@@PRubin-rh4sragreed with the spite. But tires aren’t really a “one size fits all” kinda deal. So you might have some trouble finding the right tire for the truck, especially in good condition. But a tire is probably more easier to find then gas or food given not everyone would have it in their mind to snatch tires up in the beginning. And there’s plenty of abandoned vehicles around.
aw, that's a shame, I understand as an content creator wanting to keep the theme of the video strictly gameplay. But as a videogame player, it should be always reminded when mentioning.
I love how Ted is so lovestruck he never calls Diego out on his bs. Almost got him killed by a Nocturnal in the tunnel because he was too lazy to take the longer route, left him behind in the school while he was trapped in a room with a Nocturnal, and since saving him from the car crash it seems like Ted was always going the extra mile to form a connection while Diego was doing the bare minimum for them to make it out of Riddleside and then split up. I mean, sure, Diego could’ve let him die and still took his car battery, and it was dumb for Ted to turn on the music at the school, but that just shows that Diego is like Maggie in that he’s emotionally wounded and not thinking as he normally would, and Ted, once again, did that with Diego in mind.
Yo I would pay to see their relationship developing romantically with Diego overcoming his trauma of having been abandoned and trusting Ted❤ I ship them so hard
Ok I was trying to ignore it but that monster alien looks exactly like southpark paper animation style. The whole game looks like southpark but more realistic models
I saw a reference to Colorado University in this game too, Ted's sweatshirt looks like a CU Buffs hoodie (I'm from Colorado so I'm very familiar with the logo)

Releasing a game in an engine where the mouse freaks out if you move it too quickly in a game which require you to do so frequently, is a pretty poor decision :P

The voice acting has its ups and downs in the game. While it could've been better in some tense situations in the game (If you fail the quick time event in 52:55 Ted gets attacked and Diego awkwardly goes "Ted, No!" in a monotone voice 😭💀), I do like the kind of awkward vibes the conversations have rather than feeling like a planned script. Sort of a double edged sword.
I agree but I also think it would have been much better if the voices of each character were more distinct. It's clear they're trying to show they're all from the same area and so they have similar accents, but it's not like everyone in England has the same voice. It's fairly distracting.
I literally can't not think of BanBan when I hear them talk lmao. It's their monotone voices and the accent. Like, BanBan also was kinda fun and he reminded me of Red Guy from Don't Hug Me I'm Scared, the show where monotone voice is done perfectly. I like the monotone voice of a british dude, but it just doesn't fit the setting of a post apocalyptic world. ....oh yeah, and the women talk too, I nearly forgot. I can barely even remember their voices. They don't get that much screen time.

@@mrjtfang2 I would agree with you until I saw some of the cookie cutter copy cat games that Manly covers sometimes. Like the monster at the door ones and the spot the difference ones. The only redeeming quality on a lot of those is Manly's commentary.
Despite all the flaws this game has i think it's still very cute that the creator made this as a love letter to their partner. and for an about hour long game that was made in four months i think it's pretty good. I hope they continue to improve and we get to see the game and characters develop further in the future!
I'm surprised by how much of the demo was the full game. I liked this, but I agree that a checkpoint system would make going for all endings far more appealing. Still, I think the dev did a good job, and I'm sure their next game will be even better, though probably in a different engine.

