      He is. His death inspired Peter to use his powers for good and fight crime. He doesn't let a single criminal get away because last time he did it resulted in the death of his loved one. And he lives by "With great power, comes great responsibility"

    This scene got me all teared up as a kid, when Peter refuses to take Ben's hand and you see the look on Ben's face it's heartbreaking.
    Possibly the best scene in the entire trilogy.

      Aldair Reynoso Somewhat, metaphorically, it happened, by Peter returning as Spider-Man, fighting bad guys. And, in Spider-man 3, by Peter relentlessly looking for Ben's killer, finding him and beating him.

      I think this is just hands down my favorite scene in a movie ever. I never cry during a movie, but the first time I saw this I was really shaken. When Peter declined Ben's hand, it felt like a slap in the face of emotion and I wasnt expecting how honest and REAL it felt. Dissapointing someone you care about when you tried your best is gut wrenching. This scene was gut wrenching.

    I honestly start crying every time I see this scene. It shows how miserable and desperate Peter is, his internal conflict of wanting to live out his dreams and have the normal life he always wanted as opposed to being Spider-Man. He can't fully be with MJ as Spider-Man because he knows it will eventually put her life in danger. Him talking to Uncle Ben was essentially his sub-conscious. It shows the impact his uncle's death had on him and that he still hasn't fully recovered from it. I think we've all been there. Wanting to have a normal life and pursue our dreams yet there's always some aspect of our identity that limits us from this. When uncle Ben asks Peter to take his hand I lose it. "I am Spider-Man no more." This isn't just an action-packed superhero movie. This movie had a ton of genuine heart and soul and that's why it will always be the greatest superhero movie of all time. This movie is honestly a masterpiece.

      this is the best scene of the entire trilogy. Peter is saying life is hard enough, being spider man just adds so much more weight to his shoulders. handling the responsibilities of adulthood Is one thing, but the responsibility of being a hero is something I can't fathom. this scene also defined the theme of the trilogy, a young man growing up in an impossible situation and how he deals with it

    I love how Uncle Ben says “Peter, all the times we talked about…” as in saying Peter frequently visits the last time him and his Uncle Ben last spoke and uses it to talk to him, in his mind. Really brings a different layer to his character, symbolizing his entire struggles and how he views his Uncle Ben as his safe space, even if in the final moments, he nearly shunned him away. The love between these two is unreal.

      In the comics it was way worse. The citizens freakin hated his ass for no reason in the comics. Always throwing stuff at him, cursing at him, calling him prejudice names like menace and monster. When the whole time he is trying to protect they ungrateful asses from these crazy phsyco villains and criminals. And his peter parker life was still messed up as well. Peter's a better dude than me I would have given these people the holy finger and kept on movin with my life. Yeah the movie only captured one aspect of his torture life. So far, the home series has mostly just been a big joke that makes people laugh instead of feel for the characters. But you see at the end of NWH, peter loses aunt may, his brothers, his girlfriend and his best and only friend dont even know he exists anymore they cant remember him, peter has to go off and live on his own in a shitty apartment. This scene works so well because you witness a young individual who’s just had enough. He’s at the weakest point of his life and he’s reached his breaking point. You can see the look in his eyes, he’s giving up. It’s almost a look of defeat because he just wants a life of his own and he no longer wants to do what he was meant to do. Tobey Maguire’s performance is so surreal, you feel so much sympathy for Peter Parker and all the things he goes through you can actually relate to at least one of his struggles if not all. Great Scene.

      How he tearfully said by refusing to take his hand and accept his promise: "No uncle Ben, I'm just Peter Parker (his normal self) and I'm Spiderman (superhero)
      no more, no more 😢💔
      It really broke me down into tears while watching this scene back at the age of 25, because he gave up and losed his faith for who he truely is and where he stands for as a lovely superhero.
      You can see that Peter had losed all his powers, his uncle, his abillities and his girlfriend (MJ). It gave him much depression and pressure. And a matter of fact he was not fully recovered from his uncle who got accidently killed.
      This is a very wonderful scene that showed how very desperate he was in life and decided to move on with his very normal life while cutting himself off from the public.
      It's recognizable and okay to take a break for example on "social media" what people or celebrities do. To recover from their own trauma's or anything that affect their life.

      My top 5
      5. When goblin is about to kill Peter until he mentions MJ, making Peter furious and giving him the strength he needed to defeat the goblin.
      4. The scene where Peter stops the train as well as the fight preceding it. It shows how powerful spidey is and how he will stop at nothing to keep fighting for the greater good. The way he stopped the train really showed his capabilities and how he puts his all into his fights.
      3. When aunt may gives Peter the speech about what it means to be a hero. Inspiring him to obtain the strength he needs to defeat Ock and get back MJ.
      2. This scene Peter dreams of talking to Uncle Ben and tells him that he can no longer bare being Spider-Man and that its just too much for him. "No, Uncle Ben, I'm just Peter Parker...I am Spider-Man no more." This scene makes me cry literally every time I watch it. Extraordinarily beautiful scene and phenomenal acting.
      1. The entire ending of Spider-Man 2. Harry finding out his best friend is the person he hates most, as well as Peter saving MJ and finally convincing Doc Ock of the error of his ways and how we sometimes have to give up the things we want most...even our dreams. It shows how much humanity Octavius had, and how the circumstances surrounding his wife's death pushed him over the edge. Also afterward when MJ ditches the wedding to be with Peter. Peter finally gets everything he ever wanted. He gets to love MJ and be with her unconditionally now that she knows his identity. That final swing across Manhattan at the end of the movie with that awesome score playing makes me tear up. It's an absolutely beautiful ending to an incredible masterpiece of a movie.

