Did you do a color wash on the leaf to get the base color? Is it the same technique you used when you painted the hand sculpture? You mixed the brown with a touch of black and made it a milk consistency. I'd like to start a concrete leaf and have purchased a Gunnera plant. This is the only step I don't know about. Thank You! I put down a solid base or undercoat of quite dark green (I probably put down two coats to create a good solid cololur with no blemishes, etc.). It's a different technique to the colour wash in the hand sculpture video. With the leaf in this video, I put the base coat down and dry brushed the grades of green over the top, going from darks to lights. Hope this helps. :)
When you put down the base coat, did you paint in the veins also? When you do the base coat, are you using a flat acrylic paint? I have watched all of your leaf videos and love the dry brush technique. When you paint, it just comes to life before my eyes. Thank you!
Yes, paint the entire leaf. I put up a very basic undercoating video a while back. It's a bit of a ropey old video and here is the link: ruclips.net/video/n7m_V6CLEe8/видео.html And, thank you for your very kind words! )