i'm surprisingly invested on this! really curious on the other endings as well :) but i agree with manly on how there should be checkpoints on where you can reload your game so it wouldn't be too hard/repetitive to get all endings if you're a completionist. The demo was about action in a world where you have to survive and it's every man for himself. It ended up being an hour long gay drama with a monster at the end, okay.....
The most disapointing thing were the monster's , because the way they were discribed was as if they were less in quantity but were alot stronger than zombies so i thought they were gonna be 10 feet unstopable monsters but they turned out to be monsters barley stronger than a bear 🤦♂️ no idea how they wiped out humanity
Bruhhh that was the entire game? This was basically British post-apocalyptic BL with a slooooow burn and no pay off. 😂 Props to Manly for playing thos game with no negative condemnation.
I'm not alone in thinking the protagonists fall for each other far too fast right? Both of them are overly friendly upon first meeting each other, and you'd think after interacting with the girls the protagonist would be far more distrustful.
@@scrittle Somewhat, the issue isn't they fall in love too fast, it's that most of the romantic development would have happened while Ted was healing and the devs, in their infinite wisdom, decided to just... skip that part. A lot of films manage to establish strong romances with as little as 10 minutes of screentime, sometimes even less. These deves decided they could do it in like 70 seconds. That's why it feels rushed, because it just skiped the actual character stuff that would build up that romance.
@@scrittleDiego literally saved Ted's life so I don't see much of an issue with him trusting him. I mean, it's not like the girls betrayed Ted, they made their intentions pretty clear from the beginning. But the part about them being too friendly/romantic, I do agree should have been fleshed out a bit more.
@@Umcarasemvideo Fair enough. It's really weird that the protagonist began sketching Dien on his first night despite only having just met. If it had been paced better or better illustrated to the player, I'd argue it has potential to be a nice wholesome relationship.
They hyped the nocturnals pretty well, shame that its design made me think it was from south park. could have made it more alien or eldritch, or well not humanoid shape.
Anyone else a bit disappointed in the development of this game? Like there was a lot more love and effort put into the teaser vs what we got after that part later on. We got some sort of decent narrative experience in the teaser then it just evolves into something that makes it seem like it wasn't even made by the same people. imo there is way too much on a focus on Diego for what we got afterward we should have maybe gotten more survival type stories. The game seemed to change tone from what I was in the teaser of being a survival choice type game to a romance adventure feeling game (the pacing in the dialogue made me think he was supposed to be a romantic interest). Also the 'villain' encounter from the mart that instantly dies on the second encounter makes no sense they try to justify their interest in going after the main character as them being interested in the car but they would have no knowledge of the car before the encounter which means they're there in a out of the way school "just because" with an excuse thrown on top vs being something that enhances the experience. There just isn't any "drive" that makes sense for the person to go after the MC like that if one of them didn't die during the encounter the first time around. Making them seem evil was also lazy we're led to believe that they also killed their partner after you left because they didn't shoot you? The MC doesn't feel like they are surviving just "let's go after the MC and disregard my own life and needs because the story is based around the MC" it doesn't feel natural to have them relentlessly pursue the MC in that case at all in my opinion. The letsplay itself was pretty good just felt like dropping a huge "too long didn't read" on my audience experience on the story that I didn't see many people mention.
Based on what the goal was (A game dedicated to the creators romantic partner), diego was always going to be the focus-but it was too short and the characters were unbelievably dumb (in the literal sense of unbelievable), that's all that has to be said.
@@mrjtfang2 If this game was meant to be dedicated to a romantic partner, we did not get a glimpse of that at all based on the preview we got for the game (the original demo of the gameplay in the mart location). There wasn't even a foreshadowing of it by letting us know that the main character is looking for that connection. We were led to believe it would be a survival type game where our choices matter for the survival aspec etc. This might be why people like me are disappointed because in that sense we were led to believe a game will be an X way based on the demo provided and we got Y instead when it came out. Personally for me if I were to know that this is a romance story game vs what we were led to believe, I would not feel disappointed as what I experienced when I saw the finished product because of the complete direction change from the preview we were given. My expectations for the finished product was "misled" in that sense. People that wanted a romance story also weren't informed that it is going to be going that direction from the demo as well so if they saw a survival-type game they wouldn't stick around to see the finished product because they would want a romantic story game instead. It just doesn't work both ways whether you want a romance story game or a survival type game because in either case you would be misled. Thank you for taking the time to read this if you made it to the end!
@@cptteacosy6158 My argument is very simple. We got a demo showing X game and Y game came out instead so people that wanted to buy X game were disappointed.

