So nice to have more information about suppressors available to the community! I've always been a huge advocate for suppressors with hunting, better to keep nature a little quieter, and save your ears for listening to more Vortex Nation podcasts!
I just started hunting suppressed this season. I am kicking myself for not venturing out sooner. Accuracy and noise cancellation are tremendously better than before. Hopefully it will start getting colder here in Georgia soon so the deer woods will wake up a little more. Love the show, keep it up, and would also love a Vortex Nation hoodie!
Transparency at its finest! It's amazing that the ATF let these guys poke around and voice their opinions. The faster we can get through the paperwork, the more we can work to normalize the use of suppressors and get them out to the people! I've squirreled away some funds for a suppressor, but the hassles associated with the purchase has kept me away. Ill be buying my first one this week!
Part of what kept me from getting my first suppressor was the tax stamp. I just had a hang up on having to pay an extra $200 on top of the cost of the suppressor itself. Glad I finally got over that hang up because I love my suppressors! It’d be nice to get suppressors removed from the NFA (first step towards revocation of the NFA) but they’d really be hard to get at that point due to demand. It’d be a manufacturing opportunity for someone with the ability to produce them and really be a boost to the economy.
Man, this show just gets better and better! Love the move to normalize suppressor use. I also love the move by Mark to normalize eating 4 cheeseburgers for lunch. Me and you both, buddy! Love the show, you guys are my favorite commute companions. Keep up the good work!!
Was coerced into getting premium hearing protection for hunting by friends, as a lot of our hunting is with shotguns that still don't have good suppressor options. Was one of the best decisions I've made. Otto has fantastic earbuds that are cheaper than any suppressor you can buy. Comtacs (non radio kind) are about the same cost. You can use them independently or even double up with them. I highly recommend both option as they are useful in different situations. Don't get me wrong, I love suppressors, you should have a suppressor on your hinting rifle if you can, I use them on everything gun I can, but I also use high quality hearing protection, and I HIGHLY recommend you get quality ears BEFORE the suppressors. Between Ottos and Comtacs you'll be able to protect your hearing and hear better than bare ears when hunting. THEN when you add a suppressor to that mix you'll be even safer and you'll be protecting others and the environment around you as well. You'll also be able to use the same hearing protection at the range that you use when hunting which will normalize the experience for you. I also end up using the same hearing protection when using loud equipment. Premium active hearing protection is a must in 21st century, as are suppressors. Now we need to get manufacturers to normalize suppressors for shotguns, because that's what I hunt most with and there are still no good options for those for hunting.
I got approved for my first can the day before my birthday. Was a 3 month wait on a trust but it wasn’t bad. Hoping my next approval will be a little faster. I already want several different cans 😂
Interesting debate. Here in the UK shooters with a Fire Arms Certificate have no issues with getting Moderators. But we have a more stringent process to get the Certificate in the first place.
What’s your favorite dairy? I like Ellsworth creamery, great product and I can get cheese curds from them out of state while on the road so that’s a plus.
Individuals may be slightly faster but my latest purchase with the silencer shop trust only took 2 weeks, so those are going faster too if anyone was wondering.
My trust application took 6 days from submission to approval. Perspective looking at that it takes more time for the CLEO acknowledgement to clear than it took for approval. Now I see how long my form 1 will take.
You guys should add a design on the hoodies like if the podcast you’re talking about is 30-06 put a 06 bullet on there to Let’s put a white deer on the hoodie and send it my way for a flash back to last years white deer pod !!!!
Hello this is Karl Gunn using my wife Rosealee account she passed away last August . Very good Votex show asalways Bought a Sparc 2 for my Saint looking at getting a LPVO from PSA . Have to wait doing Hurricane yard clean up here in Cross Hill SC LakeGreenwood. Have to wait on LPVO .But Hoodie Sweat would help me stay warm during autumn hurricane Helene clean up . Rock on Vortex Nation . Fish Fries rock on . Get out Vote ..
I wear walker electronic muffs while hunting now, haven’t fired a shot unprotected in years. Did enough damage when I was younger, I’d rather miss the chance at the animal then loose any more hearing then I already have.
Unfortunately, though your logic is sound. You are incorrect. I always get instant approvals buying a firearm. But, im at 6 months on my suppressors and still waiting.
As much as I would love to have a suppressor I refuse to allow the government to extort another penny from me simply because they deemed that I haven't been taxed enough. When I don't have to pay for the privilege of owning one then I'll get one
No offense, but I call BS. The gun shop I go to said that no one is waiting longer than a month. 3 months later, I still don't have it. I have several, never been arrested.
I know half a dozen or so right now at 90+ dys as well and each one has several NFA Items already. I have dealt with ATF/NFA alot and to have an exact answer to this is 100% incorrect. Sometimes it's simply getting better is enough. They're the most unorganized organization I've dealt with with zero methods or answers to the madness. Some of the things happening doesn't make sense yet that's the answer.
Wait times are still all over the place, the system may have gone electronic but it sure feels like the process still depends on which desk your form lands on.
Really wish our state would join the majority. I do think from a legislative standpoint, where I am, anything the NRA wants is DOA. Maybe you can stick it on a housing bill lol.
Suppressors are way too expensive. Add in the NSF fee? I am retired. Want one, need one for my 300 win mag. Dual purpose incorporating a muzzle break. Too expensive. All cost more than my rifle. Oh, as for fishfry, most are food service. All the same food. Homemade is dying, fast. Food service heat n eat make money. Homemade? Labor intensive, dollar per hour is maybe $3.
Selling something frequently doesn’t mean no longer being ceo or on the board. He may have also simply misspoke on something, it’s not like he was reading a script.
At the end of the day as it pertains to poachers for anyone who still believes that suppressors are used extensively by poachers. If you look at the instances in which a suppressor is utilized. Most of them feature a homemade device or any of the jerry-rigged(proverbial oil filter suppressor) type devices. Which can be made readily though illegally. So I don’t buy this idea that the folks who are willing to go out and go through extra paperwork, background checks, and taxes are going to then use a suppressor to poach game.
The Antarctic treaty does not ban tourism or research, you’re free to travel to the South Pole if you wish. Not sure where you heard otherwise but you should question any advice or information you heard from that source.

