22kt TOO SOFT??

  • I wanted to give my opinion on the higher purity chains. Most people believe it's too soft for wear. It really comes down to how you wear your jewelry. For me, 22kt isn't too soft but I don't wear it all the time. The beauty of 22kt gold and weight is to hard to pass up.

    I have worked as a gold broker, design creator, and jewelry seller of 23k gold in Thailand for the past 10 years and fully agree with the information you have provided your viewers. As your subscriber, I have always respected your straightforwardness in your assessment of various gold products even though you don't sell them. I would like to add some additional info about the softness issue. A part of the hardness potential of 22k and 23k gold is the annealing process used. This can be researched. In Thailand, the standard gold purity for chains worn every day is 96.5% slight over 23k. Not only have I found it to be very durable but an excellent store of value which is the main reason for the purity in the first place. 22/23k gold is usually handmade vs machine made. The downside to 22/23k gold, as you stated, is it shows surface imperfections easily and scratches easily (especially rings) and is not right for the customer looking for a "perfect" finish. Of course, many or most chains have such elaborate detail the surface imperfections are completely muted. The great thing about your product in either 14k or 18k is the strength of the added alloy which allows the customer to wear it 24/7 and yet it still has a significant gold value of 58% for 14k and 75% for 18k. The finish on your chains and bracelets is perfect due to the ease of final finishing unlike the more difficult to finish 22/23k gold. I just want to thank you for your solid information on gold purity because there is much incorrect information on the Internet. Your jewelry, in my view, is the best product for the majority of customers who want the best of both worlds...entry price, store of value and increased strength.

      Love this comment. Thank you for your input. Very good point regarding the detail and finish on higher purity gold jewelry. Definitely does hide any imperfections it may have.

I currently have a 14k plain rope chain I got for christmas a few years ago when I get inspired from my father's rope chain he always wore. Since then I've been really into gold chains. Where can I get a heavy platinum chain without a ridiculous mark up on it? There seems to be about a 200-300% premium on platinum jewelry everywhere I have seen. If I could get a heavy platinum chain (100g+) for the same premium as a gold chain, I might go for that instead.

    Yeah I feel like the durability of a chain is overhyped. Reality is I rarely do anything that puts stress on the chain.

    Hello Jacoje love the videos thank u, quick question why does gold cost significantly more as it increases say in gram size, on several websites a 1mm diamond cut 30 inch 14k gold chain costs I’ve seen as low as 500 dollars but a 7mm same size same cut costs as much as 7000, I’m not in the gold business so obviously that’s why I’m asking but why such a huge mark up? I would think it would be cheaper or closer to actual cost per gram for a bigger one versus a smaller one in terms of gram size because your already there when making it versus say a 1mm which as a builder I would think there going out of your way to make something so small versus a big one, sorry for all the rambling I hope this make sense question wise and again thank you for all the help

      it takes more gold to make it. big difference between a 1& say a 7 no even if their lengths are the same. More material, higher price

    Trust me guy~I wear 999 necklace all day long for months and nothing happened (pure gold is easy on scratch, so treat them gently)... I do also wear 916 for rings.

    Can you tell the difference easily between 9ct, 14ct, 18ct and 22ct by just looking at a chain that someone is wearing? they all look the same to me but my eyes aren't great.

    • @Odat
      @Odat Год назад

      Definitely can tell the difference. 14k is a pale yellow, 18k is a deep yellow and 22k is orange. They’re all nice but that 22k color is plain beautiful!

    How much would a 10-gram Pamp Suisse Fortuna with 14kt gold chain and bezel just like in your 22kt gold coin pendants video cost? You pick the right chain that looks the best... I am 5'10 & weigh 260lbs... I want the 24in if you think that would look right... Price me the 22in chain and the 24in chain... Thank you for your help in this matter...

      mhma7 yeah I’m thinking of silver lol I still put my gold pieces in little baggies. Prevents rubbing against other jewelry and prevents scratches. But over a long period of time Gold will tarnish slightly.

    They would have to mix a base metal to it to give it its durability maybe nickel silver

    I like anything from 14k to 23k personally. I have 18k on my two tone Rolex. Looking for a 22k necklace chain, but prefer 14k on my rings for extra durability. My 14k deco ring already gets scratched enough as it is and glad it isn’t higher than 14k. 10k is a joke and would only wear it if it was a gift to me or handed down from a family member.

    it’s not about it being soft tho. I have 24k solid gold pieces and they are very durable what ya talking about soft? If you here that term soft because mostly jewelry stores prefer not to sell 24k gold because they loose money so instead they use this term “soft” and keep your from buying 24k gold pieces so instead they dilute the gold pieces so they can have profit and stretch the gold inventory that they already have . Y’all they ripping y’all off .. buy 24k and invest ..trust me it last long time and it is durable..don’t let these people keep you from purchasing 24k

    We Indians wear only 22k jewellery ... and no it’s not that soft... it lasts generations unless they are very very thin chains.. I told my mom I bought gold necklace in Australia .. which is 10k .. my family was just laughing at me , they think I bought gold plated chain , I kept explaining its 10k gold, but in their eyes 10k is just as bad as gold plating