I love the game in concept, "indie Tell Tale" is something I wish more devs tackled so props to the dev for going this route, and I sincerely hope to see more games made by them! In practice, between the camera bug (engine limitation, so probably the softest complaint), the minigames (which add nothing other than fail-states), and the fact the only two women exist solely to antagonize to protag (as per design, apparently, since during the demo the dev dropped by the comments to mention how the story "is about the boys, not about the girls"), it's hard to really praise this game as anything but a proof of concept that it can be done. I sincerely wish to see more games of this type released, and I hope this one kickstarts the trend
I kinda had the same feeling, like I get ir, they are supossed to be the bad guys and all of that, but the dev could have expanded more on the girls and not use them just as villains without no explanation of what happened to their group, or Mia, in this ending.
Mm. A lot of stuff felt exaggerated, too. Why were Mia and Maggie so opposed to one (or both) of them riding in the bed of the truck?? Are they scared of being attacked by a nocturnal and having little to no cover? Are they idiots? And _Maggie._ why. Why does Maggie _need_ to kill this kid? Like.. no, actually. What’s her reason? Mia doesn’t want to. If you react calmly and propose working together, there’s no reason to kill Ted. Is she just bloodthirsty? What’s her side of the story? And then later, during the prom scene. I can understand why Ted would be opposed to her tagging alone, but even _Diego_ suggests riding together and they just.. are appalled at the very idea. Do any of these characters know how to survive in a post-apocalyptic world??? 💀
I got annoyed with them for leaving the school lights on. Doors unlocked and you'd think they would be used to barricading themselves to be safe. It just didnt make sense at times. I can see the vision and liked the somewhat lore about the creatures but that was kind of it. I dont buy into the romance yet. I kind of wanted to know more about Mia's group and what happened.
_MBH sees bird_ *"PROTEIN"* I enjoyed the idea behind the game. The monster with tremendous strength and face melting (!!) was a cool idea. As with Telltale games, it might wind up fairly linear, but I like the little decisions along the way that might influence how characters relate. I agreed with MBH in being surprised that what seemed like 'bad' choices like going back for the guitar ended up actually good for the ending, even tho Diego kinda unfairly called Ted 'incompetent'. On the negative side - there were many strange plot holes to me. Leaving the garage door partially ajar when you don't know where the monster is, playing guitar in the school when ditto about the monster AND it makes noise. Small things like why didn't the one girl keep a gun on Ted while the other one drives, not shooting the tires bc how did that help the problem of needing to escape? I also have mixed feelings about the voice acting and feel it might have been better without it. I hope the developer tries again with a post-apocalyptic game and uses this strange monster again.
I literally just watched Kubz Scout’s playthrough like 2 hours ago and checked to see if you made a video at the time and there wasn’t. BUT lo and behold you did now! 😃
They made two mistakes: 1) Revealing what a nocturnal looks like too soon. 2) Revealing a the romance too soon, feels rushed. To be fair, there's something here but it all feels rushed and half baked.
What do you mean with romance? It's two handsome 19 year old guys with perfect hair, perfect skin, in a post apocalyptic world, and very pretty eyes, just being bros. Don't read your agenda into it.
I remember watching this game on someone else's channel before and being so excited that more games in this style are being made only to be disappointed by this game's awful writing and choices. Like, it was so awful I didn't realize some of them were being serious at first. Hats off for enduring this game for us...
Eh well, personally for like a beginner game coming from a young developer, it's serviceable. Everyone starts somewhere. Of course we keep the right to critic it as it is open to the public, but don't think we should go about it in such a destructive nature.
Y'know, I reckon that with more competent writers and better voice actors, this could've been a pretty solid game. The idea of a post-apocalypse that's now inhabited by (what appears to be) exclusively teenagers who'd grown up in that post-apocalypse, having to evade a dying but still highly-dangerous alien race gives A Quiet Place vibes, and I think there's a lot of room to explore what living in that environment would do to an entire generation of children. Having to learn at a young age to be cunning, survival-focused, forgoing friendships and bonds for the sake of one's own needs... What would that do to a person? The way it's presented right now, it just seems a bit clumsy and awkward... but promising. The devs should make something else, hopefully something better.
Not being able to fix a bug with mouse puzzles is fine, but they can change the puzzles to keyboard presses. Mostly because as new versions of windows etc come out it's gonna make this game unplayable. Diego is pretty neat, and I like the ending for the furniture bandits. I like the story that was told.
I know Ted's decisions weren't all perfect but incompetent is a bit harsh 😅 Also: I did _not_ realize how small Diego actually was until they danced oml 😭💕
Ah yes, the old trope of "alien creature that participated in killing off most of the world can be stopped by two young men holding a door". Bleh. Also, how the hell did that thing fit in a ventilation shaft.
So except the first part in the market.. The game is a post apocalyptic romance between two boys with *some* horror elements. Tbh I really feel their romance was forced and the mia character was left out without being utilised again without much thought... Was excited and now am dissapointed
The game was meant to be a love letter to the main developer's partner, which is why it mostly focuses on the romance (The two main characters have similar looks to the devs irl). Of course, it doesn't excuse its flaws (personally, I feel the game feels more like what would have been the actual demo than the complete, full game), just lil background info