    This escene is priceless, the way they have a similar scene as in 1 but with elements to exalt it, the white background to symbolize the sun or conscious mind, uncle Ben reminding him his values and asking him to take his hand like Adam and God in Michelangelo, showing how the contact of God is within reach but only if the man is willing to have it, and Peter broken from the weight of those ideals.

  • @spideylight528
    @spideylight528 4 года назад +124

    This scene....... Is arguably the best in the film, seeing his inner conflict (uncle ben) telling him that he has a gift when Peter thinks its a curse is a sign of stress and PTSD from thinking about his dead uncle and when you think about that, that really makes this scene a lot sadder. And the thing that struck me most by this scene is the look on his face before he throws the suit away, it's like he's throwing away himself and it's sad, but the question is who is he really throwing away?

    I'm gonna catch a lot of flack for saying this, but part of me wishes Peter had given up being Spider-Man for good. To me, this scene symbolizes him finally moving on and freeing himself of the guilt he feels for Uncle Ben's death. Don't get me wrong: Spider-Man is one of my all-time favorite heroes, but the guy's been through so much. If anyone deserves to live a happy life, it's him.

    • @ruvelf
      @ruvelf 8 лет назад +57

      +Kyle Hughley But Peter's motivations behind being Spider-Man don't stem from a sense of guilt, but from a sense of responsibility. It's not about atoning for his failure to save Uncle Ben, as much as it's about him learning a lesson and applying to his life.

    • @bashbro1able
      @bashbro1able 8 лет назад +14

      +ruvelf I agree with you, but I think it's more of a combination of both his guilt and moral of responsibility. I think at first in his career, Peter chooses to do what he does as a way to atone for his failure to save Uncle Ben, but I think as he grew up and matured it became more about being responsible and putting others before himself.

    • @ruvelf
      @ruvelf 8 лет назад +4

      bashbro1able I actually would say that isn't the case because it's implied that Peter learns a lesson of "great power" and "great responsibility" right after Uncle Ben dies. If he didn't learn that lesson right then, it kinda undermines the whole narrative.

    • @bashbro1able
      @bashbro1able 8 лет назад +7

      ruvelf Yeah, I know, I'm not denying that he learned that with great power there must also come great responsibility, but I don't think it really sunk in as being a true aspect of him as a person until a little bit later. The guilt is obviously still there when he says it's "All his fault" at the end of Amazing Fantasy #15 when Uncle Ben died, and I think that guilt is what drives him to become a superhero to make up for it. But over time, I think putting people before himself and sacrificing his personal life to do the right thing became something that became an integral part of his character rather than just a moral obligation stemming from guilt, and I think that shift happens somewhere around Amazing #50 with the Spider-Man No More storyline. But it's all just up to interpretation.

    Such an emotional and powerful scene. IMO this is the greatest superhero film of all time and one of the most inspiring movies ever made. Thank you Sam Raimi for giving us the best spider man films, all 3 are great!

      Amazing Spider-Man wasn't a trilogy, and was also hot garbage and a huge disservice to the character.

    The way this movie hits once you're at his age. I used to be frustrated with this movie as a kid because of all the slow and human scenes, now i can't help but understand and cry when i see this.

    I recently rewatched this movie. Now I remember why I loved Spider-Man as a kid. The recent movies they have made are no way near this. I have given up on marvel a long time ago. There where so many good movies back then but this was one of my favourites. Here Peter Parker feels more human and generally kind as a person, setting a good example for us to follow. Sure he makes mistakes, but al least he learns from them. The two other actors just don’t cut it. Too awkward trying too be cocky and cool. Especially in the amazing Spider-Man.

    this could have been an extremely corny moment, like really a flashback in white? But no the genius actually pulled it off, this such a heartfelt scene.

    I don't love these SpiderMan movies just because of all the action scenes but because the story in this one actually had heart and wisdom to teach for generations and to me Toby Maguire will always be my favorite interpretation of both Peter Parker and SpiderMan.

    This scene and the aunt may speech about what is to be a true hero....''“Everybody loves a hero. People line up for them, cheer them, scream their names, and years later they’ll tell how they stood in the rain for hours, just to get a glimpse of the one who taught them to “hold on a second longer”. I believe there's a hero in all of us, that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble, and finally allows us to die with pride. Even though sometimes we have to be steady '' are the ones that makes this movie the best spiderman movie ever!....besides a very good super hero movie..it is a beautiful movie..that did teach me since I was little that no matter how hard life can be... I have a hero in myself that always makes me do the right thing''

    I just realize in the 2.1 version, they added a dialogue right after Pete's line, "I'm in love with Mary Jane", he says, "You know I understand, but I thought you learned the true meaning of courage". Why'd they had to cut that?

    I think Peter is visualizing the last conversation he had with his uncle in the first film and figuring out what he could have said.
