    If I spent over $4000 for an amp and it didn't blow me away and I questioned keeping it, it would be gone...
    I don't know about you, but when I plug into a cheaper amp and it sounds pretty good. I say it sounds great for what it cost. When I plug into a very expensive amp and something doesn't sound perfect, I say this is bullshit this amp cost this much. 🤣🤣🤣

  • @CS-ru4xd

    Fun fact about this amp....the internal boost is voiced differently to the corresponding channel. Like each boost mimics a different type of boost depending on the channel. Example: Channel 3A might be voiced like a Ibanez TS9 when engaged or something like that. IDK....i still think this amp sounds really good! Oh...and you can adjust the brightness of the LEDs with a rotary knob on the back in case you don't like it so bright!

  • @mmagoon67
    @mmagoon67 Год назад +1

    If the channels are sounding a bit thin the resonance knob can compensate. The Mark 3 is tailored for its matching cab the TC412A60 which has a very tight low end response and it seems to give the amp proper voicing. I heard a drop in thickness when the mudkiller was engaged.

    If it was up to me, I would keep it for its versatility. I actually enjoyed all the channels the clean channel in particular was nice and chimey, and channel 3 was very chugg friendly.
    If I was in your position Jarrod with that "Amplifier wall of death", I would keep the Tri amp but sell the Victory super kraken.

    They have amp called the switchblade which might be more voiced to your style it's got a few built in effects and has midi as well I think Thomas blug was involved in designing it?

      I have a Switchblade and a Coreblade, the latter is voiced the same as the Triamp Mk3 and you are correct the Switchblade is a much better-sounding amp with the right speaker. I think a lot of the problems with H&K's newer amps is the TSC tech makes everything really bright. I had a chance on getting a TSC Switchblade for a great price but hesitated and lost out, so I can't test out my theory.

    I had the GMD40 that I traded for a Rockerverb. I know these amps were hit or miss for a lot of people. But I was getting some crazy heavy tones from the GM40 and I would love to get my hands on one of these. It just really had the tone I was always looking for. Also the midi was so nice. To be able to sync it up with everything else.

    I really like this video. The only mistake you usually do is searching for those chugga chugga sounds even in amp channels that are not suppose to chug at all. The channel 1b is a kind of light crunch and is not suppose to play any kind of metal or whatever.

    Hughes & Kettner make good amps, but I don't know why anyone in America would buy them. They have no support for the USA and no warranty for the USA so it's pretty pointless from a service or support standpoint. That's my biggest complaint with them which is a company issue, not an amp issue.

    Cool amp, but nothing I would keep. Reminds me of the Mesa Road king ii I had you need to take out a loan to retube it. I would never gig with it without a backup. • @ciggs5649
      @ciggs5649 Год назад +1

      @C S I tried to love it I threw all kinds of tubes and speakers at it but didn't come around to my liking. Cleans were awesome but I was always trying to dial out an unpleasant low mid hump I tried eq in the loop which helped but still wasn't happy with the amps attack. I took it too a tech and he said the output stage was its downfall and told me to try a roadster which has a more direct output without tube switching. Never ended up getting a roadster but played one and to my ears it was better. I have a Mesa TC-100 that I'm happy with now along with a Splawn Quick Rod. Amp did sound good recorded though. This is all just my ears opinion.

    Wow I was always wanting that Amp, but it was so expensive alot of bells and whistles that's the scary part, to many things to look at if something goes wrong, sometimes less could be better in my humble opinion, but what do I know 😆 🤣 😂 great video Jarrod...

    • @CS-ru4xd

      It's actually simpler than it looks....3 channels with 2 options OR 6 channels independently ....but it is actually pretty user friendly. My problem with amps of this nature is the options are endless! Therefore the tweaking is constant. One day you might think you have it dialed in to your ultimate tone, then you turn a knob and the wormhole begins again. Great amp...too many choices and options for me but it's definitely a tweaker's dream amp!! And the chicks dig the pretty lights, if that matters!! lol

    In order to get the most out of this amp you need the corresponding cabinet by H&K to go with it or you can’t really tell what it sounds like. The vintage speaker cabs etc. sound like crap with this amp. It’s a 150 watt amp with massive bass punch especially on the 3B channel. Without the H&K cab you can’t really give an honest review.

    Der amp ist sehr flexibel, aber er hat keine Seele. Kanal 2,3 und 4 sind nach meiner Meinung zu harsch, ab der 12 Bundlage wirds einfach zu schrill! Da hilft auch das zurückdrehen des Treble Potis nicht viel- wird dann höchstens dumpf. Der Amp fällt deutlich gegen einen jvm 410 oder Mesa Roadking 2, durch- sorry und wie geagt, ihm fehlt die Seele..

      Two totally different animals. Option-wise maybe similar but the voicings are way different. I have owned both at the same time and did the side-by-side comparison. And if I'm being totally honest, the H&K was actually more versatile in the options department. Do I still own either of these 2 amps? No....too much option paralysis with the H&K and the Savage...so off they went in exchange for simpler amps.

    Ok ok, my clever, little quip, notwithstanding. The Triamp is one of the best amps you can buy. But it’s overall tone, is a little outdated and the distortion is a little gritty for my taste, and seems to be lacking that smoother, but just as angry, molten distortion you get from a mesa boogie.
    Still a great amp, but shave about $2000 off that price tag. I will take a Mark 2 C plus over a triamp any day! Boo hoo for no ambient lighting lol