That was... short. Well, here's a few random thoughts. The two girls at the beginning were really stupid to risk Ted's truck just for the sake of being spiteful idiots. Diego felt like a genuinely nice guy and I liked his personality and caring attitude towards Ted. Ted *actually* knowing what's poisonous and what's not is a nice touch. He does sound like an actual survivor. Diego doesn't feel very bright, though. Nocturnal in the area. They live in the dark. And he goes through a tunnel? The prom scene at school hits hard. Celebrating the rocket sounds like coping... Or a massive propaganda thing. I get Diego's point of view. I'm just glad they get a little guitar song and - oh hey look a spiteful idiot showed up! Nocturnals sounded scary at first. Giant acid spitting night aliens? Nice! And then they revealed their appearance. Well, anyway. The game is competent but not very scary, and I understand why it's so short. Telltales format would just end up having the same ending if they tried to push it too far because it's probably impossible to have as many endings as there are paths.
the story beat of the nocturnals dying out is interesting and having a setting at the tail end of the apocalypse is super cool, I would like to see more types of monster apocalypses go down that route
It’s a bit… uhh… unpolished, I guess, but branching/CYOA games are something we need more of, so I can appreciate that, at least. And the fact that you actually move around could lead to some great puzzle-type gameplay and the like.
@@destribunny2121 What survival? They both survived the whole second encounter felt like lazy writing there is no reason for them to be pursuing the main character the way they were pursuing them. The woman is disregarding her own survival by going out of her way for revenge almost as if the writer of the narrative didn't realize that the person going after them is supposed to also be in a survival type situation. Remember she randomly encountered them in a school that is somewhat hidden away due to the process to get there when you actually travel there. There is no reason for her to even be at the school location the lazy explanation of "I know you have a car here because I found it" doesn't work in the reason for GETTING to the location, remember she would have no idea that there was a car here in the first place before searching the location.
I hope this studio grows after this!! It's a little rough around the edges in nearly every aspect but I think has some scary moments, some cute ones, and a good foundation for the art style. Yeah. I liked the backgrounds made for both main characters, it gives them a sense of realism. Like how when one character won't agree with you if you're trying to side with their perspective. Instead, they make up their mind about how 'you' are (from their pov) and makes them think differently about you, with their own reasons. Very well done 👍
Have a lot of criticism of this game. To start with this really needed to be about 10x longer with multiple chapters. This feels like the game Consortium where they released a "game" that basically felt like a really good intro chapter to a larger game that didn't exist. Second is the voice acting, it's just so...stodgy and awkward and misses the mark. It reminds me of this Eddie Izzard routine about British movies where the drama is just overly subdued people opening doors and going "Uhm...oh...uh...well...I guess I better go." "Yes I guess you better have."
voice acting critique is fair, but I think saying "the game needed to be about 10 times longer with multiple characters" is incredibly unfair for something that's seemingly just a passion project by a small team
@@Greg_BoingThey weren't forced to put project earlier, they could put it in public then finished in anytime, bruh. @@L4cifer-Forever not to be a condescending git about it, but I’m not sure you quite understand how indie game development works. From what I can tell from looking on the steam page and such, this game took at least nine months to make. To make this game “at least 10x longer” the devs are gonna be looking at upwards of like 7 years of work. Now if this was a big company this would be fine, but when it’s only a few people that’s just not a realistic time sum to put into a game that very few people will ever even find due to discoverability issues. Not to mention it’s highly likely they just don’t want to, it’s not supposed to be a grandiose adventure, it’s just a short little telltale-esque story about two dudes in a post apocalypse. They’ve finished telling that story, and now will move on to making something else that’s even better now that they have the experience. (Not to mention, if they did add a bunch of characters like you say, then they’ll have to find voice actors, which will be INCREDIBLY expensive or at the very very least very time consuming. It’s just nowhere near realistic to have your expectations that high for a game that isn’t supposed to be a triple A, just a short story game.

Had someone told me that this was some sort of obscure TellTale-inspired indie horror game from around 2013 to 2015, I'd totally believe them.
Fits more with that time period than this one.

The Nocturnal looks legitimately like a monster character straight out of Southpark.

If this game is in England, I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't a post-apocalyptic game. That's what I imagine how England is like.
I said it in another reply but. I kind of enjoy the voice acting in this because it sounds like the awkward sorta conversation you'd see irl
They sounded almost as bored as I was
I agree but I also think it would have been much better if the voices of each character were more distinct.

I enjoyed the idea behind the game.

