume I bought a 24 karat chain and my opinion is gorgeous and can never really look at 14 K again the only thing is, you could just buy an ounce of gold for way cheaper instead of paying for all the craftsmanship
To make a informative decision instead of buying the 14k could I buy the 22k for gym , sweat , swim , work , every day ? Would you give it a Jacoje stamp for this specific question , i really appreciate the content bro bro 😎
I would love to see the differences in colour for rose gold of different purities.
22K is my next purchase! Ready for a code. Lol please Raquel
Here in Europe/Italy we mainly have 18k , get scratched can't imagine 22k 😅
I’ve got most of my jewelry here, all legit. Even my local jeweler here in Vegas loves my chains. Quality!!
I buy all of my gold overseas so its all 18K and 22K. Ive never had a problem with a chain tearing or breaking. When you put a 18 and up next to a 10 or 14K it makes those look almost like silver. The only problem with 22K is its too soft to hold precious stones and if you have something with ornate desing like 2 of my rings and large medallion then the design will rub down overtime like a coin. But Ive had those for 10 years plus and only the rings you can tell. 18K can hold precious stones though. 14K overseas is not considered gold since its 8.3% gold and 41.7% alloy, and opposite of here in the US they dont sell 14K in most places. I never sold any of my pieces but I always assumed that if I did a place that melts my pieces down would give me more since its 18K is 75% and 22K is 91%. In the phillipines/thailand youll often notice that they wear 23K/24K all the time and they have no problems but they probably will mostly wear them at a nice outing or a women that does not plan to do any rough housing.

Is a Franco link the same as Wheat link? I live in the U.K. and struggling to find what I want. I’m after a:

I don’t care for my chains. I wear them wherever I go without any concern. I stick with 14k currently but I may try higher purities in the future. I like the idea and pricing is better.
How much finish is on rope chains or is it natural
I’m looking to buy my first gold chain, I was thinking a 22k 4mm 22” diamond cut rope chain. I have a 2 year old that climbs all over me should I go with a lower karat?
it depends if you think the chain will be pulled on a lot. 22K gold is great metal, HOWEVER if its pulled on it WONT break but it WILL stretch. High karat gold has to be THICK to be resistant to stretching. 4mm is a decent thickness, but 18 would be better if its going to be abused. Also, ropes are great until such time as they break and then they are worthless. Ropes can be repaired but not as well as you can repair a link chain like cable, curb,, figaro or anchor.
Does Jacoje still sell 22K gold?
Hi, I'm American but living in Thailand. I noticed that in USA the gold is not usually SO yellow. Now, living abroad, I see people in India and Thailand (Buddhist based maybe?) they have this Yellow/Orange gold which (to me) looks fake. But they say it's 'higher gold', like 24k. I just don't think that the gold in USA looks like the gold in other countries. Thoughts??? Obviously I don't know the difference and if it's worth it to buy something here. TIA 👍
In other countries, the standard is purest 24 k, and maybe alloyed to bring it down to 22 k. In USA, the standard has always been to alloy it down even further so it's cheaper and less valuable. This also makes it paler and less yellow, because there's so much less gold in the mix, and more cheaper metals. USA is used to 14k, and even 10k is widespread in cheaper stores. Only "luxury" shops offer 18k on a regular basis, and almost never deal in higher k gold. They claim there's no demand...well how can there be a demand for high k gold if the ppl go thru their whole lives without ever seeing it?? It's usually only ppl from other countries like India, Saudi Arabia, or Thailand, etc. who come here with high k gold that you'll see wearing it regularly. You can't buy what you can't find, right?
If you buy anything valuable in a foreign country, please take a local expert with you, even if you have to pay them for their time. It's too easy to get cheated and not know it.
I agree, it looks awful and does not suit any skin tone.

The biggest issue with 22kt is that Swiss watch makers use 18kt. If you want color consistency, you’ll lean more towards 18kt.
Only reason Swiss watchers use 18k is durability. Since a watch is worn on the wrist and risk of damage is high, 18k is the safer bet. Color wise, 22k is much richer and prettier. At the end, anything 18k and up is nice!.
Shouldn't they all be the same color since they are all dipped anyway?

22k gold or 24k is plenty hard enough. Gold is a metal through and through after all. If stones are to be placed on the gold pieces then 18k and lower is plenty hard enough. But if its just a gold piece itself then 22k isnt bad, metal is metal. 24k pieces are available but to each his own

You're going to be more worried about length. If you work like I do, go shorter so that chain isn't flopping around getting caught on stuff.
