Texas' Most Beautiful Airport You've Probably Never Heard Of

- Cedar Mills (3T0) is one of my absolute favorite strips to visit, and I get a lot of comments from people asking what airport that is when I use it in my footage. So I wanted to just film and explain an approach into this iconic Texas strip so that I can link to it anytime someone asks about the airport.
Disclaimer: Just because I fly somewhere doesn't mean you should, too. You as pilot in command are in charge of your own decisions regarding the safety of each flight, including where you can safely land.

You always lean forward when responding to ATC in an attempt to get closer to the mic. 😃
I just started watching your channel a few weeks ago, and I have to say I love they way you present things and your enthusiasm. I'm a fan and hope you continue to put out these videos. Stay humble.
Thanks Darrell! Really appreciate that. Thanks for watching and hope it supports you in your aviation journey in some way!
Love this video. Editing was awesome. All the ATC chatter moments... location was excellent. GG.
Love your channel and thank you for the videos you make. I don't fly (yet) I pass f31 (lake texoma state park airfield) daily and at first thought this was the strip yoi were talking about till I saw it was unpaved. I never knew that was even there. I think lake murray also had a landing strip there. I didn't realize you were this close to me.
Love these videos.
Excellent vidéo editing 👍👍
Aw man, that first landing was better than 90% of mine 😅
Great video! Thanks for sharing
Sure thing, glad you enjoyed!
Love your content man! Just started flying and love it going for strictly recreational pilot but who know where this will take me! Love the buying videos as well!
Awesome! Pumped for you. It's such a rewarding pursuit!
Great video Charlie.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed!
Great landings thanks for sharing. And i also do the same lean forward when talking to atc 🤷🏾
That airstrip looks like a great place to land. Challenging with the crosswind but hey can't always have the wind in your favor.
Nice landing!
Oooh! I want to go there!
I did. Lot of flights out of KADS- good landing there .
If you like coming in over the water like that, the next time you are headed east towards FL check out 4R9 in south Alabama. Landing there is like landing on a 3000 ft aircraft carrier.
nice, thanks I'll check it out! Just looked at pictures... looks like a blast!
Hey Charlie, great video as usual. A quick question. It didn’t look like you used a traditional soft field technique for your departure. Is that just based on your familiarity with the field? Is it tightly packed and we’ll maintained so you don’t have too?
Hi Kevin - I did more than the cameras probably showed. But yes it's very well maintained and not spongy.
As a controller, when giving your position, it makes it so much easier for us figure out where you are if you pick a point within about 6 miles of you with you direction and altitude and then where you are headed. That way we have a general idea of which target you are and where to look when you start to squawk (on our end, that’s when your callsign and data tag shows up). “35 miles north of Addison” is so broad of a term, and makes us look at Addison, then count range rings up, and there’s so many vfr targets that you may not see on ADSB or look “around” 35 miles headed south bound.
Not mad at you, just trying to communicate something that could help you and definitely help out other controllers!
Excellent advice. I have been teaching this method for 25 years.
Thank you for sharing this! Usually I pick a closer airport or a VOR but in this case since I was directly north I thought I'd use Addison. But your perspective is great.... next time I'll do that!
Can you make more videos on these gems in North Texas? Thank ya!
Cedar Mills is by far my favorite but there are a few others. I made one a long time ago here for a great $100 hamburger too: ruclips.net/video/Hjo9BhNyTGc/видео.html
If you're going to rate landings, handing out "props" is the way to do it! I think it's a great scoring system. Hilarious!
Great video. Sometimes just a good flying video is what we all need.
Haha thanks Logan! I thought it was fitting as well :)
I was not flying the 182 much this year and i bounced my last landing.
Very good landings…. I have found the more I land at night the better my landings are during the day lol
I love how Cedar Mills has a bump 5 kts below rotate speed. You have to resist the urge to rotate too early even though you get airborne for a second.
Lol YES! I've always thought that same thing. Badly timed bump, for sure.
I'd love to go flying with you sometime. I'm down at KGPM.
I lean forward when talking to ATC as well lol. It’s just a weird thing we do without thinking
Sure would love to fly with you sometime.
I too love Cedar Mills!! I have several videos of 44T landing there. You are right about the +200rpm right as you touch down. It makes for a butter landing. Hey man, we still need to fly together.. Have you ever landed at F69? (Don't be scared)
I haven't landed there yet but would like to at some point! Shortest xc ever from KADS to f69

Checking this out on Flight Sim.
It's all I can afford at the moment! lol

3 props
Where exactly is cedar mills
I don't know what was wrong with the first one, it looked pretty sweet.
4.8 props
If that's only a 4/5 prop score, I don't want you rating my landings... :)

Hi Jose - sorry for any confusion but I cover the tool in this video: ruclips.net/video/am4o4kT2SKQ/видео.html
(airfield.guide is the URL)
I noticed you are not wearing a Mae West. That is not a safe departure. Should your engine quit at a low altitude. You must be prepared for an afternoon swim.
Better to swim than to hit a random person
Sea birds… yikes
I disagree I thought it was a great landing

Have you flown a canard plane something like the VELOCITY Experimental?
I have not but would like to!
@@AirplaneAcademy Thank You for your prompt reply. Wish I had met you years ago, would have used your expertise for taking flying lessons and buying an airplane.