@@JoceBeggar i think you might be the one with the issue dawg.. let someone leave a wholesome comment without you making your personality about it. all they were saying was that manly's videos are a comfort for them, like how it is for lots of us. just drop it and go do something outside.
@@JoceBeggar idk if youve gone thru similar things so im gna be as nice as possible w this. i am not ‚crying out for help‘ im telling my favourite youtuber how i appreciate him and how hes helped me. nowhere in this comment was i crying out for help or looking for advice. i know youre probably trying to help me ‚get better‘ but sometimes we can interpret things wrong. im js telling you now
Jesus the inputs for the QTEs in this game are atrocious, I don’t know how manly had the patience for this. I’m getting frustrated just watching it
That was...
Glad you played this, saw it pop up in my recommended videos a couple days ago and didn't watch it because it wasn't from you
the story beat of the nocturnals dying out is interesting and having a setting at the tail end of the apocalypse is super cool, I would like to see more types of monster apocalypses go down that route
It’s a bit… uhh… unpolished, I guess, but branching/CYOA games are something we need more of, so I can appreciate that, at least. And the fact that you actually move around could lead to some great puzzle-type gameplay and the like.
There's something really refreshing about this game, I'm so excited to see more if the creator, or you, do more with it!
bro not killing that one girl in the start that literally starts a fight with you and tries to force her friend to kill you is crazy to me
It's crazy what people will do when it comes to survival.
Nah, if you kill one the second will come for you when you asleep. You either kill non or both
@@destribunny2121 What survival?
@@roberthopek8726 nah, look at the show m vs w where they survive at an island, pretty accurate

Can you be more detailed instead of directing me to an entire show to potentially get your argument?
Thinking about it made me realize Maggie just did all that out of mere spite
I hope this studio grows after this!! It's a little rough around the edges in nearly every aspect but I think has some scary moments, some cute ones, and a good foundation for the art style. I hope it's episodic or at least gets a re-release later down the line when the devs have more experience under their belt 💛💛
It’s funny. I just watched you play the demo version yesterday!
my prayers have been answered. I haven't watched any of the nocturnal videos until yours showed up. thank you oh might algorithm!
Geez this game started out so interesting and then got flat fast

Ted and Diego are so freaky 😭🙏
why would he drop those glasses? dude has a book on lord of the flies you would think he would understand the importance of glasses lol or they can be a good trading item, valuable to the right person.
love the art style ☺ reminds me of old flash games. was pleasantly surprised it took a romantic turn with Ted and Diego too. Would love to see the devs continue the story!
Yeah. I liked the backgrounds made for both main characters, it gives them a sense of realism. Like how when one character won't agree with you if you're trying to side with their perspective. Instead, they make up their mind about how 'you' are (from their pov) and makes them think differently about you, with their own reasons. Very well done 👍
omgg the creator posted a video talking more about thiss you should watch it it's really cool
@@whxfoxy :00 where can i find it?
Have a lot of criticism of this game. To start with this really needed to be about 10x longer with multiple chapters. This feels like the game Consortium where they released a "game" that basically felt like a really good intro chapter to a larger game that didn't exist. Second is the voice acting, it's just so...stodgy and awkward and misses the mark. It reminds me of this Eddie Izzard routine about British movies where the drama is just overly subdued people opening doors and going "Uhm...oh...uh...well...I guess I better go." "Yes I guess you better have."
It feels semi realistic in its awkwardness, which I do like a little.
voice acting critique is fair, but I think saying "the game needed to be about 10 times longer with multiple characters" is incredibly unfair for something that's seemingly just a passion project by a small team
@@Greg_BoingThey weren't forced to put project earlier, they could put it in public then finished in anytime, bruh.
Even if they had "time-limits" here is a question: why do you even take a task which you cannot do? Like, seriously, they could make game longer and have much more revealing of characters/lore.
@@L4cifer-Forever No, they are right. If you think they could just "make it 10 times longer" you're not understanding how making games works.
This is the earliest I’ve ever been to a Manly video, noice ✨
I loved Walking Dead, and I've been loving seeing people play this game- Can't wait for future updates to better understand the storyline.
i thought this was just chapter 1 , i wish there would be more! i feel like it has more potential. it’s a neat little game
omg this!! i remember the demo for it, glad to see it finished though im surprised its so short
“Even if i knew a thousand other people I’m sure you’d still be my favorite” hit me so hard and now I’m crying over it
this game feels like if it was released back in 2012's newgrounds it would become so popular that the creator would make it the 1st episode out of a full lenght game
The aesthetic and vibe could use some detailing and work, but otherwise looks cool.
Oh man! I've just recently stumbled across your channel and it's filling a void I didn't know was there. Currently binging all your content and absolutely loving it, great job and keep up the awsome work!