I met the ASA guys, as well as the ATF agent responsible for speeding up the process, last month at a legal conference, they are doing a great job!
I'm 6 months out now.
A person with a statistics and Black Belt certified trainer went to work as a director in the NFA branch. This person changed the process.

Just joined the ASA!

Loved this episode! Big silencers adobter. Just need a hoodie to wear while shooting suppressed! :)
Humidity in the 80s percent wise is wonderful. I am from south Alabama and it’s brutal
Interesting debate.

Need to get rid of the stupid NFA tax!
This whole show just proves how stupid the atf is. I loved it!
I wear walker electronic muffs while hunting now, haven’t fired a shot unprotected in years. Did enough damage when I was younger, I’d rather miss the chance at the animal then loose any more hearing then I already have.
Maxim didn’t just hate loud noises, his dad go deaf testing the Maxim machine gun during development.
About to hit the 90 day mark
Not sure I'm already 9 month waiting for my approval, now sbr stamp was approved in 3 days !?
As a collision repair technician, I can say deer whistles are a gimmick. I live and work in Southwest Colorado. Deer hits are constant year around.
Glad wait times are down, I’m waiting until prices come down!😂
7.5x55 swiss cartridge talk? It is one of the best rifle cartridges for power and accuracy
My firearm purchases always go through right away, so if I’m understanding this correctly I’d also have a fast NFA transfer.
Unfortunately, though your logic is sound. You are incorrect. I always get instant approvals buying a firearm. But, im at 6 months on my suppressors and still waiting.
Currently sitting at 85 days for approval.
Now we just need to get it off the nfa list
minnesota, get the walleye.... lol, price will blow your mind
Central Wisconsin has a lot of good fish fries
Another irony of gun history and origins... armalite built the first AR15 in Hollywood, California.
It took me 4 months to get my stamp from certification to approval.
Welp, Ryan said buy a suppressor, guess I gotta put a can on that one (or three) I've been dragging my feet on
Can someone give me the TLDR why theyre getting approved so much faster now?
My California overlords say suppressors are bad so I can’t have one
I'm at 6 months on my wait times. So....wait times are not down.
How many times did Marksay “like?”
As much as I would love to have a suppressor I refuse to allow the government to extort another penny from me simply because they deemed that I haven't been taxed enough. When I don't have to pay for the privilege of owning one then I'll get one

And the easiest way to say why times have come down is not ATF related it's changes at the FBI

@paisleyprince5280 100% and literally the truth
Some of us get screwed. Took 9 months it’ll get done
My takeaway from this- suppressors are for everyone. Fish fries are not.
So it was Kevin Brittingham that blocked him huh? Since he had sold AAC in 2009 but was fired in 2011.
Selling something frequently doesn’t mean no longer being ceo or on the board. He may have also simply misspoke on something, it’s not like he was reading a script.
Ryan, you've got to stop saying acquiescing when you mean acquisition or acquiring.
Just make sure not to install the deer whistles backwords

Way back in the day I think it did start as a Catholic thing and it stuck.
Has Mark filled out paperwork/eform for his suppressor yet? Or is he still making excuses?😉
If you so scared of poaching with suppressors then why are you not scared of someone poaching with a crossbow or a bow.
The obvious answer to that is distance, literally the same reason bows and crossbows have less restrictions and get more tags than rifles.
You can't go to the south pole.. Even if there was a south pole, there is a thing called Antarctic Treaty.
The Antarctic treaty does not ban tourism or research, you’re free to travel to the South Pole if you wish. Not sure where you heard otherwise but you should question any advice or information you heard from that source.
@@jaydunbar7538 LMAO
Suppressors are ridiculously stupid
In what way? They are fantastic, but I’d agree that the price and process is stupid
