- In this video, I'll show you how to install a side console to your Jon boat. A side console is a great addition to your boat as it provides a comfortable and convenient place to operate your boat's controls, while also freeing up valuable deck space. The kit I am using is the RPD Side Console Kit available here: amzn.to/3Tw4NtA

Love how this series is going
Thanks, Great Job. Liked and subbed !
Did the steering wheel come with it ?
Welcome aboard! No the wheel I bought separate
Very nice build. I am gonna be doing a similar project and have a quick question. How far is your new console from the transom?
I'll grab a measurement today and drop it here.
About 78"
Great - thanks. I assume that is 78” from the transom to the back “or steering wheel” side of the console? Is that about the same distance your Tracker Classic XL console was located? I have an older Tracker 16’ tiller model that I am changing over to a side console.
I have a similar boat like yours (1648 short transom with a long shaft -jack plate modified) but it’s a flat bottom with a square tip at the bow. I plan to take it out on the coast where it can get a little choppy . Do you recommend a side console or a center console? Don’t want a tiller because my arm gets super tired at the end of the day. I’m not a big guy so I can make either set up work
I would probably recommend a center console setup, possibly a standing one, for choppy inshore waters.
@@mvboutdoors ok perfect. Yeah I was leaning towards a center console. Thank you for responding
When you drilled the 2 screws in for leg support how did the screws not go through the boat and come out the bottom?
The installed floor sits on top of ribs and aluminum framing, the screws only went through the floor not the bottom of the boat.

Do you have a link to the new second set of seats you bought?
Here you go! amzn.to/3lgITOi
@@mvboutdoors Cool thanks! What about the center seat?
