  • 14KT gold is dominate here in the United States. I do like 14KT gold and a lot of people do too. I just wanted to make a video showing what the actual ratios are. I think it's important for people to see. It's always a preference choice. Nothing wrong with it though. Thank you for watching!

14 KT is totally respectable and should never be snubbed. 18KT and 22 KT are upgrades. Your doing a good job of teaching and informing. No one should leave snarky comments. That Miami Cuban link against the black T looks pretty sweet in White Gold.

10K is respect too if you wanted it, got it and love it. Real is real. If you saved up and got some real gold no matter the purity, that’s a goal worth pursuing. You’ll have less if you melt it but you still have GOLD around the neck baby📈

Here in the UK its hard to find nice chains in decent purity. The market is dominated by 9k, gold plated and hollow and you're over paying for the look rather than the gold weight. That's why I'd always go to Jacoje for my pieces and pay the shipping fee + customs fee. 100% worth it.

Thanks Braden, fantastic video and great info. I have all 14kt now, but absolutely plan on adding a higher purity Jacoje piece. The richer gold color combined with a heavier weight really feels like it'll make that 18kt or 22kt piece feel even more like an investment and something to pass down. Thanks also for consistently reminding everyone of the golden rule - buy your gold by weight and purity and don't fall into the "mall" type store trap of hollow chains at high prices per gram. I pesonally love the fact that you guys carry solid pieces and always at very fair prices. Thanks again, Rich.

I was in a shop earlier today and and I feel like you can really see the difference that much in person. You can always plate 22 or 24 over your 14 piece for like $200-300. Unless you absolutely want the weight 22k plated over 14k will get you that deep rich color.

I actually prefer the look of 14-karat gold and think it looks better on lighter skin tones. It also has a vivid sparkle that higher karats don't seem to have. Jewelry is more about the appearance for me rather than the value, so I don't see the point in investing in anything over 14-karat gold if that's what looks good. People who purchase gold as a financial investment should just buy 24-karat bullion because jewelry is more of an aesthetic fashion thing.

@@WRS_WatchReviews Yeah, it's a clash for sure. People with paler skin tones often look better with the muted tone of 14-karat gold. The darker tones of 18-karat and 22-karat gold on light skin makes it look like the person is wearing fake gold.

I do agree that 18k American gold is less yellow than European 18k and the main reason is American companies cheap out on the alloys used. I’m Europe, they use mostly silver and copper as alloys. American companies of course wanting to save every penny they can will use inferior alloys which in return makes for a less yellow 18k. They can’t mess with the actual gold content of 18k as by law it has to be 75% but they sure mess with the other stuff lol. Americans cutting corners as usual!.

For whatever reason, my 14k chains from Jacoje were tarnishing, though I believe my skin is very sensitive so I wouldn’t say that it’s a common thing and something to expect. They would get very dark after I wore them just one time and lose their luster and shine. I was cleaning them constantly. I sold them all and they were legit 14k, so it’s not like they were under purity.
I bought a 5mm 22k rope from Jacoje and it puts the 14k to shame. I will never wear less than 22k again. The chain had no reaction to my skin when I wore it recently. Pure gold is definitely the way to go. The color is amazing and I’d rather have a piece that’s mostly gold content and very little alloy. I’ve looked at pure 24k jewelry but it can be crude. I think 22k is the sweet spot.

Chains are like cars the second you drive it off the lot you loose atleast 30% value. And if your talking melt value your talking 80% loss. But if you want every day like my yatch link I've had on for 5 yrs everyday 14 is good because still strong 18 22 gets a little soft

18kt is the perfect compromise of price and purity... especially if you plan on using it for daily wear

Perfect illustration of 14k vs 22k. Maybe too dramatic to buy 14k anything ? I understand your and others position though. Quantity or quality. Nothing wrong with either choice. Personally, 18k minimum, is what I'd sell or buy. Step up Our game.

Ain’t nothing wrong with 14k. Ain’t nothing wrong with 10k either and a lot of people always dog it and say it’s sh** because it has less gold. Yes it does have less gold but very durable 18k or 22 and definitely 24k not strong at all. Pure gold though 24k.

I couldn’t agree with Branden anymore. 14k is a great alloy; that said for experienced gold buyers, the higher purity just hits different. I have a 22k franco that’s held up just fine. No different than my 14k.
I will stand by what I’ve previously said- I think 18k is the perfect alloy

    So 14k is trash now?!

    • @ryanblanchard2508
      @ryanblanchard2508 8 месяцев назад

Not trash. Should be the bare minimum to call a piece of jewelry “gold” though. Realistically, it’s some gold with a bunch of other metals mixed in. Only pieces that I’d call real gold are 22k and up. Even 18k is debatable, still has a lot of other garbage mixed in. At 91.7 percent pure, 22k is what I’d say is legit gold. You can still get the high polished finish that you can’t get with 99% pure 24k.

So you downgraded basically?. Why would you go from that deep yellow 18k to that pale 14k stuff that’s not even allowed to be marketed as gold in most of the world??. Whatever makes you happy lol
